alucard no life king thank you at the moment im useing burst and the missle pod with mulit it seems to work well agenst most of the people i have been playing but a new player now uses elder and thats now the problem i have never faced anther shooting army Remember, Eldar DO NOT stay still, their CC units (SS or HB) will cut your Kroot to pieces. Get a Hammer head, and use the blast fire for the rail gun.

Also take into account, Eldar are one of the few armies that can out-shoot you as well. Between War Walkers, Dire Avengers (the bladestorm ability can punch out massive amounts of fire right before crashing into an assault), Fire Dragons, and a half-dozen other gun-heavy units, they can really tear you up from the mid-range. As best you can, keep a deadzone between you and the Eldar where you have range and they do not (which is hard, especially considering their speed).

at the moment the railguns saved me but he is geting smart fast he targets my hammer heads right off the start now its rather intesting style of play he uses its a risk but if it works out right he does massive damge but on the other hand if he messes up for just a single turn he riskes his army

heres a possibility if your willing to try it... swap out your hammerhead gun for something else... to make it less intimidating. get more broadsides, give them shield drones... MIGHT be a better plan then what you have now.

uhm, last thing i can suggest... i know next to nothing about eldar, but what i do know is, i think, they can out-shoot tau. so, my last suggestion being, get a couple high strength AP guns on crisis suits. probably plasma rifle, twinlinked if needed. jump them in to attack the units that will screw you up most. allow your broadsides to assist them.

Is an ethereal worth the risk? you know the price of failure? it seems really bad. and with the lose of just one guy my whole army can crumble?

Keep him at the back, with a body guard of Fire Warriors, and there. Give him the Power Weapons if need be.

Well, I'm afraid unit with ethereal will be a fire magnet no1... Eldar maneuvrability is hard to counter for Tau as they usually rely on mobile firepower to form moving firebase, capable of retreating from closing enemy intent of hack/slash. Kroot are dead meat if plasma grenades equipped melee Eldar elites get them, cover or not. My ideas? 1. Hammerhead submunitions kills eldar very DEAD. Especially with pathfinder squad to reduce cover and/or help hitting. And it can be switched to solid slug for tank hunting. 2. Alpha strike with skyray firing off all of its missiles can be deadly vs war walkers or wraithlords. Needs pathfinders to be done, too. 3. Tau are vulnerable to psykers without any dispelling ability like Imperials psychic hoods. Doomed Fire Warriors are usually exactly that. If possible hunt down Farseer, deepstriking suicide single crisis can do that if Eldar exposes himself, and SMS can do the same under certain conditions. 4. KILL Dire Avengers. 60 of them can unleash a salvo of 180 shuriken with 2/9 kill probability vs fire warriors, cover or not. Thats 40 dead FW! 5. SMS is great as it allows your units to engage enemy without him returning firepower. Use it to full effect!
