Lily, who was done in for the night, gave a restless sigh. She very carefully reached out, finding the counter, and managed to set her glass down with only very minor spilling of her water. Then she put her head on her arms and promptly fell asleep, ears limp and draped over the counter.

Arlen frowned worriedly at Lily. "She'll be alright right?" he asked Tomo concerned as he moved the glass of water away from her so it wouldn't be spilled.

"Hmm?" Tomo turned his head to Arlen, asuming Lily's still silence had meant that she had fallen asleep. "I think so. Sleeping is usually good." He said, not really claiming to be a magical expert. He was, however, very good at making mischief and had many spells backfire on him.

"Nonsense! It's perfect down here!" He blinked, then looked at the spent shotgun shells on the floor, as he looked over at them, then down at it. "... Um, also, two guys tried to break in last night, and Pepper doesnt like getting her sleep disrupted, so..." He quickly swiped them, kicking them under the counter in his sleeping cubby. "... Yeah..."

Arlen nodded uncertainly and carefully gathered Lily back into his arms. "I'm gonna bring her to bed real quick," he said before heading upstairs.

"No one tried to break in," Tomo began, sitting up on the counter, "Because my doors are open freely to anyone who is wishing to find refuge." He said, green eyes soft. "Any melevolent force cannot make contact with the building." He lifted his head and nodded to Arlen as he continued, "And I'm afraid I have to insist that you take a room. That is one of my few policies about staying here."

Arlen came back down a few minutes later after he had carefully tucked Lily into bed. "Tomo, could I ask you something?" he said, glancing at the four other people in the room.

Tomo perked his ears and nodded to Arlen, "Of course!" He said, slipping down from the counter. "Is this a private question, or...?" He trailed off, actually quite happy to see him come back down. Not that he doubted he would, just nice to talk to him. They hadn't really interacted all that much, anymore.

Tomo nodded and stepped to the side of the room with Arlen so they were out of earshot of everyone else. "What did you want to ask me?" He asked, letting the kitchen door swing closed on its own weight.

"If um," Arlen swallowed, looking down at his hands. "If something were to happen to me," he continued, looking up. "Would you take care of Lily for me. I-I don't want her to mope around like she did when I was gone."

Some people may have asked a thousand worried questions as to what Arlen was up to and why he would ask such a question. Tomo, however, just smiled and nodded, "Of course, Arlen." He said gently, resting a supportive, almost brotherly, hand on the other man's shoulder. "Lil's like my little sister. I'll do my best to keep her going." He assured him.

Arlen smiled softly. "Thank you Tomo," he said sincerely and then changed the topic. "How have you been? Is Rhi well?"

Tomo's eyes glinted with pure happiness again. "Oh, life's been a dream." he murmured, walking back out into the main room with Arlen. "Rhiannon is so beautiful... Like her mum." He said, feeling a twang of guilt mentioning her now that he and Cass were doing so well. No, that was silly. Rhiannon was proud to be Kaia's daughter, and it shone in her grey eyes. So why shouldn't he be proud? It was okay to think fondly of Kaia and still love Cass. "Sharp little bugger, too. Getting smarter than me every day."

"That's good to hear," Arlen said, following Tomo back into the main room. "Do you know what happened to Kai?" he asked thinking back to his encounter with the angel the other day.
