Hwen sighed on the inside.

"Well, I did use some of the things you had taught me during our....trip...but it wasn't really the kind of moment I was particularly proud of...."

Hwen was disappointed in herself...she had lost her temper and had come very near to killing someone. Something she had vowed never to do.

And it was still Aurum talking. She wanted to cry...she wanted her best friend and teacher back, but felt totally helpless.

Hearing Aurum's words, tears started to trail down Hwen's face. She had no idea Nyl's condition had become so bad. Then again, she had been in a Guardian-induced coma for who knew how long.

"No....no...that can't be....Sensei....we have to help her!! There must be something we can do!"

"If I knew anything that could be done, it would have been done. ...Not that the rest of this dojo is very helpful. They seem to delight in attempting to kill each other..."

Aurum looked at Hwen, Nyl's features becoming almost confused.

"You know more than enough about Ijutsu to take on a Sensei position in her place."

((Looong story. Aurum is usually a subconsious. A being that shares Nyl's body with her soul and The Phoenix, another part of Nyl. ))

((it can get confusing in Nyl's head. hehe.))

"You can't possibly make be believe you care for me. And you did know that at some point she would have to die. Everything does. ...If you care so much, why didn't you help her when you were all trapped underground?"

Aurum's eyes burned brighter now, obviously angry.

((heh heh...the real reason? I was hardly on-line during the time the underground thing was happening...hmm...but I can't say that....))

Hwen's eyes went wide. "What do you mean? Of course I care....I may not have liked you at the start, but you've helped both me and Nyl...everyone has some good in them even if it takes a while to show it...."

Hwen's voice trailed off as she thought about Aurum's last statement. She simply nodded.

"No...you're right...I should've done more....but Nyl has always been so strong. She always hated being underestimated....with the medwing so busy, and me barely getting any sleep, I had just assumed that Nyl would be okay....and now we're all paying dearly for my stupid assumptions..."

Hwen choked back another sob and collapsed to the floor. She buried her face in her hands and cried uncontrollably.

He knelt next to Hwen, putting his good arm around her shoulders. He frowned, looking back up to Aurum. He frowned softly. "I should've also. I don't have any good excuse. I knew something was wrong, you even told me so. I didn't know how to help, and last time I tried helping Nyl, I was scolded afterwards." He looked at Hwen again, then closed his eyes, and standing up again, glaring at Aurum.
