or what it is, I consider it to be excellent, perhaps even nearly a paragon of its genre.
In your own words. You're implying Naruto is the best shounen, by stating it's a paragon of its genre.

Twenty episodes... assuming that minus opening, ending, and previews that one episode equals 20 minutes, I've watched nearly seven hours. SEVEN ******** HOURS... Read that, digest it, try to understand it...
What's your point?
It wasn't a complete waste of time =P

If a show is so bad that one needs to skip past that much of it to get to what even many fans consider to be the point where the series gets good, then its a poor show.
Same can be said for many, many series.
Not to mention it's better than going slowly downhill like Naruto Does.

That doesn't mean people can't like it, but it certainly qualifies as a cult show.
Cult Show? Say that to the #1 show in Japan.

I haven't seen conversation among the fans of the show coming anywhere near the level of intelligence I've seen Naruto fans discussing... seriously, we're talking philosophical and literary references coming to play here...
Bwahahah, Philosophy? Literary references? In Naruto? Over SCANSLATIONS? You act like Inane and Anbu are master writers. They're not.
Philosophy in Naruto? That's borrowed from the typical Shounen Cliche?
You see more "Intelligent" users posting "Intelligent
rolleyes " conversations on Naruto because it's more popular with the Pirates.
Philosophy? Literary References? Hah.

I stand by my statement that I've seen better discussion of Naruto than of One Piece, and if you wish to gainsay me again I suggest you come armed with something bearing more weight than your own blatantly biased insistance on the quality of One Piece... evidence would be nice, but I'll settle for a lovely fruit basket.
Find me these so called "Philosophical" Discussions on Naruto.

Japan also has vending machines with used panties.
America has people suing over burning themselves with hot coffee. What's your point?

Even if our discussion was whether One Piece was popular, I'd say that this calls Japanese preferences suitably into question. I'd also like to see, once and for all, an actual piece of evidence showing that One Piece's utter dominance over the Japanese market bearing more weight than someone actually just stating it. I've also seen fans of shows simply state that the lead character is their spouse.
Go check Japanese TV Ratings. Also the weekly jump polls.

I believe there have been several good Naruto discussions in the course of this thread... as well as a few in the Manga subforum and Anime Series subforums. I also know that several guilds have huge discussions and include multiple members that I can guarantee would put up a good discussion. And I'm not talking about VS topics, but I would also count VS conversations as intelligent Naruto discussion if they contain intelligent points.
on GAIA.
Most people tend to stay away from Gaia, which is known for its blatantly stupidity. Even More so that most other forums.

I'd also like to point out that you've been on Gaia for just over a month... we're coming up on the 2nd Gaian anniversary. You haven't been here long enough to have seen s**t.
If i haven't seen anything noteworthy in a month, I probably wont see much in 2 years.

Please stop generalizing Gaia on what pitifully little of it you've seen. If you don't like Gaia, then go back to GameFAQS and enjoy their orderly forums and rich avatar system.
Who says I dont post on GameFAQs anymore?

It has been shown to you that One Piece suffers every flaw you pointed out as esisting in Naruto,
Crappy Animation? The feeling that more could be fit into an episode giving the feeeling htat it's too slow? (That's what i meant by "too slow")
In terms of the Manga, going typical Shounen after the Haku Arc? With typical cliche'd characters who aren't even interesting enough?
One Piece has interesting characters, each with their own story. Not to mention its fights are infinitely more interesting, from fighting a God who knows what's going to happen before it even happens moving in the speed of lightning, to fighting an Ice Demon Fruit user, to even attempted Coups.
What has naruto shown? Typical Tournament setting to keep the action going? Angsty little kids running away from their city?

many more strongly than Naruto itself, yet stubbornly insist that said qualities must be held against Naruto and that OP is so good that the steaming piles that are its first 20 episodes be suffered through or ignored for the sake of the rest of the show...
ANd I couldn't tolerate Naruto after the Rock Lee vs Gaara fight. What's your point? I LOATHED the episodes afterwards. which were, hrm, a good 30 episodes.
