Ubertastic Snarfy Hi, i'm new to this band guild but i have been playing the clarinet for about 6 years now. And you guys will probably think this is stupid of me, but i need advice. I have trouble motivating myself to practice my instrument (i used to practice it alot but i've just lost my spark because of all the homework and projects i get.) can someone give me any ideas that would motivate me to play? check out pawn shops to see if they have any decent plastic clarinets. if you can find one for a good price, buy it and keep it out in your room somewhere. the hardest part of practicing is getting the horn out. if you have a "practice" horn that is always out, you don't have to worry about getting your instrument out. it's not the smartest idea, because you should be practicing on the instrument you'll be performing on, but if that's the only way you can practice, you should do it.

Alright i can try that, but i'm currently living with a single parent and money isn't "flowing." Maybe i'll be able to pull some strings. Thanks!

if you need to, just take your clarinet that you have right now out as soon as you get home from school, even if you're not going to play it right away..just make sure you CAN play it if the urge strikes you

Its been a while since I have played the clarinet. I've been playing for 6 years. Since 3rd Grade to be exact. Its so long to hear the beautiful notes of music behind the clarinet, My Fellow Clarinet Players. 3nodding

I'm the only male squad leader in our clarinet section, and the only sophomore squad leader in the band. Our ban is two hundred and ten people large and we have roughly fifty clarinets. As of now it's pretty much my passion. But now the season's over. sad It's been a really good time.

hey, i'm dan, i havent officially joined this guild yet but i've applied.
i've been playing the clarinet for about 6 or 7 years now. Clarinet's my main, but i also play tenor sax, alto sax, keyboard/piano and some other random crap biggrin . I'm in my school's marching band concert band jazz band and i've gone to districts. Probably my fav accomplishment was being the first clarinet in my school allowed to play jazz. I've also taken a couple summer music courses at west chester university and plan to take the american music abroad tour to Europe. That's about all there is to me music wise. Oh yeah, i'm also a section leader in my high school and i'm first chair clarinet.... anyone here from Pennsylvania, US? lol.
I own a buffet clarinet, a jupiter tenor sax, and a crappy used keyboard and alto sax lol
Quick question, anyone here ever do Weber's Concertino, i'm using it as an audition piece for districts and just wanted to know if anyone had any tips, i should make the audition fine, i'm just trying to make a high chair biggrin
Edit: i'm now officially in the guild biggrin

MangaOtakuMai Never question band teacher. wink Anyways, so I've been playing the clarinet for a year and a half, and I'm pretty darn good. Second chair clarinet amongst those that have more experience than me! Yay for practicing. Hear, hear! I'm in tenth grade, and I started playing clarinet in eighth grade. My BD thinks I have a chance of making All-State band, and there's a possibility that I will be section leader next year. Woot. Practicing is awesome.
