Cain looked over at the Captain. The man was doing the job of the First Mate. Did that mean that the ship was lacking in a First Mate? That was weird. Such a grand ship and it didn't have one. Perhaps he would be made it? Cain gave a couple of chuckles at the thought and passed it off as nothing. He assumed he would get a role as a cleaner or something. Or somewhere in the cargo place or something. He wa always good with the cargo and orders.
Zeiser asked Cain for the invitation. Out from the back pocket it came. "She hasn't. Here it is." Cain said as he handed over the invitation. He hadn't even read the whole thing. All that he actually did read was something about him being invited to be a crew member on the Seraphim, and where he could find it. That's all he read up too. He knew there was more too. Perhaps he should of read it before he handed it over to the Captain, but that was too late now. It probably didn't matter anyways.
Cain eagerly awaited the response of the captain as he looked over the invitation. "Well?"

Zeiser lifted the invitation and read it over quickly. The ghost of a smile graced his features for a split second then dissipated. He lifted his eyes to meet Cain's and searched them briefly, curious as to who this elf truly was. There seemed to him something hidden beyond the plain boyish charm, and he intended to find out in time.
With a nod, he held the invitation back to him. "Welcome aboard, Cain. As of now, you are First Mate." He offered his hand to shake. "I was beginning to wonder if I was ever going to be given some assistance. If you'll allow me some time to go meet with our other newcomer, I'll be back shortly to help you get a feel for your requirements." Surely there was something much greater in this youthful elf named Cain if he was to be the First Mate. Zeiser couldn't wait to better understand him. For now, though, he had duties to attend. Hell, he always had duties to attend. The duties were just urgent than normal.

Cain took back his invitation, this time with a slight shock. He looked over the invitation and sure enough it said 'First Mate' on it. Cain's body was becoming overwhelmed with joy. He'd be able to stay on the lovely ship, an was able to be an important role on it! Of course Cain knew well the role of First Mate, but the Captain said after he'd go greet the other new person he'd come back and inform him of it. All Cain really wanted to know was his way around the ship, his sleeping quarter, the kitchen and the way to the cargo hold.
He looked over at Skye and grinned. "Looks like I'll be staying on The Seraphim." His eyes looked around the deck. This would be his jurisdiction now. He'd be supervising the crew and making sure they did as they were supposed to. And, of course, he'd be doing the Cargo operations. He'd probably be making the orders from now on.
Later on he'd go and ask either the Captain or patroness where their destination was. He'd not been informed of that yet.

May hurried to keep up with Tanyeera. After a few seconds she had stepped in stride only a few feet behind her. "I've never actually been on a ship, I'm worried about getting sea sick. I don't think I will though, my mother was found of ships, her father was a sailor. She practically grew up on a ship." May smiled. "Did you get sea sick?"
May noticed the odd way Tanyeera walked but thought nothing of it, everyone walked differently so what did it matter.

There is no threat as the smaller being places her tiny hands on the female griffin's large beak. This instead produces a pleased feeling within Luft, who enjoyed the little one's melodious twittering. She in turn lowers her eyelids in a calm demeanor and her feathers ruffle up slightly as a sign of her friendly mood. From the winged creature's throat resonates warbles. Gryphons are still related to birds on a certain degree, both small and birds of prey. Along with the delightful pressure of something on her beak, for gryphons enjoy contact on their rough bills, a soothing feeling of being near such a seemingly harmless other makes Luft shrugs her wings in comfort. Keeping her beak steady to support the newly found friend, the Gryphon Sentry sits on her feathered haunches and slowly raises a front leg. She gently strokes the tips of its talons over the little one's fur in a gesture of friendship. Hopefully there'd be a time to introduce this curious creature to her Winged Sister, Tanyeera. Her feathered ear tufts are perked, however, as she hears that now they have an elf amongst the ranks. Luft had never interacted with elves and wasn't sure if she'd enjoy taking orders from one all of a sudden.
The hertasi cocks his head in an innate posture of interest. If all kufkas were as outgoing as Fyn, then perhaps he'd have to make a trip to go and find one that would talk him. Gesten regains his usual, slightly hunched stance once the woman mentions the gray griffin. With her name given, he bows again to her. "It will be good to have someone who can get along with those such as Fyn. I am Gesten Eidechse, deckhand among many and nanny to that overgrown pigeon known as Luft Himmel.", he stands from his bow and looks kindly to Ava, "Perhaps we'll be able to speak during the next meal, once the Seraphim set off, I will be needed to work." Gesten chuckles softly, which is close to a stuttering hiss, when he notices Luft acting warmly to Fyn. The new of their First Mate is also made known to the hertasi and he makes a note to remember all those above him, so as to be more of service for the ship.

Ava nodded in fairwell to the hertasi and checked on Fyn to make sure the little creature was not going to get herself eaten. On the contrary, the kufka seemed to be enjoying herself greatly and even more obviously she appeared to be enjoying the attention of the gryphon, Luft. Unwilling to make Fyn angry with her she let the kufka stay where she was and found a spot in her pack for the sharpenning stone before she sheathed her blade. The Captain seemed to have appeared at last and Ava did not wish to seem aggressively rude and greet him with bared steel.
As she approached the Captain she was mildly amused and suprised at the young mooncalf of an elf being proclaimed as First Mate. Wondering who had written the note she pushed the thought into her subconscious and presented herself to the Captain before he had a chance to jump her for being on his ship without good reason. People drilling questions at her made her uneasy enough that she would rather skewer them and deal with the consequences rather than listen to their harping. Thankfully that had only happened once. Or twice. Either way Ava Elani disliked having to excesively explain herself.
Cutting a clear picture of her athletic flexibility in her outfit of alternating lightweight silver plate armor, dark clothing, and grey cloak designed so that it revealed to any well trained eye her position as a mercenary she withdrew a sheet of paper, once again signed by the father of the Patroness. "Captain Zeiser, I am Ava Elani. I am here to perform my duties to the Patroness and my Patron, the Ladies father, as well as provide a measure of protection or my exceptional services in areas of unique situations." The sheet explained some of her expertise so she did not describe them. "You may also consider me a hunter of hidden treasures." Giving the Captain a mirror image of the bow and nod she had given to the Patroness earlier she also told him, "The kufka Fyn is under the protection of myself and the Lord Patron. She will not be a subject of debate." She had met the like who thought of any animal that was small with fur as a rat and she did not appreciate the comparison. "I am honored to be aboard the Seraphim Captain."

The Captain gave a nodding bow of his head in return then accepted the sheet, and read from it while she spoke. It was all rather self-explanatory, but Zeiser found it best to read it all. Handing it back, he nodded. "That's all understood, Miss Elani. Please inform me if you have any preference to a certain title or name." He took a brief moment to examine what he assumed to be Fyn for a moment, then remet Ava's attentive gaze. "Very well. All I ask is that you make sure he keeps away from the foodstuffs at all times, breakfast and dinner aside. Other than that, I have nothing to say. Please, carry on."
Zeiser found Elani to be very curt and businesslike in her manner. It was an attribute he very much enjoyed to see in other people. Well, it was either that or she was rushing this all so he didn't ask questions. Still, the manner in which she conversed made matters such as running a vessel much smoother. If all of his crew would communicate in this fashion a lot of time and resources could be spared.

May noticed the odd way Tanyeera walked but thought nothing of it, everyone walked differently so what did it matter. Tanyeera was a touch surprised that May did not comment on her odd way of walking but figured she was being polite and her estimation of the girl rose a few points. Dragons were much accustomed to courtesy among themselves, and so appreciated human efforts also to be courteous. "I do not know if a resistance to seasickness is hereditary. However, you seem to be managing well so far so I believe you should be alright. No, I did not get sea sick. Perhaps it is because once one is accustomed to riding winds, waves are a breeze." Tanyeera smiled slightly at her own joke, feeble though it was.

(Wow! This is really moving along; I’m very pleased. ^_^)
Securely in his hammock and cradling his pack, Amir had an almost perfect vantage point to observe the crew returning to the ship. He was torn between disappointment and relief that so many had decided to stay in Rekitose; his two ideologies would not sit well together on this voyage. One the one hand, there was the ever-present fear of some malicious intent for this unknown land; on the other, an entirely new world to explore and delve into. Oh, yes, Amir thought wryly, and heaps and heaps of treasure worth this ships weight in diamonds just waiting to be discovered. Several newcomers boarded the ship, and he nodded respectfully to the griffin and dragon as they returned, glad they were still here.
Amir had just thought himself through appraising the new meshed crew when a glorious vision of a woman caught his eye. Shouldering his pack, he nearly fell from the hammock in his hurry to sit up and landed with a salvaged grace on the deck. He waited until she was finished speaking to the captain (he nodded respectfully), and then waltzed to the hooded woman and bowed low, hoping the hair that had fallen from its place behind his ear didn’t make him took too disheveled. “I extend my welcome to you, fair lady.” He ventured a look into her brown eyes, then stood straight and held out his hand as if to take hers. “Amir-aydim Madhav Hakim at your service, should you ever need anything.”
(This is aimed at Ava, btw, to avoid confusion. ^_^)

Ava turned away from the Captain only to find herself face to face with a bronze skinned man with a wide grin offering her courtesies and a welcoming hand. Slightly suprised at the mans ability to escape her immediate awarness she cast her speculative eye over him, building a quick profile of strength and weaknesses almost subconsciously. She decided that his lean build, sporting admireable whipcord muscles, was well balanced, though she did not belive that he would hold up long against her own quick long reaching swordwork. His movement was fluid supporting her belief that he was quick and comfortable in his body. Even if his hair was a little long, held back by a gold clasp no less, he was hardly hard to look at and she liked a man with scruff on his face.
Placing her hand in his in a firm grip she shook it lightly once, keeping her eyes on his, and with a partially straight face she greeted this stranger. "Ava Elani." From half a deck away Fyn realized that Ava was getting new attention and with a final squeek for her new griffin friend she was of like a shot, bounding across the deck and clambering up the mercenaries leg coming to a halt when she reached her usual perch on Ava's shoulder. Pulling her hand away Ava gestured to the Kufka. "This is Fyn." the little kufka was as interested as her perch. Ava took a moment and considered the words of Hakim and in a swift movement she had her sword in her hands and angled at the level of his throat, though a small smile stretched her lips and her body remained uterly relaxed. "I require a close combat sparring partner," she said. She glanced at the sword and gave the man a slightly mocking look. She liked that hte man was forward, but she liked that he was a potential source of sport even more. "Are you up for it?" she hoped he would rise to the challange
