"What makes you think you can kill her, hmn?..Her power is something that can not be rivaled. It is..overwhelming to witness. I once tried to dive into her mind, only for a brief second..." His voice faded, and he placed a hand on his staff. "I came here to see if you have become an almighty SeeD yet."

Tiana shook her head. "To die trying would be better than having to tolerate the hold she has over you," she spat. "One of these days...you'll have to choose. I hope you're ready when you do."

Vikki [ Doll ] Marino Vikki got him close enough to the twon that she could sit him down. They had made it almost al the way back to the dock, so she sat him down against a rock. Once she got him settled, she sat down beside him. "How you doing over there?" She asked him, not sur eif she would get an answer. She still didn't even know his name, Tiana had told her but she hadn't really been paying attention. *He sits there with his hands in his lap, his face barely moving* I'm fine. Throw me in battle with him again, I'll beat him next time. Him and his cheap tricks are no match for me! *He bowed his head again, through with his strongman talk*

"Choose?..." Davrick repeated, quietly, the ocean wind causing his raven black hair to seem almost alive out of his hood. "I have only one path to follow...you wouldn't understand. Sigma, you, the other students, you're all just sacrifices of a new age...an age of peace that will follow the final bloodshed. Don't you sacrifice yourself with the rest, Tiana. You can survive and see this new age with me."

Tiana slumped back down onto the sand, staring listlessly at the waves as they broke upon the beach. "If only you cared about me half as much as that cause of yours..." she muttered.

"Don't you see?.." His face twisted into a scowl. "I have sacrificed so much....I've transformed...into something more. This cause I fight for, it's just as important for you as it is me. In time you will see that." He cast his hood away from his face, allowing his hair to flow over his bandage.

She spun to face him, snarling. Startled, the firelizard hatching squeaked and went between to Tiana's dorm room, though she hadn't a clue where it had gone. The connection in her mind was still there, so she didn't pay any attention, still glaring at Kalo. "The only way it's important to me is that I look forward to the day I am able to free even one more person from the clutches of that evil, mutated b***h."

Davrick turned to her, raising an extended arm towards her, pushing into her mind forcefully, causing extreme pain. "You dare speak to her in such a way in my presence?"

Tiana snarled as she shrieked in pain and fury. "Yes," she hissed. "You're...an irritance to Garden...a fly in the scheme of things...no more," she forced out through gritted teeth. "So don't flatter yourself. That mannish b***h is who they're worried about." Clenching her jaw, she spat defiantly and glared back at him.

"Better to be a fly in the world than that of a pawn, Tianna." He said, lowering his hand as he began to calm his nerves. "Don't forget who developes the strategies of war...all I need is a glance."

She growled at the thought, her temper rising still further. "Betray me like that and you'll never see me again other than as enemies."

"I simply ask that you don't undermine my abilities. I could easily spread word about the Headmaster still out cold after his run in...But I hold my tongue. Why is that do you wonder?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

She simply stared at him for a few minutes quietly, calming slightly as the thought of the implications of that. After a long silence, she sighed. "That still doesn't excuse what you did to me. You left. When I tried to move on...only then did you decide to come back." She shrugged. "Was it simply that you needed a reminder not to take me for granted?"

"Of course not. But I can't simply ignore my role in the wheel of fate. I have an obligation to uphold. You must understand that." Davrick said, grabbing a handful of sand and raising it in a fist, slowly letting the sand flow back to the earth. "I'm quite the historian." He changed the subect, "Did you know that the first inhabitants of Fisherman's Horizon came from Balamb?...many relatives from both sides have never met, but there is a keen resemblance..unmistakable."

"Fate is a foolish term used for the chains that we bind ourselves with. It's an excuse." Tiana shrugged. "You could break them, but you don't wish to." At the mention of FH, she snorted. "What has that to do with I? I'm a native of Timber."
