@Schoolthingy: Semesters always end at the same time here even if we miss a lot of class due to snow storm. Once, we had a like 5 snow storm always on mondays and every holidays falls on mondays most of the time, so we ended up only having like 8 class out of 15.

God, if I didn't attend summer semester, I'd have over four months of summer break. I have no idea what I would do with myself for four months. @____@ Work, I suppose.

Most of my friends don't get out of school until mid-to-late-May, and start in late August. (My friends at Berkeley just started this week, I think.)
Two months is average, for California at least. Three is pushing it, and is usually reserved for the private schools.
In high school and lower, summer break is usually only seven weeks.

Uh... Here you always start the first full week of September on a Tuesday (because that monday is a holiday here) wheather you are in elementary, middle, high of university and the last day of university is the 2nd full week of April + 1 or 2 weeks more for the exams (depending on your school), making you out before May, giving you 4 months of break. For Elementary/Middle/High school, the last day is the last Friday of June, giving you 2 full months of break.

I see. That's a good way of doing it, having things standard like that. D< In the States, it varies district to district, with colleges off doing their own things.
My school doesn't follow Japanese school schedules, or the Main Campus schedule. I think as long as fall and spring semesters are three months long with about a month of break in between, and summer semester is two months, they don't really care. D<

I have no idea where's Serend and Seryn o-o. I talked to both of them earlier, but serend was leaving to school and Seryn had to go bring some donuts to her mother then nothing. This leaves me to believe that aliens have, by some weird coincidence, abducted both of them when they were harvesting in the US, because, you know, that's the only country where aliens abduct people.

@Weatherandschooldays; Florida has built in hurricane days for elementary, middle, and high school schedules. Usually they are the days leading to break or the one's right after.

I went to the school to do official stuff, o-o then got a whole, "D< You can't be here! You have to be here in 24 hours!" "Tomorrow? 8D Okay, cool, I can come-" "NO, 24 business week hours. << Come back monday." "D8 BUT MONDAY IS PAST THE DEADLINE-" "D< gtfo."
D': Which made me all, ";^;" around the campus until friend-of-awesome, D< called me and was all, "DON'T BE SAD. D< LET'S GO OUT! NAO." and so I went off to the mall, watched the new Planet of the Apes movie (which I loved D'< ), and bought ze kids presents. =w=
8D I's happy now and HERE.
