I use the books because they are a very good source on a rare subject, and they've worked out alot of the kinks in it. I've seen a rare few games, books, or other sources about psionics from which to base a character and back him up.

For the following reasons.. if they use it like they should.. they should eventually cause themselves some sort of pain or trauma from over using it.

second... just cause they can blast you in the brain doesn't mean that you can't sneak up on them.. simply because if they are that paranoid.. they will ALWAYS be jumping minds in the area.. thus making themselves tired.

So.. shoot them. Maybe Trade your brain for theirs. Double suicide.

There's no such thing as a "basis of clear knowledge". To RP, you take a concept, definition, or idea, and go your own way with it. Declaring that everything within a certain category goes according to YOUR system, however, is crude and shows a lack of skill. It's okay for me to state what is and is not psionics, because my definition of psionics is "psychic powers". It is NOT okay for you to state what is and is not psionics because the definition of psionics YOU go by is "exactly what DnD says" and you appear to want to hold everyone else to that definition as well. I don't really care whether you use the DnD rulebooks as your bible or not, it makes you that much easier to kill. However, you apply your knowledge incorrectly and thus become a walking hazard to RPs everywhere. Goddamnit why the hell is my "7" key so dirty? When the ******** do I ever hit "7"? One of these days I'm going to have to figure out how to get these keys off and wash them. The point is, that six schools s**t ONLY applies to your character. It is PERFECTLY okay to say "Under my system, there are six major types of psionics", but it is NOT okay to say "Wrong, there are six major types of psionics".
