Kokopelli kindly went over to Caleb, and lifting up the sleeve of Caleb's robe slightly, pointed to the heart-shaped pin.
Ann gave a squeak of joy, and then took out a felt box, and then, gently taking out the pin, put it in one of the fifteen slots.
"The right to love, the copper heart pin, from Moé."
Kokopelli took out an onyx pin with his silhouette, and placed it in the second slot.
Ann produced a dark gray, coarse, wirey thread, and examined it.
"You poor, poor man..."

Ann paused.
"I'm Fate, Daddy assigned it to me a month or two ago. This is your soul."
She paused.
"I see a lot of strife, and then... Kokopelli told me about what Bifrost did to you and Moé."
She paused, and then grinned.
"Oh! I was her babysitter. she wasn't serious about it..."
She took out a small doodle made in crayon by an elementary school child showing the rough visage of a plague doctor.
"So adorable. I don't know what the purpose of all that was, but I don't mind."
She took out a diamond spider-shaped pin, and placed it in the box.
"The diamond and onyx pins, Ann and Kokopelli. The right to stand up against your problems in-family, and the right to all other badges, should you obey fidelity."

Ann poked his forehead, and stepped back.
"Okay. I now have clairvoyance and telepathic two-way conversation. I can make the portals for you, and tell you if you're going into any trouble."
Like this, she said, projecting to his mind.
She opened a portal.
"Your next stop is the Zarathustra mansion. There are five of them in one fell sweep. You may not know my twin brother Jikoku, but he's easily recognizable as a darker-skinned version of our father."

If you're interested, I can make point A's portal inside his mouth, so he can talk to you. The serpent is technically your would-be brother-in-law, since he and Moé share the same mother...
The serpent raised its head, which, although it was in the distance, was huge, bulky, and took up most of the sky.
Oh, Ann said. He just told me that he can't resist anything that comes inside of his mouth, and that he wouldn't want to harm a potential member of the Montblanc family.
The serpent gestured with its head to the B portal on a section a few feet ahead.

The portal closed, and beyond the gate was a truly odd-looking door.
The doorbell equivalent is located above the wolf-head doorknocker. I heard commotion inside, and I doubt they'd hear the knocks.

Marion answered the door, garbed in her maid outfit.
"Oh? I like guests. We're having a tiny family reunion here inside..."
She paused.
"Come inside, tell us your business after you have something to eat."

Marion laughed.
"That doesn't matter. Only people who can portal can come here, and that makes you significant in itself."
A small girl with black hair tied into pigtails, with a little brown-and-black dress and brown eyes with cream-colored skin, came form behind Marion.
Oh, that's my little sister, Mocha. She locked her age at six. She has slight fear of things associated with horror.
Mocha wailed, and ran away.
"P-Plague doctor!"

Marion laughed slightly, and, ushering Caleb inside, closed the door.
