As a foal he loved to walk along the shore, gazing at the different types of creatures that lived just below the surface of the water. He was curious, too curious sometimes, and would venture further and further out. He took no heed of the warnings to remain close to the shore, not to venure off alone, and to be careful. This continued into adulthood because his adventurous streak was too strong to ignore.
One day, the glowing red tentacles of a jellyfish caught his attention and he decided to follow it deeper into the water. The jelly seemed very playfull and soon they were swimming towards and away from each other in a chasing game. He realised that he had gotten far too close to the jelly when he was struck in the chest by a pulsating tendril, and slowly felt his entire world darken around him. He lay floating in the water until some brave kin came along and pulled him to shore. Over the course of many fevered days he laid in agony, hearing the whispers around him that said he would not make it if he didn't regain some strength soon. It took all his will to open his eyes, drink, and eat what he could, but he was not going to die. A slow recovery did not stop him from seeking out more adventure, and with that those around him decided to call him Pierced Heart.

You would hear him before you ever saw him in battle. The red and black toma was always singing of violence and war when he came to fight another for anything. His voice was deep and carried well through the mountain passes and valleys.
