Gah. This is funny if not rediculous.

My dad and mom keep freaking out on me because I call D cute because little boys aren't cute. Little boys are handsome and little girls are cute. I put a string of beads around his ankle today because he was playing with it and I wanted to be able to keep it out of his mouth. Besides he liked them. My dad says I'm treating my son like a little girl. I don't know whether to laugh or just get annoyed. It's just so rediculous.

You should laugh; it is ridiculous. He's your son, not theirs, and you can let him play with beads and call him cute if you want to.

What's so effeminate about beads? Jesus Tapdancing Christ.

My cousin lets her little boy play with her belly dancing scarves and wrap himself in them. What's the big deal? They're kids. I used to dress up in my great-grandpa's old work suits when I was a kid and play banker. Nobody, even my grandma, who is a bit on the weird side, had a problem with it.

And who doesn't call little boys cute? I rarely hear them referred to as handsome. Handsome, in my experience, is used more for older boys.

Sheltering boys from their feminine sides is like sheltering children from tasting alcohol. If you'd never tasted alcohol, the first thing you're going to do at that party is grab a beer. Not allowing a son to explore "girls only" items can cause problems. Like with my boyfriend. He's kind of insecure about his manhood in the sense that the hypothetical idea of playing with dolls and (*gasp*) painting your nails once as a little boy seriously weirded him out.

I did laugh. I laughed a lot actually and he didn't think it was all that funny.

I call little boys cute all the time. I just always had the idea that until a certain age all children were cute. I seriously have no idea how I came from my parents sometimes because our views are so totally different when it comes to certain things.

No, D plays with dolls and anything he get his hands on really. I don't care because it's not as if it'll effect him later on in life. He's only 18 months old. I don't think it really matters if he plays with jewelry or not. I mean children his age are naturally attracted to things that are bright and colorful. Of course he's going to want to play with my bracelets. I have like 3 or 4 that are really brightly colored and glittery because I'm a glitter loving person. Either way it's just really dumb and really annoying.

Most of the boys I knew when I was in pre-K and elementary school loved playing house and dress up with us. They thought it was a blast. Natalie and I even had a few of our male friends play Barbies with us in first and second grade.

Update from the resident "Lurking Mod" and "b***h Goddess"

I've been in and out over the space of the last few months, completely dissapearing last month to spend much deserved time with my husband. This cycle unfortunately will continue for at least another six months before I can come back into my duties full tilt and with a vengence. The reasons for my intermittant appearances and odd dissapearances are as follows.....

1 - Reality comes first.
2 - Mid court battle.
3 - Stay at home mom.
4 - Basically a single parent while hubby is deployed.
5 - Preparing to move sometime in the next 4-5 months.
6 - Other net responsibilities such as updating sites I host.
7 - Writing for a magazine.
8 - Working on formal publication.
9 - Editing literary works for established authors.
10 - Writing horror reviews for Shocklines and IR.
11 - More court battles.
12 - Random trips to other states. For VERY good reason.
13 - Daily cleaning and other household responsibilities.
14 - Sick dalmation.
15 - Hyperextended knee.
16 - Staph infection. (which is mostly healed but needs to be checked weekly)

And that's just the immediate things that happen near daily. Other random improbabilities happen and since they are random, there's no way to prepare for them. As always, MY KIDS COME FIRST! If some people here can't realize and/or accept that, then find yourself another guild.

Remember this always - I've declared myself the b***h Goddess of this guild, and I mean it. I'm always in a mood, and net stupidity and usless flames and/or arguements earn yourself a "b***h Hit" or a deletion/modification of your post. If you feel the imperative need to get bitchy with a mod who's been nothing but polite, and nice (if a little sarcastic) with you, then get bitchy with me. I give as good as I get, and I do have the power to end your stupidity here immediately. Yep. That's a threat.

Loki will probably have my head for it when she comes back, but some people seem of the mind that since the guild leader is gone, they can abuse the mods and the guild. NOT HAPPENING ANY MORE! GOT IT!

If you have a personal problem with ANYONE here. TAKE IT TO THE PM'S! THIS IS NOT A PLACE FOR PERSONAL DRAMA AND/OR BASHING. I DON'T WANT TO READ YOUR DRAMA AND ANGST.

You are the swooping doom and this is me ducking for cover. xp

No, I don't duck because I don't really cause trouble if I can help it.

Lol. I know you aren't a trouble maker. My rants aren't directed to those who behave, just those who make it their mission to make others miserable and be general asshats.

That's good to know. Ironically enough I really don't like to argue with people. It's more stress than I like to deal with.

* stumbles on to the chat bleary eyed and in desperate need of coffee. Walks full-tilt into Illiana laying the smack down on the wicked. Panics, and assumes he must have done something very, very bad (a pretty good assumption, generally)*

I'm sorrrry! I'll never do whatever I might have done again!!! Waaaaaaa! gonk
