Ahah, that's true. We'll have tons to talk about when everyone finds some time to pop in (:
Term doesn't begin for me for another week, thankfully. Though back-to-school is quite a nightmare...
I'm really excited for this school year to begin :3 I suppose the only class I'm really looking forward to is Chem/Phys, but I managed to score Treasurer of my class so I can't wait n.n

DemonicDollie: Gosh, I have math-pains, too! But I've never really had problems with science. I guess it's the practical aspect that makes concepts easier for me to grasp. So I'll assume you like language arts/social studies-related stuff better?

x1193- Hi there, and welcome to Ravenclaw House ^_^ You're an observant person who figured out the question first try. Maybe you have a sixth sense of sorts when it comes to people. That would be pretty nifty.

Now I'm quite odd when it comes to school. When I was young and too ill to go to school, I would cry because I had to miss it. Of course, I eventually grew out of that but I still like the structured learning environment and I adore GOOD teachers. I've also had some teachers where I could do a better job presenting the material than they did *shudder*

Anyways, I'll soon be substituting again, I presume.

Turayza: I adore literature, history, art, and writing, despite my not-so-great grammar skills. There is something about science and math that seems cold and unfeeling because everything has to be precise. I haven't had problems with science until chemistry this year when we brought the formulas into it, which royally messes me up.

Meatballhead: I was the same way when I was a kid. I hated missing school and loved to learn everything that I could, which I still do, but even then structure bugged me. I guess its where I preform well in chaotic environments though. Structure is something that bugs me because it also means order and strict following of rules, neither of which I am overly fond of. I go to a college prep. school so all of our teachers are amazing and I have not fond a terrible one yet...well she was horrible as an algebra teacher but an awesome biology teacher.

That's good that you're generally pleased with your teachers. Trust me, from my 19 years of formal education, a teacher can make or break a subject for you.

To All Ravenclaws- I've yet to enter any official contests here at The Haven, being a bit shy about that sort of thing. However, I went ahead and posted in the "Summer Outreach Contest", and hopefully my points for entering should break our current tie (140) with Gryffindor. I suppose this was an opportune time to get over my formal-contest-phobia.

I do just prefer discussing things and having points magically rain down on everybody who participated in the good conversation.

So I started my first day of sophomore year. It went fine...except I got a cardio workout even with my tennis match and practice being cancelled. My high school underwent major construction over the past year, and the added a new wing and built a new main entrance, but part of the school is still under construction, and the part that is under construction is where you cut across to get to classes, you know, the easy way. And now there is this huge wooden wall blocking off the construction zone, so my friend's younger sister named it the third floor corrider from the Sorcerer's Stone. So my locker is on one side of the third floor corridor, and all my classes-except PE-is on the other side of the wooden wall. Yeah, it's a pain in the butt to try to get to classes. And construction isn't supposed to be done til I'm a junior. At least we get 7 minute passing periods. But other than that, I like my classes-Spanish 3, PE, Honors integrated geometry/algebra 2, and Honors U.S. History. My all time favorite subjects are science, math, and history, so I think I'll enjoy honors chemistry and honors algebra 2 next semester too. I hope everyone else has a good school year.

I finally turned 20 on the 27th of this month! My cousins visited; along with them, my sisters and I ate ice cream and watched anime! biggrin I know it doesn't sound like a 20 year-old's party, but that's me for you! wink

I hope that everyone is having fun starting school! My new term starts in about a week. Overall, I'm looking forward to it. whee

meatballhead: Good for you! Go Ravenclaw (:

narikoxneji: Lol, third floor corridor XD It's always awful when construction is going on during the school year. I'm a sophomore, too--I don't know if I'll have much fun in class, though. None of my friends are in my core classes...

para: Ooh, that sounds exhausting D: What are you doing for work?

Minerva: Ooh, happy (late) birthday! One year to go before you can drink XD

Term starts for me on wednesday. I'm sort of panicking because I have half my AP Calc summer homework left D:

Today was my first day of classes. I had to drop my cousin off at the university for her first day of college, go to work, was 27 minutes late, stupid traffic. Stayed at work until 1230, drove like mad to get to school, got there 5 minutes to class and had two classes. I have 3 classes tomorrow.

I work at a college bookstore..I hate college textbooks now.

I'm the same as you dollie...I hate structure and rules. That's why I'm in arts and sciences courses.

All of this going back to school talk has made me have dreams about the subject! Aye aye aye... I still feel odd NOT being a student.

Anyways, I suppose I should get my substitute teaching credential renewed if I have the money to do it (You have to do it once yearly). I don't even have the money for rent which is technically due today... I have an extension, but I'm not sure how I'll come up with the difference by the grace date I've been given.

I wish my family had left me a fortune in Gringott's... This muggle economic situation is very vexing indeed.

I'm finally done with my classes for this week...first week is always a tough one!

I'm taking 15 units this semester- 5 classes and its killing me already. I have so much homework in every class but thankfully I have a 4 day weekend to deal with it. I'm taking psyc 220 which is statistics for the behavioral sciences and I surprisingly enjoy that class. I usually hate math but this class is nothing what I expected. My favorite class so far has to be sociology 415 which is sociology of divorce and remarriage. I want to become a marriage and family therapist and this is like an introduction to it. Spanish is blah..alot of vocabulary and writing fluently in spanish. My survey to world cinema is alright..the teacher is kinda kooky but shes easy. Political science 100 is well just what it sounds like boring.

At least I'm going to disneyland this weekend!

Omg. School is KILLING me. D: First three days of school, and I'm up 'till midnight finishing homework? AP US History is a nightmare >.>
But hey. All this talk about college courses and worrying about rent makes me glad I'm still in high school. (:

Disneyland sounds like a lot of fun. n.n
All I'm doing this weekend is my homework. And attending an SAT seminar. /die.

Turayza: Hope your homework loads lightens up and I know AP US History can be a beast at times.

Para: Disneyland sounds like fun. Hope you have a good time.

I just finished my third week of school and everythigns going pretty well. I have not gotten my Algebra II test back yet so that could be it. My school forces you to get parents to sign the test and return it so if you get a bad grade they find. Hopefully the As on everything else will make it better.

My homework load depends on the day. Everyone was nice and decided to let us enjoy the three day weekend but I still need to get started on a paper due Friday in mythology. Other than that everyone else has been pretty cool about how much work to give each night.

We have field studies, which is my grade level working our way few a few cities and then giving reports over interesting things we saw each night, the 13-18. All sixteen of us juniors plus two teachers will be going to Ellis Island, The Statue of Liberty, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washing, D.C.. What's cool about it is that on my birthday will be at the Smithsonian. I plan on seeing the Asian Art Museum, the Sculpture Garden, and know for a fact I will be seeing the Air and Space Museum, because of my best friend who wishes to see it. Has anyone been to the Smithsonian and have any suggestions on what exhibits to see?
