"Living dead?" Asherah's pupils narrowed as she looked at Rethir, then to Enki, then the path ahead. She had dealt with the living death long ago, they were some pretty nasty bastards, but she couldn't be too sure what they were in this situation though. It was just an option.
"What caused it I wonder..."

"I do not know," Rethir whispered. "They said nothing . . . only screamed and attacked us . . ." She stumbled for a moment, but managed to recover herself as she muttered, mostly to herself, "May the Gods have mercy upon us all . . ."

Enki cocks his other eyebrow at this insinuation. Mind you, he's no stranger to the living dead, but zombie dragons? "Ok... I'm no stranger to the living dead, but zombie dragons? Won't that leave them more or less indestructible?" He looks to Asherah with a vaguely worried look upon his face, though the eyebrow still raised, "I think we'd better try and get her to a town as soon as we possibly can. I figure, an island like this with people such as these must have some sort of folklore on something of this magnitude."

"Less talky. More walky."
Asherah said as she bared the weight that Enki took off of her. She then began to pick up the pace with a grunt. All she wanted to do was get Rethir to her village. There was something bad headed their way, and she knew it wouldn't end up well. But they were nearing the village.
"I feel like there's something watching Enki, this isn't good."

Speak of the devil, and you shall hear the flap of his wings.
No sooner than Asherah had spoken when the mist seeped through the trees behind them, and rolled over them like a slow-moving tide. Suddenly, what was once bright and clear sunlight turned into a gray, murky twilight. They would now be unable to see more than 15 feet in front of them. And the sounds of the rainforest would fall into dead silence.
Between the two of them, Rethir froze up and whimpered pitifully as she began looking around frantically. "Oh Gods . . . save me . . ." she whispered as tears began to drip down her face.
Dark shapes stirred beyond the screen of mist . . .

Enki stops dead in his tracks and glances around. He pulls both the Draconian and Asherah close to him as his eyes glow a bright blue. Under normal circumstances, Enki would be able to see each and every molecule of the mist and everything moving within it... but somerhing was wrong here. Enki is getting odd swirls of mist and empty spaces where his normal vision SEES mist, but otherwise he can't detect. "No good..." he says somewhat cryptically. "Run... as fast as you can..." His eyes continues to glow bright as little tiny beads of water starts shooting toward Enki and clinging to his coat, his hand unscrewing the bottle of water in his pocket.

"But Rethir! She can't run!"
Her mind frantically searched for answers, but she couldn't decide what to do. Asherah's hands gripped at Rethir's hide, and gathered up some of Enki's clothing.
"I'm not running." She said softly. "I'm staying here..."

.Antique Heartbeat. "But Rethir! She can't r--" Rethir cut her off in mid-sentence with a terrified roar . . . and suddenly pulled away from Asherah and began limping toward the village as fast as her legs could carry her. It was extremely agonizing for the female Draconian, but outright terror and adrenaline lent her a determination that could overcome almost any pain. Asherah would have to hurry to keep up, though. Rethir wouldn't be able to keep up this pace for long on her own. Meanwhile, in the fog, dark silhouettes began to take shape . . .

Enki's eyes stay blue as the top half of his coat is now coated in little water droplets, a small snake of water trailing down his legs toward his feet. The snake splits off to each leg and goes down to his feet, creating a small trail of ice in front of his feet. He kicks off and skids across it like ice-skates, the trails lifting and slipping down in front of his feet again as his souls touch the ground, the little water droplets forming into little ice spikes as he goes, constantly looking behind and around him, watching the silhouettes moving around him. He picks up Asherah into his arms and holds her close as he catches up to Rethir.

Asherah yelped as he scooped her up. Her long ears were pinned down in fear. A fear she'd soon need to shake. Her eyes slithered past each of the silhouettes, trying to make out what they were.
"Rethir! Wait!" She called out loudy, but she knew it fell upon deaf ears.
The silhouettes were further condensing into solid beings, but Asherah still couldn't see what they were.
"Enki we need to get her..."

The two of them would closing in on her . . . when suddenly, a Draconian missing its jaw and one eye came rearing out of the mist, bashing her from the side and knocking her on her back. Rethir let out a roaring shriek of outright terror as she looked up at it, and the undead beast raised a clawed hand above its head to slice her open like a piece of cattle.

"Oh, hell no!" Enki yells as two of the little spikes shoot out of his coat, heading straight for the dead-things head while still skating as quickly as he could toward the downed Rethir. As he stated, he's no stranger to the living dead.

Asherah wiggled out of Enki's arms and fell to her feet. As first she slipped on the ice, but managed to run off onto dirt. And with this, she could run faster to Rethir's aid, or at least to smash the beast back. And as she arrived, and as the spikes hopefully stuck the beast, Asherah punched the rotting creature with all her might, sending it flying back.
"Rethir go!"

Fortunately, one of the ice spikes find its way right into the creature's rotting eye socket, and impaled its brain. The thing seemed to pause in suspended animation . . . until Asherah's punch sent it tumbling to the ground, never to move again.
Unfortunately, as Rethir tried to rise, her legs refused to help her up. Having given out, they were reluctant to support her weight again, even as footfalls and snarls could be heard closing in beyond the mist . . .

"Ok, head is the weak point. Good to see their normal zombies. Rethir, get the hell up or we all die!" The little ice trails that Enki had made form back into water. Enki lifts up the Draconians left side as the ice turns into a large crutch for her right side. "We move now!"
