I do that too. I love to put myself in the books and just emerse myself in it. Fourth and fifth graders were all obsessed with A Series of Unfortunate Events at my school. Those books were so amazing. The dark humor and constant sarcasm makes me love the books and makes me sad the series is over. That's so cool! I would have loved to do that when I was little. I dressed up like Sunny for one Halloween (which is hilarious and obsurd because I'm way too tall to be her). You're so lucky. I have 3, 10-13, and 7 in paperback the rest in hardcover.

I've never read a Series of Unfortunate Events. What are they about? A majority of what I read is fantasy or books like what Lurlene McDaniel writes. My favorite series are Harry Potter, Inheritance (Eragon), Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, Heir Trilogy, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I also like books that are set in historical time periods, like Enter Three Witches, and A Coming Evil.
I really like put myself in the book. Like when I read, and I have the little movie playing through my head, I sort of place myself in the book like I'm observing what's going on. And when my friends read the same books that I do (and they do for the most part), we have REALLY long discussions about them.

Blanc: My whole school was obsessed with them. It kind of got me into them, I guess. My teacher would read them to us in class...this was back when we had a Reading class, and that would be instead of the class, so we didn't have homework AND we got to listen to an awesome book. I ended up reading them all on my own, and loved them!
Nariko: They're about 3 siblings, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny, who're at a beach when their parents die in a house fire and leave behind a huge fortune. Well, Mr. Poe, a family friend, takes them to live with this guy Count Olaf, who only wants their fortune. So they get sent to a bunch of different guardians and Count Olaf follows them everywhere, wearing some kind of disguise, and they have to convince their guardians that he's really after their fortune. Most of them end up dying...it's really depressing, actually. But yet, very addicting.
I want to read Eragon one of these days...are they good?
Oh I have long discussions about books too. They're so much fun!

Kineka: I wish my elementry school was that awesome! I spent every waking hour in the library at my elementry school. The librarians knew me by name and I was a library helper in 5th grade. Those were some good times (:
Nariko: Exactly what Kineka said. It is a little depressing, but if you like sarcasm and dark humor it's a great book series. I never really got into Eragon. Maybe if I re-read it.

Blanc: I wasn't allowed to be in the library unless we went as a class. It was closed before and after school...but it wasn't even that big, so I didn't really mind. I just went to the public library...or Half Prince Books. Love that place smile .
I saw the movie was on ABC Family...I was debating watching it, but then I was like "Okay, maybe not...I'll read it first."

Kineka: If you finished your work early, you'd get a pass to go to the library. There was a reading loft with couches and beanbags that you could sit in and read. Man, now I really miss elementry school :c The library in my highschool is hardly as cool. I went to go see the movie with friends, I didn't like it too much. I don't really remember much of it or the book actually.

Blanc: Oooh okay. I wish my elementary school was that cool...our library was really small...I wouldn't even consider it a library. It was just about maybe 3 rows of books going along a corner of a room where people had meetings, but no one was using every day. They had band practice in there, choir practice, we did presentations in there sometimes...it's not like a normal library. My high school library looks like a normal public one, except it's only on one floor. But I never get a chance to go in there for fun since we can't just go when we want to and after school, it's only open for a little bit, then they kick you out. But I can walk to the public library, so I just go there.

Kineka: I loved my elementry and middle school libraries. They were absolutely amazing. My highschool's library is not that great and it's always filled with people doing homework assignments at the last minute. The librarians are really sweet ladies who are more then helpful though (:

My library in elementary school was pretty much just like any library except smaller. We usually went down as a class once a week, or as we got older (4th and 5th grade) we could go down there if we got our work done early or it was free time. The librarians were really nice, and they knew most of us by name if we had gone there since kindergarten or 1st grade. My high school library is ok, I usually don't go down there unless I have to use the computers because I get most of my books from home or the public library, but the head librarian is pretty cool. His wife actually was the assistant principal at my elementary school for a couple of years.
Kineka: Eragon is an amazing book series, and you should definitely read them. The movie is A LOT different, so don't compare the two, because they change a lot and leave a lot out. Basically the movie was poorly done, but still a good movie if you don't compare it to the book.

Wow, there were 4 more pages from when I left.
Thanks to everyone I had a lot of fun with my family and such. San Francisco is cold but beautiful coastal redwoods and pines. I did get carsick along the coast highway 1 along these crazy windy hills at the coast but the view was beautiful.
From what I can see we talked about disney princesses, pocahontas was my favorite, I always knew that Jasmine was arabian, maybe because I'm a minority myself so I always knew they weren't caucasian?
Are we talking about books? I started reading in spanish then I went to english with Sleeping Beauty and I didn't really start reading chapter books until Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone came out when I was 8. I really got into reading then, I used to check out tons of books at a time and I read them all then....How did I do that? whee
I got a job! I start on Friday. Thank the Lord! I am very happy, especially they raised my tuition fees by $360 dollars!

Man, you guys are so lucky. Maybe the fact that I went to a private school had something to do with it. The school overall was small, and the library was just kind of stuck into another room and we weren't really allowed to do anything in there. It was just like, check out your book and leave. My high school library is better, we at least get to read if we're in the library for a class, like using the computers. If we finish early, we can go out into the library and look at stuff.
Nariko: So it's basically like what they did with HP? razz . Well, I'll read it eventually.
Para: Aww I'm sorry about your carsickness. You might want to find some pills to take for that next time you go on a long trip...I have to do that now.
Yeah, Pocahontas was my favorite too, Jasmine was my favorite later on. But, for me, the only black people I saw were Spanish and I mean, REALLY Spanish. So I just thought she was tan. She also didn't have an accent because of the white person playing her...
Just out of curiousity, what nationality are you? If you started reading in Spanish, you must not be completely Caucasion.
That's cool! Hope you like it....I can't believe I said that about work... razz .

Kineka: What they did with Eragon is worse. With HP they made it so that they could easily turn the next book into a movie and still have all the major plot and events and such. But with Eragon, they left out really important parts that play a big role in either Eldest or Brisingr, so it would be really hard to turn them into movies...I think that's why they haven't done Eldest yet (or ever). My friends and I think that they should make a second Eragon, one that stays closer to the book.
Para: Was San Francisco fun? I've never been out west anywhere...never gone past Iowa. It's too bad you got carsick...I don't think that's ever happened to me, but it must suck. What's your job? I wish I could get one but I'm only 15, so all I do is volunteer at my dance studio one night a week to help with the younger kids (they are so adorable when they dance).

I hated that Eragon movie! It was so disappointing it threw me off the books for a while. Kineka: I'm Mexican American, like to call myself Chicana, so you're right I'm not really Caucasian. Even though my race is considered white because of the spanish blood in mexicans. No matter how light... San Francisco was fun but cold, I might start taking Dramamine with me. I work at my local community college book shop. It so fits me, its not even funny. I went to a private school that stopped me from reading HP in 6th grade, my mom believed the lady that "its the devils books", I sure hated it but I read them under the covers at night. xp On a more melancholy note, one of my dearest friends is in a coma due to a brain tumor. She's only 20, and I just went to see her at the hospital today. I just found out today also, I'm very sad and depressed because of it. I prayed to God and the Virgen de Guadalupe for her. Her parents are pulling the plug this week even though I think its too soon. Shes only been comatose since Sunday. I will always cherish my memories of me with her, doing girly stuff like shopping, going on gaia, me talking my problems about her and her being such a good person that she is, she always listened. I miss her and I love her as a very good friend. I think she's too young to die, but what can I do? God only knows what he does. sad crying I've had my share of tears and well, I'm sick of crying. She's on gaia if you want to find her. Here is the link. http://www.gaiaonline.com/p/3792632 So rest in peace Jasmin, I miss you and I will pray for you and your family.

Para: Oh my goodness ): I'm very sorry to hear about that. It's always hard to loose a friend or loved ones. Bad things happen to good people for reasons no one will ever know. One can only hope or know that they'll go to a better place.

Para: Oh my gosh...I'm so sorry about your friend sad . You're right, 20 is too young to die, but it kind of depends on the condition of the person. But, like Blanc said, she will be going to a better place and she won't be in anymore pain.
Nariko: Oh, okay. How can they do that, really? If they leave out things that are important, how can they even think of continuing it?
