Sam froze. "You know where she is and you didn't even bothe-" The officer held up her hands.

"She flew to Indigo Plateau. The girl has 8 gym badges already, and has been trying to beat the Elite Four for a couple of weeks now. She had her Fearow fly her there, but we have a tail on her. They should be coming back soon, with Star and Kiri in custody"

"Sam? Honey? really you can wait..." Sam couldn't believe her ears. She felt like her parents were betraying her.

"No mom. I am coming home!" Sam's voice was fierce.

"Okay okay, we understand, we just want you to be happy. Please call us in every city okay?" Sam thought she heard more sniffles. Her voice softened.

"Sure Mom, I promise"

"Thank you. I love you." Sam tried not to cry again.

"I love you too Mom"

"Good luck Goose" Her dad's pet name for her made her nearly lose it.

"Thanks Daddy. Love you" The line went dead. Sam held the phone in her hand for a moment, and then replaced it. She sat down in a chair near the cafeteria. She watched Trainers playing and feeding their pokemon. Kiku was still there, under guard in another chair. Sam felt almost sorry for him. He did seem to regret it. She felt a tap on her shoulder. It was Nurse Joy.

"You really do need to get cleaned up."
PostPosted: Tue May 26, 2009 8:30 pm

"Good news: We have Star. Bad news: Kiri got away. We couldn't catch her." Sam shrugged.

"Hey as long as you have my pokemon, I don't really care." Just then, another officer came through the door. Following behind him was a dinosaur-looking pokemon with bananas growing on it's neck. Star was sitting on it's back.

"Troji, just set her down here, okay? Gently" The dinosaur lowered it's neck, but instead of Star sliding off as intended, she merely stayed put. Troji rolled it's eyes, and picked Star up in it's mouth. Star squeaked miserably. Troji set her down gingerly. Star just lay there, like a lump. Sam rushed over.

"Star are you okay?!" She lifted Star's head ever so slightly. Star held her gaze, and meweled feebly. Nurse Joy appeared at her side.

"She needs immediate attention" She pulled a small yellow stone out of her pocket, and placed it on Star's head. It glowed brightly for an instant, then disappeared. Star shakily got to her feet. Nurse Joy scooped her up, and took her to the back room. Sam collapsed back into her seat. She trembled from relief, exhaustion, anxiety, and probably dehydration. Her stomach rumbled. She got up to get some food.

While eating in the cafeteria, she watched the other trainers. Many were chatting with each other, while their pokemon interacted. She couldn't name all of the species.

"Hey who are you?" Sam looked at the speaker. It was Meagan.

"Um Sam remember? You rescued me from the net" Meagan's eyes widened.

"Oh haha sorry I knew that, I couldn't recognize you without the crud on your face," Sam figured that as a compliment "So anyways, your a pokemon trainer? That is so cool, cause so am I." The last statement was a little unexpected. In Cianwood, trainers weren't all that common, and most worked under Chuck's tutelage. How common were trainers here? Meagan plowed on ahead.

"Uh-huh I started just two weeks ago. I tried to beat Brock already, but I had a hard time cause..." she shrugged. "He's all rock and ground type, and my poor Penelope" Sam snickered.

"Penelope? Who's Penelope?" Meagan shot her a look. She removed a small black ball.

"Penny come on out." She primed it, and it released a couple of stars and sparks. She winked. "This is a Luxury ball, your pokemon will love you if you get them those." The ball opened to reveal a Pichu.

Nightmare roared in response, feeling the battle beginning to draw to a close. Who would end up as the victor? That was still unknown. But he sure as hell would do whatever it took to make sure he and Mitsu could rightfully claim that spot. Once more he roared before slamming his massive tail into the sea lion. An Aqua Tail, just as she requested. Bubbles rushed up to the surface as his tail sliced through the water and made harsh contact with the soft, slippery skin on the Dewgong.

An odd wailing groan could be heard, neither trainer had to guess who it was either. Maddie turned to Mitsu, "You did good," she said with a smile.

"It isn't over yet," Mitsu stated simply. She wasn't going to accept victory until she saw it with her own eyes. The only thing the two could see at the moment was the ocean, and a section if it that was far more violent than the calmer parts of the water out farther. The stagnant scene was soon to be disrupted as the white flesh was flung from the water, crashing onto the sandy beaches. Another roar, this one of resounding victory.

"Looks like it is," Maddie replied returning her Pokemon into the ever familiar red and white sphere. "Good battle, hope ta see you around!" And with those parting words she was gone.

There was an almost awkward silence between the trainer and the Pokemon. It wasn't going to last though. "We won!" Mitsu practically shrieked, throwing her hands up. She'd hug the Gyrados if he wasn't so far off in the sea. Ah, nothing like the feel of winning. "It's been so long. Good to have it with ya Nightmare," she replied, grinning. Maybe this whole being confident stuff won't be too bad after all.

The young man clad in his cammo pants and utility vest took several more moments before he responded to Riza again, leaning back further in his chair and now putting his feet up on the table. He wore thick, heavy black boots that were surprisingly shiny and clean. "I saw you yesterday, during the Rocket attack. If your boyfriend hadn't been there to help, you would have lost all of of your Pokemon to those creeps," he said, using a sweeping motion with his arm to gesture towards Riza's three Pokemon. "That's why you were lucky, that he was there to save you."

Riza's cheeks flushed and she quickly averted her gaze from him, staring hard at the table. As much as she hated to admit it, he was right. If it hadn't been for Crenu those Rockets would have taken her Pokemon away from her easily. But it wasn't like she hadn't learned from that mistake and a part of her almost wished she could go back to yesterday and do it all differently. That way Crenu wouldn't have gotten hurt protecting her, and perhaps their efforts could have been used to help some of the other trainers fend off their attackers. Riza remembered clearly the faces of some of the younger trainers back at Slateport that had lost their Pokemon to the Rockets and her heart ached for them. If she could have been stronger, she could have helped them!

She felt a soft, tiny hand pat her arm and she looked up, smiling when she saw Ralts trying to comfort her. "Thanks," she whispered, before reaching up and snatching Sneasel from the table and plunking her in the chair to her right and she stood up. "Yeah, you're right. So what? But you're missing the important thing, and that's the fact that I didn't lose my Pokemon. And so what if my friend, yeah that's right, not my boyfriend, was a big part of that? He helped me fight them off and he got hurt for it, and I feel terrible for that. But I'm not going to stand here and let some arrogant jackass like you rub it in my face!" Sneasel chuckled and applauded her trainer's ranting, while Corphish clacked her pincers in appreciation. Ralts stole the show away, however, when she raised both her hands up in the air and took control of the chair the big fella was sitting on with her psychic abilities. A simple flick of the wrists later and the chair seemingly toppled over on itself, spilling its sitter onto the ground of the cafeteria with a satisfying thud. "Nice job, Ralts," Riza said proudly, picking up the little psychic and setting her on her shoulder. "Sneasel, Corphish, let's get outta here." And just like Riza stalked out of the Pokemon Center, feeling quite good about herself.

"Your Starly has a lot of fight in her," the brown haired girl commented politely as she watched the smaller of the two flying Pokemon struggle to remain in the air. "She'll be something when she evolves, thats for sure. Staravia, its time to finish this!"

Katie didn't respond to that comment at all, she had never really thought about her Pokemons' evolutions before. Then again she'd only just left Jubilife this morning and captured Noa a few hours before now. "Whatever," she grumbled, pointing at the Staravia. "Noa, get him with a quick attack! Then Genki, you use your thunder punch!" Both Pokemon nodded before they prepared to execute their attacks. The small brown starly became a blur as she sped towards her target, preparing to strike him with all she could muster. As she closed in, she felt herself brimming with confidence! She would take him down with one shot! But these thoughts would never come to pass as the larger bird simply flapped his wings before bashing the right one hard into the oncoming Starly. The hit was a staggering one and Noa was sent tumbling back through the air until she landed on the ground with a hard thud. The last thing Noa saw before she blacked out was that nasty little chimp leap up gracefully and slam an electrified fist directly into the chest of the Staravia.

That's a pretty effective way to counter Thunderpunch, thought Jaeshan as he adjusted Combusken up on his shoulders a bit. She seemed to be growing heavier by the second and Jae had no idea if this was truly the case or just his imagination. She'd been working very hard lately and she seemed to be just a little bit stronger every day. Yet it seems like yesterday when she was just a tiny little Torchic who couldn't even control her Flamethrower attack, he thought fondly, looking towards the battlefield once more. Crenu's Poliwhirl was looking pretty good out there, and both he and Combusken applauded along with the gathering crowd when Brawly's Meditite finally fell and was unable to continue fighting.

"I guess we kinda lucked out running into this match out here," Jaeshan said, looking up to Combusken to let her know that he was speaking to her. "We're getting a good idea of how Brawly fights. I hope you're watching closely, Combusken."

Combusken nodded happily from her perch atop her trainer's shoulders. "Busk. Ken!"

Jaeshan's eyes widened a bit when the massive Hariyama was released and like before he quickly pulled out his PokeDex to check it out. "Hariyama, the Arm Thrust Pokemon. While this Pokemon's massive body may appear to be quite fat, it is in fact solid muscle. Its body becomes solid as a rock when these muscles are flexed and tightened. Hariyama are known to challenge others to tests of strength without hesitation, and their powerful, open-handed arm thrusts can stop a train in its tracks, send a ten-ton truck flying, and snap telephone poles in two as though they were twigs."

"And top that off with its Thick Fat ability and we've got one tough match ahead of us," Jaeshan murmured, having heard Brawly's indication of his Pokemon's ability. It would mean that Combusken's powerful flame attacks wouldn't be as useful against this mighty foe. "This guy is full of surprises," Jaeshan said, nodding in Brawly's direction. "We'll have to play this one carefully."

"Bus-ken!!"

"No, really Mom, I'm in the middle of a battle here... some jerks are trying to steal my Pokemon," the redhead insisted, shouting out an order at Themis to get out of the way as the Onix had swept its powerful tail across the battlefield in an attempt to send the much smaller Manectric flying. Again Themis poured on the speed in an attempt to dodge, but he didn't jump high enough to avoid the tail completely and he felt the crushing blow slam into his hind legs. The force alone sent the electric type crashing to the ground and without hesitation Keegan recalled him. "Stubborn Pokemon," he grumbled, reaching for Shiva's Pokeball. "Give it an Ice Beam!" he commanded sharply.

"Steal?" gasped Maggie Summers in surprise. "Have you called the police? Where are you? Do you need help?"

The happy-go-lucky Sealeo appeared in a flash of light on the battlefield and she did not hesitate to fire her newly-learned technique at the Onix. She scored a direct hit and clapped her flippers happily as the Rock Snake roared in pain. "It was kind of sudden, Mom," Keegan sighed rubbing his temples with the thumb and index finger of his free hand. "I'm handling it... look when things calm down I'll call you back, all right?"

"Oh, nevermind me," replied the chipper woman in an instant. "I was just calling to wish you a happy birthday and to inform you that you have acquired a new Pokemon today. Your friend Mike sent it over."

This last statement came as quite a shock to Keegan, and for a moment he neglected to give Shiva another battle command, thus leaving the seal open to take a blast of rock to the face. Shiva barked indignantly in return, deciding she wouldn't wait for her trainer to give her an order. Rearing back the Sealeo let another glimmering beam of ice fly at her target. She was determined to show her new trainer that she was strong!

"Mike?" Keegan repeated. "Mom, you've gotta be mistaken."

"Nope, absolutely not. Karen sent it over some time early this morning and I thought you'd like to know about it. I'll leave you to your battle now, sweetie. Have a great day, and give that sweet girlfriend of yours a hug from me." With a click, the line went dead.

"Yeah, okay, sure, I'll get right on that," Keegan grumbled angrily, slamming the phone shut and jamming it back into his pocket. "Keep up the great work, Shiva, we'll take these clowns down!"

Blanca had just two attacks left in Blissey's arsenal, and although she'd chosen heavy hitters, she wasn't quite sure her baby would last even that long. Which one first? the stand-in Gym Leader wondered to herself, since there wasn't much her pink cottonball could do to dodge that heavy, shining pair of forearms about to stab into her; with a cry, the Happiness Pokemon took the hit and rolled off like a child's bouncy ball. She was looking a little shaky, Blanca thought to herself. Well, might as well go with the effective one first and see where that took 'em. "Hold on, Blissey! First, Flamethrower!" the Gym Leader commanded, pointing at the target with urgency. The Happiness Pokemon nodded, popped up to her feet, and sucked in a huge volume of air like a vacuum cleaner. What she breathed out was not carbon dioxide, but rather a blazing jet of fire.
PostPosted: Sun May 31, 2009 11:17 am

The two would-be thieves exchanged glances before looking back in Keegan's direction. "Just hand over the Skarmory already," the Onix trainer said again, folding his arms across his chest as he coolly stared at Keegan. "Otherwise we might just have to take all your Pokemon, including the fat one there," he added, nodding to Shiva. At this point his partner released a Pokemon as well, and Keegan recoiled a bit when he recognized the three-headed bird, Dodrio. Themis still had the energy left to fight and Keegan knew it would be easy enough to fry the bird with a Thunderbolt or two, but getting past that Onix would be trouble. It seemed to be quite experienced; if the way it shrugged off Shiva's Ice Beams was any indication.

"Flying Pokemon are also weak against ice," the redhead mumbled to himself as he withdrew Althena's Pokeball and let it fly. The Golduck appeared on the field next to Shiva, and the two water types exchanged a glance before they looked back to their opponents. "Althena, you hit the Onix with a Water Pulse! And Shiva, aim an Ice Beam at the bird!" The two Pokemon were quick to reply. Althena jumped forward, gathering power in her forehead gem before she let the blast of water fly at her target. She scored a direct hit and the beast roared loudly before lunging towards her with an attempted tackle attack. Meanwhile Shiva had sent her icy ray at the Dodrio, though the three-headed bird was quick to jump out of the way and avoid harm completely. Keegan thought he heard the trainer call for a Tri Attack, but he wasn't sure until he saw the tri-coloured beam heading for Shiva. "Shiva move!" he called, and hearing the urgency in her trainer's voice, Shiva quickly curled herself up into a ball and rolled out of the way as the beam blasted the ground on which she'd been resting. The force of the blast was enough to send the Sealeo flying forward and she landed with a heavy thud on the ground.

"Give it up already!" the first hunter called, nodding to his Onix. The massive snake moved with much more speed than one could imagine possible for such a large creature and within seconds it had wrapped itself around Althena and had her bound tight. "You and your pathetic Pokemon can't beat us!"

The speedy Dodrio had already made it to where Shiva was and all three of its heads were angrily pecking at the Sealeo. She let out a sharp growl and a chilly aura appeared around her, only seconds before a fearsome hailstorm began to rain down all around her. The icy shards of ice smashing into its body caused the Dodrio to back off, each set of eyes glaring dauntingly at the Sealeo. Even the massive Onix was wincing from the hailstones slamming into its rocky body, though Althena refused to show that the Hail was hurting her. "I'll never give up," Keegan retorted sharply, ready to send out a third Pokemon if that's what it took to keep these thieves at bay.
=====
Flamethrower, just as I predicted, Miharu thought, bracing for impact as though she were the one about to get roasted. But Tingle is strong, and that Blissey is starting to look a little tired. Miharu pushed a few stray hairs from her face and ignored the fact that she felt as though she'd stepped into a sauna by mistake. "Aerial Ace, Tingle! Show 'em who's boss!" the tiny girl shouted. If Tingle could survive the Flamethrower, then just maybe she could turn things around in her favor.

Already slightly uncomfortable now that the heat in the gym had skyrocketed, Tingle raised up one arm to shield its eyes and prepared the other, making a loud, metallic humming noise as the scorching flames washed over its vulnerable body. Enduring the attack, Tingle forced its way through the stream of fire, its whole body beginning to glow red hot as he prepared to once again tear into the soft, plushy body of the Blissey.

Last time, on TTR...Venerax having been lost for weeks in the wilds north of Pewter has found a ray of hope in the form of a lighthouse. But his journey towards it has been delayed by an angry trainer after scaring off the abra he was after. Now he finds himself in unexpected battle, will he win and get to civilization or lose and be left in the wilds.

"C'mon now, you're just being unreasonable," Venerax sighed exaperatedly, running his hand through his hair facing the labboy.

"PREPARE TO DO BATTLE FOOL!!!" He exclaimed drawing out a pokeball dramatically.

Obviously he wasn't going to listen to reason. Venerax thought inwardly with another sigh.

"If you're going to be so insistent about it," Venerax shrugged and shaking your head. "But your just holding back the door to swing back into your favour. I choose, Booky."

"Ho-hoot!" The small owl pokemon was still puffed up protectively between the other trainer and his master.

"Hehehehe. . .It doesn't matter who you choose, you're going to lose!" He pushed his glasses back into place on his nose. "Prepare to meet the future! PORYGON! I choose you! HAHAHAHAHA!!!"

In a flash of white light the pokemon appeared. "RY!"

"...HAHAHAHA!!! Meet the marvelous creation of modern science and technology, the first virtual pokemon" The labboy placed his hands upon his hips continuing to laugh.

"A porygon? That's it?" Venerax quirked his head slightly. "I think your future is a bit behind the times. You sure we can't just make are way to civilization, I think you need an update yourself."

"Hrk!" The labboy nearly fellover. Recovering quickly, he pointed angrily at Venerax. "You won't mock us once you've seen our power! Prepare to lose!"
PostPosted: Sun May 31, 2009 4:53 pm

"Sooo..." Venerax began, as moments past, the light briefly washing over them in their silhouette battleground. "Are you waiting for me?"

The labboy still stood with his finger pointed angrily in his direction. The wind blew up some dust, the labboy's eye twitched. "No I was just giving you time to flee like the coward you are!"

"Er...yeah that, not going to happen," He rubbed the back of his head. "C'mon Booky lets make quick work of future boy. Use Peck!"

Booky pushed off the ground and furiously flew into the air right at the porygon.

"Tsk tsk, not so fast," The labboy clicked his tongue and shook his finger. "Porygon use agility!"

Booky's beak was about to land a solid blow upon the polyhedron head of the porygon, and then it was gone. Dust kicked up as it moved with unnatural speed. Booky did his best to keep its bearings.

Venerax could barely keep track of the porygon as it dodged.

"Or should I say not fast enough. HAHAHAHA!" The labboy laughed manically.

"Ugh, I hope you're not going to be throwing those out the whole battle," Venerax cringed.

"Erg! PORYGON! Tackle! Until I can collect enough feathers to dust my bookshelves!"

The porygon still using its extra speed to keep its distance from Booky's pecks suddenly stopped. Its body backwards to the owl, it turned its head 180 degrees to look at Booky. And then the porygon launched itself backwards at the oncoming pokemon.

Booky barely fluttered out of the way of the sudden attack. He didn't even have time to turn about as the porygon's head turned back round and it launched itself forward at him. This tackle struck Booky fully on, sending the small pokemon bouncing across the rocky ground.

"Have it your way then," the Onix trainer retorted in a dry, bored voice. "Onix, crush that Golduck like the wimp it is. Then we'll take it and offer it up to the highest bidder." Keegan couldn't be certain, but he thought he saw a glimmer of guilt pass across the face of the large Onix for a split second before it continued to put the squeeze on Althena. Althena, however, was definitely not flattered by being called a wimp, and she closed her eyes and began to concentrate. Even her redheaded trainer could not see her as she was currently being obscured by the wall of rock that was the Onix, but Keegan could sense that something was up.

"Dodrio, keep using your Fury Attack!" the second trainer called out, holding up his arm and flinching as the hailstones continued to rain down on them. The Dodrio, though initially put off by the hail, shook it off and continued to peck at poor Shiva using all three of its sharp beaks. Shiva whimpered in pain and swatted at the Triple Bird Pokemon with her flippers, but to no avail.

"Shiva, use Aurora Beam! Quickly while it's close!" Keegan shouted, still trying to figure out what he should have Althena do. Shiva nodded and turned to face her three-headed opponent and let a bright, rainbow-coloured beam of frost fly right into the face of the middle head. It shrieked in agony and thrashed back and forth, smashing its own head off both of the other two. Needless to say this started a fight between them and soon the three heads were shrieking and pecking at each other. "Excellent, Shiva!" Keegan cheered.

"No, Dodrio! You three-headed idiot! Fight them, not each other!" the Dodrio trainer shouted, but to no avail. The heads were still busy angrily pecking at themselves. Seeing a great opening to even up the odds a bit, Keegan quickly called for an Ice Beam, which again Shiva fired pointblank at the bickering Dodrio.

This time, the super-effective shot struck the midsection of the three-headed bird and it went staggering back, all three heads shrieking bloody murder in agony. Keegan slammed his palms up against his ears to block out the noise. "Althena! Hang in there!" he shouted, very much worried for the Golduck as he still couldn't see her. Althena, meanwhile, continued to focus and gather power, even as the Onix continued to Bind her mercilessly. Fighting against the pain, Althena snapped her eyes open and let out a sharp cry as a tsunami of water rose up from the ground beneath her, swallowing both her and the attacking Onix in a sea of cold water.

Milo had taken in just about everything on his Pokemon's new forms and attacks, and jotted them down on one of the random scraps of paper he had in his bag, making sure to jot down the current levels of his Pokemon, as it showed on the PC, for reference. "So, counting my current party," Milo said to himself, growling slightly that he was unable to switch anyone out due to Mike's password. I'll get that from you soon enough, you s**t. He snarled. I learned all your deepest, darkest secrets, so this is nothing! NOTHING! He took a deep breath. "The dragon, the robot and the snake have new moves that I need to practice with." Milo left out Portabello for obvious reasons.

"I figure after today's...hnh-hnh-hnh fun and excitement, wears off, I'll work on teaching them those new moves. After all, not much can keep me entertained for long." Milo flashed a devious grin to his reflection in the floor tiles. He was giddy from all the suspense, almost unable to hold himself back from rolling around the floor in laughter. Perhaps just a short, foreboding, sinister chuckle will work. he thought, clearing this throat in a mocking overly dramatic sense. "Hhn-hhn-hhn...almost play time."

-----

Sasha squirmed in discomfort. No fair, all the other Pokemon Center couches were much more comfortable! "Cette malédiction canapé!" she scoffed, fidgeting some more. "Fuchsia City suuucks!" whined the finicky girl as she rubbed her tailbone, her face curled into a pout.

After ten or so minutes of waiting, Sasha heard the ever familiar tone of the Pokmemon Center, signifying that her Pokemon were now fully healed. "Manifique!" she cheered, more than happy to hop up from her seat and run over to the counter. She picked up the two Pokemon, now comfortably resting inside their Pokeballs and snapped them to her belt. She still hadn't figured out a name for her new Fearow yet, but she figured it'd come to her eventually. With a happy skip, Sasha exited the Pokemon Center and made her way back to Cycling Road.

"Hoot hoot!" Booky kicked off the ground on the last bounce to regain height, the porygon already hurtling after him after that strike. The porygon shot past just below him and sliding to an abrupt stop.

"Hahaha! There's no where to hide. Get him porygon!" The labboy cheered on his pokemon.

Still on the ground bellow the porygon speeded sideways, dust kicking up in its wake, and landed upon the side of a larger rock. It launched itself off the rock straight at Booky. Booky dodged barely, but the porygon still kicked off his round body to shoot straight up into the air. Sending the small owl spinning nearer the ground. The virtual pokemon lost in the darkness of the night sky.

"No!" Venerax exclaimed watching with clenched teeth. Then he saw it in the beam of the lighthouse, hurtling head first at Booky. There was no time to dodge. "Booky! Quicky tackle straight above you!"

Booky gathered itself up as it hit the ground and then kicked off flying straight up into the darkness furiously trying to gain speed. THere was nothing above him. . . then the two pokemon collided in midair both tumbling to the ground.

"Okay, so electric is weak to ground?"

"Uh-huh, and strong to water and flying. Electric types won't even hurt ground-type. They're totally immune." The Pichu was staring at her trainer, wondering why she had been called out. "Maybe we should battle sometime," Meagan said. Sam shrugged.

"Maybe" She stood up. "I'm going to go check on Star." Meagan looked a little offended. Sam turned, and walked straight into a pokemon about half a foot shorter then her. It was pink, but had markings and fins eerily similar to Star's. The pokemon growled.

"Perrrrrttt!"

"Mara! Be careful!" The pokemon growled again. An older boy, maybe 17, ran over. "Ha, so sorry. Mara's so stubborn, she won't move if someone is in her way." Sam shook her head.

"it's okay. What is she anyways?" Mara narrowed her eyes."

"She's a Swampert, the final evolution of Mudkip." Sam did a double-take.

"Mudkip?! My mudkip is going to turn...pink?!" The boy laughed.

"No, this Swampert is Shiny. That's why she thinks she is so special." Sam had heard of Shinies before. She relaxed. "So you have a mudkip?"

"Yeah she is getting healed right now. She's still pretty young, but has been healed so many times already." Sam laughed feebly.

"Ah, are you a newbie trainer?" Sam nodded uneasily. "Here come with me. I want you to meet someone." He led her to a table of msotly older trainers. "Hey guys, this girl's a newbie! Someone battle her!" Sam was angry.

"Not fair! I'm not ready! All these trainers are so much more experienced. I don't even have my pokemon!" A girl of about 18 stood up. She stared haughtily at Sam.

"Doesn't matter. I accept your challenge. Meet me outside when you finally have your pokemon. I'll be waiting" She stalked out. The other trainer's watched her go, and then turned back to Sam. They started jeering.

"Ooh you in trouble!"

"Yes you are, Assissi is gonna whack your pathetic pokemon."

"Her name is Assissi?"

"No stupid thats her pokemon. Her name is Lila."

Star was soon back in Sam's arms, and Sam had an appointment to keep. She had found out that although Lila was much older, and a great trainer, she hadn't started much earlier then Sam had. Sam wasn't so pessimistic about her chances. As she was leaving, an officer followed.

"Wait! Miss, we need your statement!" Sam sighed.

"I'll give it to you after this battle, okay?"

The officer drew back and nodded.

"Fine. I'm watching." Sam smiled. This officer was the one who had brought Star back on Troji.

"Showed up, have you?" Sam flinched. Lila was standing right behind her. Sam hadn't noticed her before.

"Well? Should we start?" The girl glared, and took a plain pokeball from her belt. She chucked it. It opened to reveal...nothing. Sam frowned.

'This must be an illusion...' She waited for something to happen. She saw nothing...A flash of gold, and suddenly Star was staggering around from an invisible attack.

"What the...?" Suddenly, it happened again. Star stumbled. This time, Sam got a glimpse of the pokemon. An Abra! Of course! It was using teleport to get behind Star and attack. "Star! Run!" Star ignored her, just staggered around, confused. She saw a flash of gold. "Star! Try to tackle it!" Star shook her head, and charged towards the Psi pokemon. It vanished, and Star, skidding to a stop, accidentally hurting herself by running her face into the ground. Sam groaned. This battle was not going well..."Star! Bite it next time!" The Psychic-Type appeared directly behind Star. Star swung around, but only succeeded in biting her own tail. She yelped. Sam smacked her forehead. "Cmon Star! Get it together!" Star shook her head again. Things were getting a little less fuzzy. She could think better. She tried to anticipate the Abra's moves. She succeeded in evading a few more attacks, but couldn't land an attack herself. She cowered, hiding her face in her paws. "Star, use Mud-Slap!" Star steeled herself, and quickly started slapping mud with her tail fin. It landed everywhere, even on Sam and Lila. By chance, it landed on the Abra. It opened its eyes, and blinked. Lila who hadn't spoken a word, shouted.

"Assissi! Ignore it!" Assissi shook its head slowly. The mud wouldn't come off, and it was foul-smelling too..."Assissi, focus!" The Abra nodded, it's eyes closed again, and teleported again. It couldn't see a thing, and couldn't concentrate on it's destination. As a result, it ended up directly in front of Star. Star hesitated for a moment, and charged. It sent the Abra flying a few feet back. Star huffed, thinking the battle won. She turned, and smacked into the Abra, sitting right before her.

The red light born of the pokeball washed over Poliwhirl and sucked him back into the bowels of the reed and white sphere. "...It couldn't be helped. You did your part in revealing a few of the secrets that pokemon held. Whilst I have no more ice or fire attacks to use anyway, I've learned a bit about it's defenses and strengths. Those hands are mighty, but I question the recovery time behind the attacks. You're all out offense may be able to topple defenses, but I can outrun it." Crenu reached for his belt, grabbing the fourth pokeball from it's clip. The only pokemon not watching the fight was the one that couldn't be trusted until this badge was obtained, Hitmonlee was released from his confinement and brought right into a battle situation. The Kicking Pokemon kicked the air furiously, glad to be getting out again and furious for having been locked away in the first place. He turned to face Crenu, and angry glare in his eyes. "...Calm yourself Lee, you were soundly trounced by Poliwhirl the last time and Pupitar will do it even faster. You've got a strong opponent over there, he just took out Poliwhirl with a good strike. Here's your chance to show how strong you are, but I promise you that you will fall if you don't listen to me." Hitmonlee turned his back to Crenu and faced his opponent instead, staring into the eyes of the Hariyama. Those big hands looked like they could be devastating, but his kicks were not to be taken lightly. "Alright then Hitmonlee, Let's start with a Rolling kick, let's put a sting in those palms of his." Crenu issued the command, but Hitmonlee just huffed, raising his leg instead as he concentrated, focusing his power instead. He was going to take down this big lump of meat fast, though a rolling kick wouldn't have been such a bad idea had he not been ordered to do so.

"That's looks a lot more like a Focus energy than a Rolling Kick little dude. Looks like you've got some communication problems bro, and if you can't communicate with your partner when you take on a big wave the two of you'll end up seriously hurt. Hariyama, Arm Thrust now!" Hariyama again took a sumo pose as he rose one leg up high and stomped the ground with a terrible force, rushing forward at Hitmonlee with his arms rapidly moving in front of him as he tried to get multiple hits against the arrogant looking pokemon. His swipes were so mighty that one could hear the wind being broken with each thrust of the giant hands.

"Damn it Lee, be careless on your own time, I won't let you blemish my already unacceptably tainted record with loss simply because you've got issues. Now move!" The always cool Crenu nearly lost it for a moment, but kept himself from erupting over Hitmonlee's behavior. At least he boosted critical hit ratio rather than do nothing at all. Hitmonlee grunted in disdain at Crenu's comment, but he didn't want to lose either. He didn't intend on taking a hit regardless, so he decided to move rather than do the opposite of his triner's orders and take a hit. The pokemon's big hands were fast, but Hitmonlee was able to move out of their range with relative ease. Hitmonlee was ready for a fight, it'd been a while since he really got to fight.

"Heh, nimble one that Hitmonlee. I see you dig fighting types too my man, awesome. Hariyama, let's hit them with a Vital Throw!" Brawly issued out hsi command with a grin, watching as Hariyama brought his hands in close to his body and inched closer to Hitmonlee, but did not attack. Instead he sort of just hung back and readied himself for his move.

"The hell is Vital Throw, I've never seen that move before. Hitmonlee, don't give them a change. At least you can agree with me on that much, hot them hard with a Rolling Kick!" Hitmonlee hesitated for a moment, but went for it in the end. He sprang forward with muscles drawn tight in his rubbery legs, turning them into a lethal whip like weapon as his lead leg came around with the mighty heal crashing into the very solid Hariyama Hitmonlee was delighted at the feel of the big pokemon falter a bit, but the Hariyama gave a mighty grunt before takign hold of Hitmonlee and smashing his to the sand with a shocking force. Lee bounced up, taking his stance again as he replayed that humiliating exchange.
