Aku Kami Kurayami Wanna throw out a quick question about the Special Issue weapons. After looking over them again, I can see how the Airbursting Fragmentation Projector is actually much more useful than I used to think, but then the Cyclic Ion Blaster seems sorta week, though it has 5 shots and it can Rend. Just wanted to know what some of you thought about them in overall usefulness.FYI, The Cyclic Ion Blaster doesn't Rend. It gets a random AP1 effect, similar to the random AP2 effect on rending, but the CIB doesn't autowound the way rending does. As for the stats on the weapon; 5 shots with the possibility of AP1 is nice, but the weapon is only S3, which means it can't hurt any AV and it can't hurt T7+ critters. Considering it's price, I'd go without it.

I don't really have anyone near me that has any monstrous creatures, and there are others in the squad for anti-tank, so I'll prolly take it most of the time. I don't like the way it looks, so I'll prolly convert it to look sorta like a burst cannon and then count it as on or the other.

You'll need 5's to wound T4, which is common, and T5, which is not uncommon, will need 6's. I prefer the Airbursting Frag Projector for horde busting, and if I want AP1/2, then I go for the Plasma Rifle.

I was planning on giving him a Plasma Rifle and a CIB and one of his bodyguards is gonna have a Burst Cannon and the AFL. I'll just model the CIB to look like a Burst Cannon and a CIB. There are some pretty good conversions out there.

Neogoth666 im definitly a fan of the fragmenting rifle, because i can sit behind a wall and take pot shots at anyone in a 18" range i know i know, 18" isnt much, but for a weapon that i can move and shoot in the same turn at full distance its good. hide behind one wall and take potshots, they get to close? you move 12".... im sure another wall can be found, continue the shooting. now, im just a big fan of lots of dice (id rather have one weak weapon hit, out of 5, than, 1 powerful weapon missing) thus, i love burst cannons. but could someone refresh my memory on rending? is it auto kill on 6's? (id check my codex but im not at home) i agree sort of... i'm a fan of lots of dice buts it's the question of what you want a ton of really weak hits or a few very deadly hits that are like 90% likly to wound/kill enemies. I'm a type of person who has his troops in cover and rifle drills them to blow the enemy up before they can reach my postion in any sizable number. having the enemy break 6 inches away is always fun mrgreen . but it's what you want do you want to spam them to death with lots of weak attacks like a nid player and teragaunts or have like 8 guys with rifles almost 100% likely to down like 6-7 units a shooting phase. i'm the latter personaly.

Both sound like good tactics, that's actually what I have my Fire Warriors set up to do. I''ll just model it too like like a CIB and a Burst Cannon.
Now onto something new: Marker Drones. Useful? I think they are more useful than Pathfinders if you ask me. If you equip enough guys correctly it'll end up costing more points than a full Pathfinder squad, but you'll get more useful use of marker lights. My Scenario: Equip a stealth squad with a Marker Drone and Targeting arrays, the leader with a multi-traker, target lock, fusion blaster, and marker light. That way, he can fire at the tank while the others take the infantry and mark them, or mark another squad for someone else to shoot. Put marker lights and drones in all the Fire Warrior squads with the Sash'Ui having multi-traker and target lock, and you effectively have a 4 or 5 BS most of the time. I believe this will work, since it says that the Sky Ray can fire both it's marker lights at separate targets.

it could work in theory but i'm a fan of battle feild taxing the pathfinders into postion and maker lighting targets. because of the carbine rule for pinning and the fact they have a tank sitting right next to them makes them hard to reach and easy to transport/get away.
i mean this only works for me because i have enough shock infantry to back them up quickly if the enemy notices that they are the reason all of there expensive things are exploding wink

i understand fighing nids is no fun... dam flesh hooks climbing walls and stuff >.<, but i digress. I would rather have like stealth units on the front because of there burst cannons can pack a punch in the little guys and save my fire warriors to mop up or "shoot the big ones!!!" rule. burst cannon offer enough mass firing to be worth while and at the same time having them on big heavly armored combat suits makes it a plus for fighting them when they do hit your line. (word to the wise, you my think that you can kill all the nids before they hit your battle line, think again, i have only stopped a nid advance twice and only cause i took out enough sysnapse creatures to cause them to more or less devide into 3 diffrent groups. 1 coming at me, 1 running away, and 1 looking for cover. but the reason i'm saying this if you play any army and are fighting nids make sure to have units behind you front line able to walk in and rip up the units the start fighting with your front line squads. unless your orks, and sometimes chaos a defensive line with an elite back up units is the way to go. now orks are a diffrent thing all together they have mobs of enough size and strengh to actualy rush a nid player lol, that sounds stupid but i believe that if they get enough slugga boyz up front and charging they could beat back a nid player, plus orks are bad shots xp . this is just my personal take on this.)

bloodangels fortunately for my the nid opponent i play against only has enough nids to form a 500 point army... well, 650, but we rounded down. so with that he doesnt have bulk in his army, so i just rip his squads apart with burst cannons and smart missle systems (which i think has blast, cant remember)
