Rei was stunned for a brief moment at the sight of her blades shattering against the man's body. Nothing had ever broken her family's alloy, nothing. The world seemed to slow down for that moment for her as she cursed her complete uselessness against these three foes. I'm so sorry Zack she though as everything began to move again for her.

A moment too late. The kicked connected with her chest the moment she came out of her stupor and the same time a fragment of her sword caught her in the right leg around her upper tight. It tore through her friction suit and flesh like butter until it was embedded halfway in to her appendage. She would have screamed in pain, but the force of the kick had driven the air from her, as well as fracture her lowest two ribs on the left side. She almost blacked out from the double pronged assault of intense pain but willed herself to continue functioning. No, I will not do nothing! I will not let them carry him away from me!.

With an enormous force of will she made herself move. For her it was felt slow and cumbersome, but from a normal person's perspective she was still unbelievably agile. She caught another, smaller flying fragment of her blades as she flipped herself over her attacker's extended leg, leaving it with all the remaining force of his kick pulling him in the direction of the kick. Preforming a improvised Judo pin, she rolled in the air and grappled his arm with her entire body and tensed as she forced the fragment of her blade into the small crevasse in his clenched hand. Attempting to force his arm taunt and pry his hand open with the blade and the mechanics of his own body. He was unbelievably tough she knew now, but was he also unbelievably strong? She prayed not.

Phantom, quickly noticing his inability to phase an object into the man's spinal cord, quickly adapted his strategy. He immediately dropped to his hands and one leg, using the downward force to add force to his other leg's sweeping motion. Right as he would make contact with the man's leg he phased his leg in, lending super density and unbreakable structure to his leg sweeping attack.

Phantom's leg connected with a loud crack, like two stones hitting each other. Azrael moved very little though his balance was slightly altered.
If it hadn't been for that, Rei would have had no chance at bringing him down. As it was he couldn't move his feet as they were preoccupied and he struggled to keep from falling over all together. This loss of concentration was just enough for Rei's leverage to pop the small shard out of his hand and into the air. "s**t." he said as it flew up past his eyes.
Rei's vision was beginning to blur, but she saw the object of her determination fly out of Azrael's hand like a beacon. Like the animal she took her name from, she snapped out at the shard in a blink, snatching it out of the air as she let go of her grip on Azreal's straining arm and fell to the ground.

She caught herself as she was about the hit the ground, landing on her feet and the hand not holding the piece of Zack. The fragment of sharp metal in her thigh cut deeper as the muscle tensed, causing her to let out of soft cry of pain. With a grunt she stood from her tripod position and yanked the sword shard out of her leg as quickly as she could. This time she let out more of a stifled but still blood curdling scream as the blood warmed metal streaked past the tissues and muscles that already screamed like they were on fire.

As she dropped the blood caked object she thanked her hyper fast metabolism and body functions for how fast they made her blood clot. At least she wasn't going to bleed out before the fight was over. However she knew she didn't have a lot left in her before she wasn't going to be much use to anyone. In her last moments of consciousness she sprinted over to Zack, who seemed like he was just coming out of some sort of stupor. She leaned on him as she shook him saying, "Zack, Zack! Wake up. I have it! I have what the woman took from you. You..have to...get..ou....."

With that she slumped over in front of Zack, her breathing shallow but steady.

Zack's head turned slightly as he took in the two people attacking him with red, puffy eyes. "No," he simply said. In an instant the earth around Rei and Zack shot up and wrapped around them where it compressed and hardened like rock, leaving a shell of protection.

Behind Azrael, Phantom tried to take advantage of his opponent turning his back to him. With all his strength he aimed a downward slanted punch to the back of Azrael's knee so as to force him to one knee. He had noticed he ineffective objects seemed to be at penetrating the man's body so he assumed the man was incredibly durable, phasing his arm in as he made contact to protect himself from harming his own fist.

Well away from the fight Melody made her way down the down feeling must lighter. Her pocket began to buzz and she pulled out her phone and answered it. "Ya? Ya Ah delivered the package to the team. No Ah'm not going back, Ah was hired to track and capture. Ah delivered the package, mah job is done. No. NO. Fine then, keep your payment. After this s**t it wasn't enough anyway. You just tell your employer that Sever completed her job just like always. Yeah. Oh and don't call me for a while. Ah need a break. Right." She hung up the phone and grimaced. Saving face was all she could settle for this time. Serves her right. Next time she won't take targets with so many friends.

L had just enough time to spin around and put up a wall of force before the comet struck. She was swatted out of the air like a badminton bird, bouncing of the dome and through the branches of the tree next to it. Her cushion was just enough to prevent any serious injuries, but she was laying in a tangle of broken tree limbs and dirt churned up from her impact.

Phantom's fingers struck Azrael's eyes and did no damage. They were like stone marbles in his head. Recovering he shot his hand up to grab at the hand or anything he could grasp.

Sensing that he was in danger, Azrael pushed with all his strength at Phantom's heavy body. He moved him just enough to scramble a few feet before the ice struck. He was slammed to the ground and pinned, only his head and right arm and shoulder unfrozen. "Dammit! There wasn't supposed to be any resistance. Damn dirty lying b***h." He began to use his free arm to chip at the ice, but at the angle he was frozen it was slow going.

Tree branches flew over the mound as L shot into the air like an angry hornet. "******** YOU!" She shouted and rolled a giant rage filled wave of force at the flying element user.

Azrael looked back and forth between the two and frowned. "I can see I'm at a disadvantage here." He smirked at Zack. "Some one wants to get a hold of you real bad son. But I don't think you're coming with us today are you?"
Up above L began having a tantrum. Waves of force rolled off of her sending large cracks racing across the ice.
"I won't stop you from fighting," Azrael continued, "But I'd advise you to leave. When she gets pissy, the whole area tends to be flattened."
He started to rise, the ice falling away in heavy chunks.

Azrael jabbed the air in Zack's direction. "I AM NO MUTANT." he said forcefully breaking his usual calm demeanor. He sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "Anyway, this pick up is botched. I'm out of here. Entry-" he said but cut off after glancing at Rei's prone form. The red headed young man was already gone. Of course, bail out first chance. "I'm not helping you with L. You can have her." With that he turned around and walked away.

L was seething. She began to mold her will into a drill shape and force it upon Maelstrom. The nearby buildings shook and groaned from the effort. Somewhere deep inside she felt pleasure at not crushing something just by thinking of it. That this girl was withstanding her. She liked that. After all that's the only reason she was with the other two, they wouldn't die.
