I expect you to be listening and I expect you to remember, because I will not repeat something you should know already." She met his eyes and held them. "You have far too many good things now, things you should cherish and embrace and rejoice about, to let yourself fall into any kind of abyss from the past. If you refuse that, refuse to acknowledge the great things and only focus on the terrible, then it would be better you'd never had the good things at all."
She looked away, back toward the forest.

" Guarded? No... I mean, people will notice and it's a lot harder to kidnap a royal icon. She'd be my daughter, but only insofar as royal bureaucracy is concerned. I'm not saying she'd be protected 24/7 like an animal in the zoo... but the Eirren military could be a trump card if those people come back."
