Immediately after my roommate screamed, she went to go find him and yell at him. o___o
We decided that if it ever happens again, we'll call someone. It is possible that it all has perfectly reasonable explanations (probably related to drunkenness, considering the time of night, my neighbors, and it being Japan) but it's still one of my greatest fears, to turn around and there be someone looking at me through the window. D<
Back home I had a bamboo practice sword for kendo that I would keep next to me in case someone broke in. =D

anyways tomorrow until next monday i wont be in the country, so that means no internets, unless i got wifi and even then ill be too busy to respond to anything.

Hi again all, it wasn't a bad storm. It was like thundering and scary and rained for like two and a half seconds. It was lame.

I think it's funny that everyone was freaking out about the earthquake. I didn't know anything had happened and then my facebook news feed got blown up. Some people had the funniest reactions.
One of my guy friends posted this; "I guess there was just an earthquake. I was in my car and it started shaking. I looked down to see what song came on the radio to make my bass shake the car -- I realized it wasn't even turned on."

I have friends on Tumblr who panicked and ran out of their houses so they wouldn't be crushed by falling debris. Dear lord, their lack of earthquake preparation is embarrassing.
I have a friend who moved from Washington to New Jersey, and she said that in their science class, the teacher asked what you do during an earthquake and no one knew how to answer. (For those who don't know, you go under a table or sit in a doorway, and you don't leave the building unless you have to.)
We had a 5.something earthquake when I lived in my school dorm last year, and there were people in TEARS. People were deeply traumatized.
I mean, we don't have that many noticeable earthquakes in California (only two that I ever felt over a span of 18 years) but they're constantly telling us how the Big One is coming, and to be prepared. I don't understand how an entire section of the country can think they're completely unaffected by something like that. o___o
[Edit] Also, right after I submitted that, we had an earthquake, too.

Well, jeez, I never ever felt or knew someone who felt an earthquake before (well, in real life, I mean) and I still knew that! It's like one of those thigns that you are told all your life "Earthquake? You go in the doorway. Tornado? Basement? Flooding? THE ROOF! Snowstorm? Well then, you're just ******** and we hope you have enough food to survive until the goverment gets to remov all thesnow."

I was talking to a friend in Maryland about it, and apparently most people just shrug and say "Well, it'll never happen, so you don't need to worry about it".
Earthquakes and forest fires are all you have to worry about in my part of California, but I still know what to do when there's flooding, tornadoes, and snowstorms.
Hurricanes still get me, though. If you have storm shutters, that's great, but I don't understand how you prepare for one if you don't have any. o____o
I suppose it's like typhoons. You close the curtains and hope the building does its job.

See, living in Florida were prepared for everything. Juuuuuust in case. We get hurricanes the most, then wild fires, then tornadoes.
Hurricanes - You get the shutters or go buy plywood/particle board and cover all accessible windows. You SHOULD nail the wood in because if you try and attach it some other way it could fly off and do more damage. Otherwise, you pray a tree doesn't fall on your house. Or your roof get's major damage.
Wild fires - Those are a completely different pile of poop. You get evacuated no matter what. Take what you can and if you can't grab it? Your s**t outta luck.
Tornadoes - You just try and get the hell out of dodge if possible. But sometimes they could go down a street and screw the hell out of one side and the others normal. It's weird.
