Centigrade
So has anyone had a game of Apocalypse yet?

I have not yet myself as I want my first game to be against my best friends Nids. So I am going to have to wait intill late December when he go's back home from Uni for the holidays.

Can't wait intill a try out a Barracuda or two out on his nids. But knowing him he will use a Bio Titan against me but I will just see that as a huge challenge^^
Now that's a battle report I'd like to read. biggrin

I'm new to WH40k so I don't think I'll be playing Apocalypse anytime soon, but would I LOVE to watch one...

Yeah we intend on making it one hell of a game^^

You will likely be able to see one being played down a Games-Workshop store as I think they are having some sort of event in their stores to do with Apocalypse. Can't remember when but it is on some weekend very soon(Maybe even this weekend).

So out of curiosity Delpheus what army are you going to collect?

Now that there's no real force organisation chart, would it not be possible to field whole Vespid armies, whole armies of possessed Chaos Marines, and whole armies of Terminators?

whole army of terminators exists already in the form of Deathwing ^^

Chaos Terminators, sorry.

It can be done, but to what end really? Such a grouping of terminators would only be useful for Apocalypse typed games. Any normal game would be useless for such a thing.

If you get a big throbbing hard-on at the sight of terminators or in my case, Imperial Guard tanks, then Apocalypse lets you do just that for shits and giggles. Plus, Apocalypse is more of a team effort, so hopefully your team members will balance things out with their own selections. Failing that, strategic assets chosen by the enemy can even things out, though I do think that an all-terminator army would be outnumbered by quite a few, deep striking with flaming daemonic weapons or not.

Apocalypse is more designed for the player to bring along his or her whole miniature collection. Sure, GW is cranking out special formation boxes sets until the end of this year, but the focus is titanic battles with all your minis involved.

Yep Lt. Brookman hit the nail on the head and I could not describe what Apocalypse is any better.

Besides the only rule for Apocalypse was that each side needs to be at least 3000 points and thats it.

Tau. I like their fluff, they fit my overall play style, and I think they look cool.

Cool I play Tau aswell^^

Just a word of advice you may lose more often that you win with Tau at first(It took me about 12 games to get m,y first win but now my win/loss ratio is much more acceptable). They take a little while to get the hang of but once you figure them out you will be blowing bits off of your enemies left right and center^^

Yeah, this is an older thread but since I'm currently working on building an Apocalyptic army I figured this is the most relevant one. I'm one of those people who really really hate painting. Modeling is fine and I love actually playing the game but I hate painting. So I mostly buy painted stuff off of ebay. Anyways in honor of Apocalypse I've begun assembling an Imperial army. I just purchased the cornerstone in the form of a painted Baneblade. In the long run I intend for my Apocalypse army to predominantly be an Imperial Guard regiment(with lots and lots and lots of vehicles) with Inquisition and Space Marine support. I want to get one more Baneblade to go with the one I just got but I probably won't be looking until May for a 2nd one.

Later on I intend to also expand my ork army but finding good ork superheavy vehicles on Ebay hasn't been as easy as finding good Imperial ones.

*boggle* Why are you looking for Ork superheavies on Ebay? Orks are the best race for scratchbuilding and kitbashing your own models because it's easy. It's not like trying to scratchbuild a Tau superheavy.

Because I'm a terrible terrible painter. I don't have the steady hand necessary. While orks allow a certain level of leeway for that, they don't allow the leeway for exactly how bad a painter I am. xd

Well, Id say maybe hodge podge already painted models together for some ork super heavies, or find someone local to do it. That or practice some painting.

By the way, thank you for using this thread instead of making a new one.
