*snugs Tenica* I read your journal and it makes a lot of sense. I see people taking breaks from DA for similar reasons. It seems that pressure and constant comparison to other artists can lead to a skewed idea of what ones own art is worth, and lead to confusion and conflict. Just remember that what is very popular on Gaia is not always what is best or most popular outside of Gaia, and that you should always be working on making your art the best you can do, not what you feel Gaia or other sites think is the best. I hope your leave from Gaia helps you. <3

Nora: *snugs back* Thank you, hun. It's hard enough being in art school and constantly comparing myself to everyone around than to keep adding Gaia to it and feeling ultimately put down because I don't do the norm
I might pop in just to chat, but not for extended periods of time because this place is just addictive and sometimes not good for my artistic development <3 I'll miss all the good friends I have here, though.

I think you're doing the right thing. I get so sad when I see a picture I've ordered on someone's DA and the artist comment is like; "bleeeh another gaia comission, I need to come up whith something less boring..." I feel terrible if the artist feel that way, then I rather get not get drawn at all. I want them to enyoy drawing and make it their drawing as much as mine. Hard to explain myself here. xd Hope you get it.

No, that makes clear sense. *nods gently* The more an artist enjoys doing his/her work, the better the outcome result will be for both parties involved. At least that's how it is with me.

Exactly. I very often give the artist pretty much free hands, unless I really know what I want from their samples or a special request. I got so sad when I read your journal. *hugs* Lookie I got the light WIP, cheered me up. wink  I knew it'll be this good but I'm absolutly stunned. eek heart heart heart

Aw, I'm sorry ;3; I didn't mean for my journal to make anyone sad. I'll still be easily available on AIM/MSN/DA, just not Gaia.
And ooh.. lucky! I wanted to nab a piece of Light art on the way out, but I don't think I'll be able to. That looks great <3
