"10," the voice said. He obviously was not having any of Danny's games. There was no malice or frustration in the voice. The only way to describe it would be duty, as if there was a job to be done and he was doing it. "I'd rather not have to remove a child's heart and throat but I will if you are one of Eden's pawns. Once more, 10 seconds."
"How can I have ten seconds after the three seconds it took to say that?" Danny replied, "I've never had my heart ripped out before, stabbed yes. Shot twice. Maybe bitten I think, I was underwater and the shark was pretty big..." He shook his head. Revealing too much AND rambling. Geeze, great heroing there. "Anyway, I don't know who this Eden is. I don't know you, or that girl and I only know that Zack guy from what I was told."

"Told by whom?" The voice said, he had dropped the time restriction. "And what did they tell you?"
Danny shook his head again. "I don't think so buddy. I don't know what team you're playing on. I can't fill you in until I know you're not going to use it against my te-" he stopped. This guy didn't know how many of them there was. "Me."
"You know his real name, but you don't know what Eden is..." The voice seemed to be contemplating probabilities. "The people who told you of Zack, how many, what genders and what were their names, their real names? You have get one try before I gut you like a fish and move on to do the same to that bounty hunter."
"Leave my internal organs alone! Do you have a fetish or something?!" Danny retorted. He was quickly deciding that he wasn't good at the banter thing. Either that or this guy wasn't doing it right. "I told you I'm not telling you s**t without knowing who you are!"

"Sorry kid," The man said as he suddenly materialized. Not even half a second after doing so he became phased and his hands slipped through Danny's chest and throat. The left hand touched Danny's heart and the right slanted up and touched his brain, as Danny fell through the now phased out limbs of the man his heart and brain also became phased and passed out of his body as it fell. As soon as the body was free of the two organs the man came normally phased again and Danny's brain and heart fell on to the ground with his body.

The man stood over him, as if assuring himself that Danny was dead after the remarks he had made about having his heart ripped out before.

"Don't say I didn't give you a chance to explain yourself."

"Yes, I believe we were," Omen said as he stood calmly and readjusted his jacket. "Good to see you are recovering as quickly as ever. I am afraid Vector's arm won't be of much use to him for much longer that it will take you to be in full health again."

He made his way to the front door, Warpath however did not move as she continued to stare at Tara, her white knuckle grip on the chair handles beginning to crack the wood. "Warpath," Omen said calmly. After a few seconds without a response he sighed and said, "Ayasha!" With a succession of rapid blinking Warpath un-tensed and let out a long breath as she raised from the chair.

Tara's glare followed Omen the entire time. He paused before exiting and said, "I have found that precogs are much like psychics, they only need a correctly chosen method to block them, though often with them it is less of a who and more of how you conduct yourself. Decentralize your information and try to have others that you believe will make similar decisions make them in your place if you feel you are being scryed. Other than that if you have the good fortune to find a mutant who can manipulate probability or 'luck' and keep them near, no precog can read you, things will always change in your favor in ways they cannot predict."

He looked around one last time before his eyes settled on Chamberlain and he smiled as he said, "Just some friendly advice to keep you out of trouble until this Mr. Snyder inevitably earns my scorn and this all ends." Then he left, and no sooner was he and Warpath a few feet from the house, still visible from the large window panes of the shop, did they stretch, distort and then disappear in a blip, like the single of and old TV being turned off.
After they were gone, Chamberlain directed his attention to Tara. "Are you alright? You shouldn't be moving around." He was concerned, though secretly relieved that she was acting more lively.

"I've seen better days," she rasped as she put her good arm around his shoulder to help her to stand. "That was not a pleasant walk, but I will not tolerate that man under the same roof as I am. Normally I would be trying to kill him, he knows that, but there is no way that is going to happen right now, he knows that too."

She sighed and it looked like she might be holding back tears, "Promise me you will never let deal with that man. I was his once, but no more, and I won't lose anyone else to him or his followers, ever again."

There was a knock at JJ's office door and his secretary spoke from the other side. "Sir, there are two women here to see you, they said they following a man that they said has been here recently. One of them said....well she said she he scent moved through here, I'm not sure I said that right."

After roughly a dozen minutes of almost disturbingly solid silence Zack turned his torso and neck until he was looking at Melody. He opened his mouth and took a small breath, like he was going to say something, but stopped. He looked at here for a moment before turning his attention back to the stones.

Suddenly he spoke, "Have you ever actually killed anyone?" His gaze did not shift but it seemed he was listening.

"You did not just say that to me..... You.. you're a ******** child, I have been fighting the darkness since I was eight years old I have seen the worst this universe can offer and there is no way that you will every know the horrid details I keep locked away from the world. There are creatures out there that would make even the most depraved man seem as if he was the next in line for the papal throne!" Victor's breathe was heavy with rage as he stared directly into Liz's eyes, whether or not he could focus on the real task at hand was lost to him all he could think about was this girl, this...young woman who challenged him in every since of the word.

"I may have gotten soft, I may have just been coasting by on a mediocre performance, but at least I'm not clinging to the coat tails of a more talented team."

"We'll see who's clinging to whom once we're done with this, that's for certain." Liz's face was so close to Victor's they could feel each other's breath.

"So, unless there is something else, I guess I have some more 'proving myself' to do to some other form of solid rock." She actually made the finger quotes as she huffed the words that prefaced her allusion out at him.

Reaper grabbed her wrists and pulled her all the way in. He seethed with anger. I hate her, why did I come to help her I hate I hate.... Victor barely had to lean in to meet her lips. All of the emotions he felt in that moment where funneled through in the only way he knew how to express himself further to her. My words mean nothing understand me... please

There was a brief moment of reflex resistance from Liz when her wrists were grabbed but it quickly stopped as Victor kissed her. She was surprised to the say the least. In the back of her head, she was aware of the sexual tension between them no matter how she tried to deny it. However she wasn't experienced enough with these sort of relationships to understand the thin line attraction and frustration sometimes treads.

The surprise passed quickly however and just as Victor was probably about finished anyway she pushed them apart with a little difficulty and slapped him, hard. "I...you...dirty...." she stammered , as if her brains had been scrambled by the kiss. Then, just another split second later she fell silent, looking at Victor almost sheepishly. Then, in a rather uncharacteristic move, she threw herself back at him and returned the kiss with a bit more vigor than she had received...

Victor embraced her as best he could, it was the same as catching a squall. He ran his fingers through her hair as he pulled her in closer and almost as quickly as it started he broke away. His lips left hers and his breath was heavy. "Mission... we...hav....miss...ion" He gasped for air. It was clear in his face behind his eyelids which he bolted shut was the regret for the situation.

"I don't have the answers for this. I don't know if I should smack you, or kiss you. I wish this had happened at another time. But the mission a man's life... your friend. It is dangling on a weak thread, We'll talk about this later, but now... I need you to cut this mountain in half, we've gone to far to back out." Victor smiled and held his forehead against hers for what he hoped was forever he stood there his hands sliding down to her waist before he let go and finally stepped back.

"Allons-y"

Liz looked like she also had things to say about the last few moments but just nodded in agreement that they had to wait. "There's one thing I know we agree on more than anything else," she said with melancholy as two impressive clouds of aura formed around her arms in such excess that they seemed to plumed and roll off her shoulders like the a wildfire. "Our friends matter, and we don't leave them behind."

With that she turned and began boring her way through the mountain again. This time the tunnel was a bit more narrow because of how she was forming her aura but it seemed like she was going much faster than before. "It might get a little tight in here but this is as fastest way I can cut a passage out of something solid."

"What's a tight squeeze between friends anyways?" Victor joked as he pulled his mask back up over his nose the grin was still there but his eyes lead a more serious tone across his face. He was back in the game, after all in order to pull this half-baked scheme off he'd have to be in rare form on the other side.

"Send them in." he replied.

"Sir," the secretary said as the door opened and two woman filed in. The lead woman was a rather striking beauty, as if her features had been chiseled into ageless stone by a master artisan rather than natural growth and wear from age. Speaking of age, she looked to be at the peak of her prime; she had jet black hair dropped to just below her shoulders had a luster even in the unnatural light of the indoors and deep turquoise eyes that shone like the polished stone they mimicked. She wore a dark yellow undershirt and blue denim jeans and jacket.

The second was a much more timid looking woman in her choice of clothes, wearing what you might think of a a mix between a starving artist and librarian might wear, though this was accented by a pair of over sized hipster-Esq glasses and a extra wide book she carried under one arm, with a shoulder strapped satchel bag that seemed stuffed rather full. He hair and eyes were a very fair brown, wavy and cut to neck length, her freckles played of her rather soft, round features.

Though the woman initially show recognition at the sight of JJ, the second simply waited in the front of his desk while the first paced the edges of his room, followed by his furniture, apparently...sniffing. When she reached the couch on the right see stopped and investigated more systematically before moving back to JJ's desk.

"Your cleaning staff are very thorough Mr. Snyder, you should probably pay them more. However I did find a few traces of the one we are looking for, as well as his companion. I believe he would have referred to himself as 'Omen'."

Her eyes seemed to pierce like ethereal arrows, "What business did that man have here with you? Is it not to far off to assume it was not good business for you. You are however alive, so it would seem he is not supremely displeased with you."

She rolled the words around in her head for a moment considering weather she wanted to answer. After a while she spoke. "Anyone ah did kill thoroughly deserved it. Ah prefer hunting down live targets, but that's not always the case."
She held up the small piece and flesh and skull she had pulled out of Zack's head when they first met. "Sometimes people don't respect the insurance ah take out on them. Other times ah have to defend myself. Ah don't actively go out on killing sprees if that's what yur asking."
