"Might? More like 'do' " He tittered and ran a hand through his hair, it was so nice to see people once again. "So what have you done so far since yer arrival? And where have you been all week, Amaya?!"
The walls were lined with movies, games, magazines and books that Rex hadn't had a chance to look a yet. He came to his feet and approached the walls, skimming the extensive library with a clawed finger. "Sheesh, they have quite the collection here."

"Eh, y'know..." The girl shrugged. "Been staying in my room a lot." It was obvious what for. The situation with Alec had been a prime example of why she ended up camping out in her duplex.
Green eyes watched him go over the movies, a clawed hand setting the controller back down. She'd let them choose what they wanted to do.

Alec frowned as Rex got up from the couch, wrinkling his nose at the stack of literary materials. "Books are f'ninnehs." He plainly uttered, the cig wiggling as he mumbled the speech. As he watched Amaya put the controller down out of the corner of his eye, he quickly did the same, figuring no one wanted to play anymore. Not like he cared much.
"A' nothin'. Playin' on me drums a smidge. Nice lil' gift a' got." He grinned as he mentioned his drumset amiably, besides the fact that they were a gift to continue the facade. "Meetin' people, that kinda stoof."

For some reason, that response about books was expected. Rex hated to make superficial judgements, but alot of punkers weren't exactly literary majors. Rex was no genius either, though he figured books were helpful or enjoyable if you needed them.
"Oh, you got drums? From the labs, I assume." Rex was curious, he'd never actually learned to play an insturment before. He played the guitar a little, self taught, though he certainly wasn't any good. "the least the doctors try to do is make us feel comfortable here, though I think thats the least they can do. It's like they're trying to win us over. Though with as much as they give us, there certainly isn't much to do around here." Rex's scheduel had consisted of Sleeping, eating and running. not a whole lot more.

In all actuality, Amaya would have loved to play... she was just having doubts that she could anymore. Maybe a movie would be better?
"Your a drummer?" She looked over at Alec, non-existant eyebrows raising.

Alec flashed a wild grin and tossed his controller onto the cushion, pausing only to readjust his cig. "Ye" He snickered, puffing out in pride of his "talent". It was rare to find people actually interested in what he spent his time doing. "From th' labs a' guess ye." He listened to Rex's comments on the staff's attempts to make the subjects comfortable, finding this as unpallatable as when Joli first discussed the matter.

Rex wandered his way back around the couch and took his seat back up on the couch, trying to prod more from Alec's lack of detail. "Thats so cool. Did you play in a band back home?" Uh-oh, Rex thought, one thing he'd learned was to NOT bring up the mention of the mainland or home, especially around a new comer. Though Alec's accent was interesting, Rex save asking where he was from for later.

The lizard fell silent, resting her chin on her palms. Her long fingers curled into her palm as she watched both of them. For some reason, she was perfectly content to just sit and listen.

Alec shrugged with an expression like he had tasted something horribly bitter. "Neh." He started slowly. Though he could easily lie and tell them he was some famous punk rocker star from the UK, he was a horrible liar. Too much of a conscience. "I was gettin' there though, was gonna be famous yanno." He picked at the fabric of the cushion, reaching over the side of the couch to put out his cigarette on the floor.
"And ye? Ye look like some macho guy. Bet ye woulda been some movie stah." He motioned to Rex with his spare hand as the other removed a drumstick from his pocket and began twirling it.

Though Rex knew using the past tense in this situation was correct, it was hard to believe that their lives were basically over the minute they step foot on the island.
Rex's face turned a shade lighter than his red shirt, a white smile erupting from the blush. He laughed a little, unsure of how to react, "A macho guy, eh? Heh thanks! I think."

Amaya continued to watch and listen in silence. What would she have been if she hadn't come here?
Probably still an orphan at the orphanage. Then once she was out of school she'd get some dead-end job and live a normal, boring life...
Neither here nor there seemed really inviting. In both instances her life would end abruptly without really accomplishing anything.

Alec snorted amusedly at Rex's reaction, wriggling around until he rose to a sitting position. "Ye well, a' better go practice. Who knows if a record guy'll be th'next on this island place." He laughed despite the stupidity of his statement, hopping up to a stand.
"I'll see ye guys around, ye?"

Rex laughed, he preferred to ignore the fact that their life wasn't going to go anywhere at all. It's not like his mainland life was going anywhere either, what's the best thing that could've happened to him being a waiter?
"Have fun practicing, Alec. I'll keep my fingers crossed for that producer guy." he waved the boy off and turned to Amaya, smiling with his eyes. "You've been quiet..."

The teen was sucked from her own thoughts as Alec stood up. She smiled and gave a nod to him. "See ya around, come by if you ever wanna hang out."
Green eyes then went to Rex. "Yeah... I've been overall quiet around everyone." She forced a tiny smile. "Not much to talk about anymore."
Though of course, Amaya had no idea why she seemed to be talking less. It still hadn't occured to her that the iguana DNA would effect her personality in such a way.
"I'mma go grab something to eat." She stood up and leaned down to give the big guy a hug. "I'll see ya around." With a tiny, almost sad smile and turned and headed out of the entertainment room towards the cafeteria.

"Ahh, alright. It was nice to see you again, I miss yeh." He followed her out the door, but split ways, going bakc to his duplex.
