Oh sorry, I thought it saw 5000-6000 rofl

lol
thatd be awesome

as for objectives n stuff:
were just doing a last man standing game
not playing with leadership roles, since neither of us know how to use it properly... well, aside from pinning lol, gotta love carbines lol

You said you had one squad with carbine and one with rifles. Did they change the rules in the new codex because it used to be that only 1/3 of the squad could have carbines, or something like that.

And against marines I recommend shooting all the fast stuff first, stop them getting into combat in any way possible. Marines will tear you apart in combat.

*sigh of relief*
ok good, lol
i thought maybe i overlooked the whole 1/3 of the party rule

i reeeeaallly liked the idea of having a carbine squad for whoevers rushing me to hit first, then with the longer ranged rifles id continue shooting.

Carbines are not going to help much against Nids. Or against much at all, really. The sheer amount of Ld10, Fearless, or immune to Morale models in 40k make Pinning and morale checks inflicted via shooting a ridiculously small factor in most games. (Except, oddly enough, against Tau.) Against Nids in particular, Synapse means they will generally autopass their pinning checks. Firing on the run is good, but the loss of the extra range and the lack of an extra shot at 12" is huge, and isn't made up for by the addition of pinning.

ya my question is i mostley play agenst orks and spacemariens i just got 6 new battlesuits and i was wondring is there a set i can take that works good agnest both spacemariens and orks or can i only be strong agenst one or the other
PostPosted: Tue Feb 10, 2009 12:43 am

from my knowledge, orcs are a mob army, one unit dies, no biggie... space marines are not, one unit dies, its a big deal... so i highly doubt that there is a battlesuit combo effective against both

Just get Burst Cannons and Template weapons.
Two Burst Cannons and a missile or what ever its called launcher on its shoulder.

yuck. i hate T-L anything, unless its so powerful a second roll is nice.. rail gun, some plasma, etc.

but i guess for versatility he has a good point, nothing wrong with burst cannons. you could possibly try burst cannon, multitracker, and another gun of your choice, plasma, missles, etc.

Not really. Firestorm suits (Burst Cannon/Missile Pod/Mulitracker) are okay all-rounders in 5th ed, but they're not going to be fantastic against Marines. They'll be decent against most orks (i.e. not megaarmor). I'd avoid falling into the Plasma Rifle trap; with the massive upgrade and proliferation of cover saves in 5th ed, the AP2 isn't worth the expediture of points even against Marines.

What you should really be doing is using pegs, magnets, or plain old blue-tac to make your Crisis suits' weapons swappable, making it easy to change weapons loadouts based on your mood or opponent.

i actually have an eraser, i forget the professional name for it, but its like stickytak, used for charcoal. it works perfect for my units because the grey of it kinda sorta resembles grease, so it doesnt look horrible when some pokes out. i dont know if its cheaper or more expensive than the blue-tac, but theres another option for you smile

okay... I know this will sound incredably noobish... but I've got a hammerhead tank, a squad of half painted tau (mom's work) and a base coated squad of kroot. (olive green.) ...and well the only thing I've painted are marines and skeletons. ((very simple colour scheme. )) I've also done some good work on sigular model's but with these tau I've hit a wall...

I'm planning to make them T'au with the tan/gold armor... and I have all the colours needed but I'm not sure of the order the paints go in... ^_^;

sorry for wasting your time.

Stop being so pitiful. It's unbecoming.

I'm assuming you're talking about the "Default" Tau scheme? Here's the instructions, then.

1) After priming the model with Chaos Black Spray Primer, apply a Scorched Brown basecoat to the armor. Basecoat the clothing with an even mix of Scorched Brown and Chaos Black while making sure to leave the Chaos Black undercoat showing in the recesses of the clothing. Also make sure to leave the Tau symbol on the shoulder, the armor straps, and parts of the rifle showing just the Chaos Black undercoat.

2) Paint the armor Vomit Brown while taking care to leave the Scorched Brown coat showing in the gaps between the armor plates. Highlight the clothes with straight Scorched Brown, and highlight the armor with an even mix of Vomit Brown and Bleached Bone.

3) Okay, time to finish the highlighting. Carefully edge the armor with a mix of Bleached Bone mixed with a touch of Vomit Brown. Then, use straight Bleached Bone on the small edges of the armor. Highlight the Tau symbol on the shoulder, the armor straps, and the rifle parts with an even mix of Chaos Black and Codex Grey. Finish by edging the black areas of the rifle and the Tau symbol with straight Codex Grey.

4) On to the detailing. Paint the circles near the front of the rifle with Burnished Gold. Highlight this circle with an even mix of Burnished Gold and Mithril Silver. Paint the optics on the helmet with Scab Red. Highlight these optics with an even mix of Scab Red and Bleached Bone. Congratulations, you now have a finished Fire Warrior!
