(I'm back from vacation... and you all know what that means. Trouble.)

The city was more then a hub of checkpoints, and as the repulsor car rounded a corner it discovered just what that meant.

Walking down the street was a Fleet Infantry Patrol following the glinting grey hulk of a 1-L Repulsortank. The rearmost patrolman turned as he heard the sound, and raised his rifle.

Once the Imp was gone, Charr picked up his supplies, loaded up his truck, and made his way discreetly for the edge of town.
As he drove, he noticed that houses that used to belong to nonhuman friends and customers of his were for the most part empty and for sale.
This fact bothered him no small amount as he made for to leave town.
Things were going downhill in a hurry. It was best he got his rear elsewhere, back to the Veld where he knew he was safe.

Rate heard the loud engines of the repulsor tank and the dust-buildup long before he saw it, backing up he slide the slim landspeeder into a back-alley and pulled the sun-shade over the cockpit and made his way throguh the alley, they would lose a minute or so of time, but avoid the tank and be out of the city in easy time.

Not a minute went by before they passed the empty checkpoint and turned out into the empty wastes, without lights on the vehicle, they quckly slipped out of sight from the city.

"That was close..."Rate said turning back to look at the lights of the city as the dawn began to turn the black of night into a purple.

"Yeah..." Lenler said, in a voice so low that it was nearly a mumble. He sunk down lower in his seat, as if being lower would prevent the entire speeder from being seen. "They might still be following though. I'd be careful."

Now back at his sod hutt and listening to his Radio, Charr was lugging out his supplies and stashing them in the cellar.
Powercells, salt, Vaporator filters; he aquired all that he thought he would need to survive for a few months in the Veld.
It was something of an extended vacation.
And he was fairly sure the Imps would never venture out this far to find him.
As he worked, the radio began to spout some very odd news, declarations of the movement of Nonhumans to internment camps.
That gave him pause.
Then came the COMPNOR recruitment add and the propaganda, broadcasting the idea of inate human superiority and the concept of Human High Culture.
That made him angry.

Kara Aryss returned to her squad's lodgings and set up the maintenance schedule for the newly aquired droid.

She affixed a restaining bolt onto it, uploaded the schematics of the vehicle into the droid so it knew what was supposed to go where and set it to work on fixing the wireing of the Repulsorcraft.

With that, her squad turned in for the evening, leaving the droid to work on through the night.

Rounding up the aliens was some of the most difficult work Ford ever went through. He'd been on Kashhyyk, and as far as hunting went, that was the biggest piece of cake. However, herding the aliens was equally difficult, on a different level.

Most of them simply refused to leave wherever they were going. They were stubborn, and they didn't have a single translator to peacefully tell them to go. Most ended up complying, but the more stubborn ones required a protocol unit to at least let them know what was wanted. Even then, they needed to drag the person out.

The vast majority of the aliens were native Seya-Qu'ons, Bith, Rodians, Duros, and a few Gran and Dug. The rest, just over half, were human. These came more quitely, due to their mostly human bodies and their general fear of E-11s. The humans were sent to a seperate part of the city, where enough living space had been set up.

All in all, there were no casualties, and few scuffles the resolved into physical force. By nightfall, they were herded into the designated facilities, so that their residences could be 'scanned and cleansed of any rebel activity.'

In the mean time, what had once been all their homes was to be reorganized for more fitting Imperial structures. In a matter of weeks, months if it took that long, this would be a proper Imperial city...

It was a long hunting day. At any given point, he had never travelled out of eyesight of his shelter. Armed with his blaster pistol and two makeshift clubs, he was pretty sure of his own abilities to defend himself, but if he was confronted by animals, he never stayed to find out. It was hard, with only water from scattered plants, dew from the night before, and the occasional puddle. He did not like being a scavenger, but it was necessary. He had been using the Alpha Males carcass for meat, but after a while it went bad.

He peaked over a hill and saw the comforting sight, of the house. The only place he knew he was safe. So he moved towards it at a jog, anxious to rest again after hours of hunting.

The sun beat down on the man and young boy as Rate finished repairing the speeder to its formal efficiency. Closing the hatch to the engine he grabbed up the tools and set them in their space and slid back into the shaded cap of the vehicle.

"Ok, we're good."
Rate said as he started'er up and they drove on into the Savannah, Rate made sure to hang the medal so that it would catch the eye of anyone looking through the windshield.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 20, 2007 4:48 pm

At that moment, a crack echoed out across the Veld.
In an instant the windshield was spiderwebbed with cracks, a 6mm slug passing between the two humans and cracking the back window on it's way through the speeder's cab.
A second crack sounded out, followed by a third, the sounds distorted and warped by the terrain. One round pierced the hood of the vehicle while the second smashed a headlight.

Rate pulled a sharp turn towards where the shots came from, nabing the medal and pushing Lenler and himself out of the speeders dorr on the kids side and pressing him onto the dirt as they used the speeder for cover."Bloody hell that was close. FAR to close than what I like..." Peering down at the medal, he too a wild guess and tossed it up onto the hood of the speeder in plan sight for a scope."If this isn't him kid, we're dead with that kind of accuracy."Rate whispered as his DL slide from his holster.

All was quiet on the Veld.
No noise, aside from the rustle of the windblown grasses and the idleing speeder.
Then a voice called out, it's direction unknown.
"Drop your guns and throw 'em over the speeder where I can see 'em! Including the hidden ones. And if I dont see a hold-out or a sleeve-gun clear that hood, then you only got yourselves to blame for what happens next! 'cause I know you got 'em. Bounty hunters always pack spares!"

"If this is him, and you fire a shot, we're dead anyway." Lenler said. He had med Sep before, and while they didn't really know each other, he knew enough that anyone firing at him, whatever the intentions wouldn't be around much longer, in any circumstances. "I'd put the gun away."

He looked down at himself, certainly afraid, but thinking. If he could just find... Of course! His shirt, while dirty from a day of wear, and slightly bloodied from shards of windshield that had hit him, was, extremely fortunately for him, white. Pulling it off, he tied it quickly to a stick that lay on the ground right beside him, Taking his makeshift white flag, he waved it in the air above their cover, making sure that no part of his body left cover, just in case.

Then, he did what the voice he'd heard had said, taking the pistol from his inner holster (Bringing the holster with it, just for good measure), and, motioning for Rate to do the same, tossed it over the hood of the speeder.

The Sniper seemed to note the white flag, but kept firm in his requierments for their surrender.
"Throw the guns over the side of the speeder, then stand with your hands in the air. First one to make any funny moves gets a hollowpoint in their nasal cavity."

Lenler stood up immediately, hands in the air. He didn't even look to see if Rate was doing the same, reasoning that even a sideways glance could be interpreted as a threat. Rate's a big boy he thought. He can stand up by himself.

He just stood there, hands above his head, holding the flag between his hands, waiting for someone to move first. Either Rate would stand up, or do something stupid and get himself (and maybe Lenler too) killed...
