Julian's expression shifted into something so dark and vicious that Crow recoiled. But it was only for an instant, gone so fast she was sure she had imagined it. He looked only angry, and very, very uncertain. His eyes traveled to Rabid's body and it shifted into an agony of confusion. He took a step back, looking down at Hellis, almost begging for advice. He didn't know what to do, outside of reaching out and breaking Mela's neck for proposing something so vile.
But that sudden thought, while appealing, had little use for their current situation.

Hellis, disregarding whatever personal bubble Julian might have, grabbed the slightaly taller man's face in his hands and shook his own head violently.
"I don't know," Björn said, addressing Mela, "I can see that causing...some pretty big issues later on."
"Was I speaking to you?" Mela snapped, her mood gone from the sweet hostess to a vile creature in point-five seconds.

Thoughts spinning, weighing the good against the horribly, nauseatingly bad, Julian looked at Hellis with a pained expression. It would be so much simpler, a few ordered thoughts whispered in the back of his head, to just kill the b***h and find someone else. He shook his head hard, closing his eyes. No, no, no. He'd already killed three times recently. He didn't want to do it again. He wanted this to be simple. Simple. Easy. He did want to kill her. He could. Snap her neck in two. They'd go, and they'd find someone else, and Rabid would be alright.
Or... he could spend the night with Mela, and to hell with the consequences.
His eyes shot open, his breath catching.
"No."
His voice was ice cold and hard as stone. He looked at Mela, pushing every single thought into the back of his mind, ignoring them all.
"No."

Hellis smiled and gave a sigh of relief, going limp against Julian for a moment. He returned to Björn slowly, grasping his hand.
Mela's expression turned desperately angry, and then plenty happy.
"Leave."

Swallowing the canine growl that threatened to burst out of her, Crow grabbed Julian by the arm and dragged him along with her. He looked torn and tired, and followed after her obediently. Ethan, arms crossed, gripped the hilts of knives hidden under his shirt and tried to think of a plan, only to give a yelp as Lenore pushed him towards the door.
Muttering curses and feathers rattling, Len escorted Ethan out, wishing very hard she would be allowed to take a few swings at the repugnant Elf woman.

Björn reached down to close and take the trunk, and recieved a small foot to the hand.
"Ow. What's your problem?"
"I'm keeping this."
Björn laughed.
"Like Hell you are!"
And then Mela did the lowest of the low. She jumped up and kicked Björn in the groin, quickly recieving a smack to the chest and a trip across the room.
Björn closed the trunk, lifted it with some difficulty, and joined the others outside.
Hellis looked horrified.

Outside, it was Crow that needed to be restrained.
"That dirty lowdown no good sumbitch cockfaced little b***h I'll rip her ******** throat out Lenore Ligeia you let me go RIGHT NOW-"
Len sighed, tightening her grip on Crow's collar.
"Mum. Chill."
"You saw! She! Julian! Kicked Björn! Let me go!"
Len just sighed again, trying to will her feathers to still themselves.
Julian, at a loss for words, drowning in guilt he couldn't begin to try to figure out, brushed his hair out of his face. He looked very ill.
"I should have..." he said, trailing off. Should have killed her. Should have snapped her neck, twisted her head from her shoulders. He shook his head. "I've messed everything up."
Ethan gripped his shoulder reassuringly before bolting to Björn, looking worried.

Björn cringed and patted Ethan's head.
"I'm fine. Nnf."
Hellis sighed, brow furrowed. Had he really messed things up? It didn't feel like it.
"Oh, no," a male voice suddenly erupted from the foliage as a clan of four Elves appeared, "She's no more powerful than a stone." The redhead sighed and nodded.
"I apologize for her behaviour. I'm Naur."
"Alu."
"Arda."
There was a short pause, and Arda elbowed her brother in the chest.
"NNFH. Vilya."
Naur spoke up again.
"We're the people you were looking for."
And then: "'Lo, Mister Djdain."
Hellis grinned and waved violently. Yes, these were the faces he had woken up to.

Grinding her teeth, certain she'd cracked one or two, Crow was still too angry to manage more than a nod. Julian, not even daring to look hopeful, waved limply.
Wings spreading and folding with hollow metallic clicks in her continued anxiety, Lenore finally let Crow go.
"Hey," she said dully.
Looking more hopeful because of Hellis, Ethan managed a small smile.

"Come with us, please," Naur instructed and headed back into the trees, motioning for the others to follow.
Björn shrugged and followed the group.
"Well, it can't hurt."

Crow stormed after, wrenching Julian's arm and forcing him to follow.
"Crow," he said after a moment, voice tight, "Your claws are slashing my wrist open."
"So?"
"I need that to live."
"You've got another one."
Walking beside Ethan and Hellis, Len made a face, shaking her head and not bothering to comment.

Hellis looked to Len an blinked. She'd been nice. She waved. He grabbed her hand.
The siblings led the group into a vaguely square-shaped clearing and taken up a corner each. Naur, who was showing himself as the leader of the group, motioned toward the centre of the square where a large, crude circle had been drawn in the dirt.
"Please place the body within the circle," he nodded.
Björn looked to Julian.
"Frankly, I think you'd better do this. Your girlfriend and all."

"Hm?"
Len looked at Hellis and tokked in approval, grinning. Gods, but he was cute. She swung her arm slightly as they walked, fingers wrapped loosely around his hand.
Rescuing his abused wrist from Crow, Julian looked at the trunk and nodded. Undoing the catches, he pushed the lid up and felt his breath catch again. Gathering Rabid's body up in his arms, he hefted up the dead weight and stumbled for a moment, trying to steady himself. He carried her into the circle and laid her down carefully, as though he was afraid she'd shatter if he moved too quickly.

Hellis giggled slightly at the noise and swung his hand with Len's.
Björn looked down fondly for a moment, and then turned back to Julian.
"Alright," Naur nodded, smiling comfortingly, "Step out of the circle, please. It won't take long at all."

Defying reality, Lenore giggled. She was nothing if not reminded of a puppy for some reason. Maybe a bunny. Or some incredibly universe-defying mix between the two.
Julian stood and crept back, watching with a mask-like expression. Crow touched his shoulder, making him jump, then lean against her in need of support. She looked at Rabid mournfully, biting at her claws and cutting her lip absently.
