Unlike the rest, Rei had taken the long way around, but then again, she was moving just under the speed barrier. The mountain range extended a bit further than she had anticipated but eventually the land began to level out enough that she could run instead of climb. Once on the other side she doubled back, the pivots from each of her turns at high speeds throwing up fountains of dirt. She had arrived back where she started, but on the opposite side of the mountain a few minutes ahead of even Zack and Melody reached the other side. She waited for a few moments before she realized she recognized where she was from this side of the mountain face.

"No," said said, scanning the landscape, "why would they come here?" She pondered for a moment before a hole in the rock opened a few feet from her. She decided not to opt for confrontation immediately and took off in the direction she knew they would be going. She reached the town in a few seconds and found a spot from one of the abandoned buildings that she could see people entering the town without being noticed and took out a locator beacon and clicked it on. This is our last chance, we can't let it slip by.

She watched in silent tension as Zack and Melody walked through the town and quietly maneuvered around the edge of town while keeping and eye on them as they moved towards a particular farm. Rei knew what farm that was, she had been here before, so had most of X-Nation. They had all been back to each of the 5's homes before they were taken by Eden shortly after they had been rescued, before they decided it was safer for them to stay hidden.

When they stopped in the the back of Zack's home's plot Rei continued to move closer until she could hear them talking. By the time Zack started crying for his lost family she could barely stop the tears herself. Oh Zack, why did you never tell any of us?. When her gaze shifted to Melody though she gritted her teeth and her turned to stone.

A split second later she was behind Melody, her presence announced by a short burst of wind before she spoke. "You should let him go," Rei said with an edge in her tone. "If you hurt him..." Her hands went to the handles at her back.

"I...we won't let you hand him over," Rei said, as she crouched into a ready position, leaning to show her side and thus a smaller target to Melody. Her hands stayed on the handles on her back. She seemed to think for a moment before saying, "How much are they paying you?"

"I think you misunderstood my question," Rei said. It seemed clear by the look on her face that she knew full well the danger Zack was and the worry in her eyes said her concern went beyond that of even the closest friend. "I want to end this, I want a number."

"25...million?" Rei said, almost baffled. "That's a rather large number for such a specific number. More than I could coax out of my sources." She seemed to mutter to herself for a second, talking very rapidly, "But maybe....no, Feral would never condone bartering with a bounty hunter, drop in the bucket or not."

She looked back to Melody and said, "So, tell me, your power stops if you die is it?"

"How long do you intend to keep up this stalemate then?" Rei asked. "You have to know that as soon as you turn Zack over or try to kill him and run none of us will give the slightest of quarters."

"Is it?" Rei said as she drew her blade so fast her movement was completely blurred. The blades first appeared to be very short blades, but with a quick squeeze their shapes changes into a slightly more sickle reminiscent version of a khopesh. "Good thing I work fast."

Rei was almost enthused to finally have targets she could attack, the stress of this situation was getting to her and she could use the chance to relieve it. With a fountain of soft dirt short several meters as she moved in a streak of blue-white and flashes of steel; she had accelerate to over the speed of sound before she was half way to her target. She choose to attack the target closest to Zack first. She came in low, near the knees and swept her left handed blade upwards, trying to bisect him vertically and her right handed blade swept from left to right right below his knee caps. The sonic boom reached her target a half second after she reached him.

Rei glared at the red haired man, but her motion never stopped, as her arms circles back around she was gone with another insane burst of acceleration. She reached directly beneath the floating woman and launched into the air like a ballistic missile with almost no loss in her obscene horizontal speed. Her blades were both forward and interlocked so that it looked like a double pronged spear head meant to skewer her.

Phantom had watched from close by as the man with the raid hair become intangible and had waited for his moment. As soon as she grabbed Zack, Phantom knew that was the time to strike, while he was touching something else. He moved with surprising speed while invisible to right behind the man and plunged his arm forward as he phased it out. Once his arm was through the man he became visible again and willing his phase to go the other way, to become completely solid, impregnable and immutable. The man would have hand only a moment to react to Phantom appearing out of nowhere before his arm would replace the matter where it passed through his chest, roughly where his heart was.

Meanwhile, Rei used her remaining forward momentum to start a spin with her blades forced outward to turn her into a human saw blade, attempting to shred the tendrils closing in on her.
