Nah, you want the 8 ball, too. Just make sure the 4 goes in first.

:::She looked for the one marked 8. It was the black one. Well, those were Luke instructions, so she went head. She angled so that the could hit the four in first and that the striped ball next to the 8 would smack into it and send it towards another hole:::
:::She drew back, and hit!:::
clack clack clack thud clack thud clack...
That was easy. :::She smiled::

*Luke loops his arm around her shoulders and squeezes.* Beautiful. Beautiful, Slim.
*He turns to Mike and Dave.* See, she has trouble getting the last two in. She has some rough edges, but she's getting there.
I almost forgot. What did you guys want to bet for? Twenty bucks?
*Mike opens his mouth to say something, but there is no comeback. He reaches into his wallet and pulls out a 10 dollar bill. Dave takes one out of his pocket.*
*Luke collects it. He rolls it up and slaps it against his hand.* Thanks, guys. Better luck next time. *They start to walk away.* If you want a rematch, we'll be right over here.

::Cora smiles broadly when she sees how happy this has made Luke. She was victorious, and they had made money. It didn't matter that the other two seemed so unnerved about it, Luke was beaming, so she was too.
She followed his lead:::
THat was... :::she searched for the word::: fun, right?

*Luke chuckles.* THAT was hustling. And when you win, it's definitely fun.
*He leans in grinning.* That was genius, Slim. If I do say so myself.
*And he did.*

Oh, ******** yeah. *Luke looks around, perusing the merchandise.* There's gotta be another couple poor suckers around here we can scam.
*Not a moment later, an older man - the same one who'd been in a bet with a woman before - taps Luke on the shoulder.*
*Luke turned around.*
The older man said, "I was watching you and your friend take those guys. What she did just don't happen everyday."
*Luke felt a pull in his stomach. Like he was caught, like this old timer somehow knew something was up...*
Then, the older man held up another twenty dollars. "Twenty says she can't do it again."
*Luke grinned and laughed, part-joy part-relief. He pointed to the nearest pool table.* "You're on."

:::Cora didn't smile until Luke did, and then she followed him, right there under his arm. For the first time, she was beginning to feel part of it, instead of a strange onlooker. I daresay, she was just starting to really have fun:::

*Luke watched as Cora proved that she COULD do it again, and then once more, when the old timer wanted to make sure - double or nothing. Luke sent him off with a wave, but before Luke realized, Cora's stunt had gathered a small crowd.*
*There were calls for a bet that she couldn't beat Lou's friend, Jim, who'd been playing at this place since it started from the ground up. Luke quickly took to the background, managing the money, egging on the onlookers, and trash-talking every chance he got.*
*Luke called to a group of three guys.* "Okay, which one of you guys is losing their money today?" *He didn't let them answer.* "Let me see the dough, so I know you have it."
*Cora kept up her winning streak. She had a scare once or twice, but the truth was - no one could hold a candle to her skills.*
*At one point, Luke stepped up onto one of the tables, and as Dave had suggested called out.*
"Ladies and Gentlemen! They have called her a master! They have called her a genius! But you decide for yourselves! Who will take on -- Cora the Canadian Pool Prodigy!?"

:::By now, Cora realized that the point of the game was not to get all the balls into the holes at once...but one at a time, more if you're lucky. That's all the other players seemed to be doing. She didn't feel so bad anymore about not getting ALL of the balls in ALL of the time. She wondered though if all this commotion was good for their circumstance. Was it wise to draw attention to herself in a world she's not native to? The thought floated somewhere in her head, but deep down, she was really having fun::::

*The betting went on and the money kept coming. As Luke counted the winnings, one of her former opponents walked up to Cora.*
"Damn, man. That s**t's off the hook. Where'd you learn how to do that s**t?"

*The guy continued.* Piiiish, girl got skills! Where you learn 'em? Damn, if I could play pool like that, I wouldn't need to work at the Dairy Queen. Kick back, just let the money come rollin' in. *points to the pool table* A coupla days more of that, and you could buy the Eagles. *He laughed at his own joke.* s**t, you could buy the whole ******** stadium!

:::Cora eyed him nervously as he began to laugh loudly...whatever he said was obviously supposed to be funny, so she chuckled along nervously, hoping she wasn't about to insult him or something:::
Eheeeh heh ehe heh ehehe....
:::Otherwise though, she didn't know how to respond, she kept looking at Luke, pleadingly:::

*Luke, a few feet away, was laughing with someone, counting the crisp and not-so-crisp dollar bills, Cora's raked in with her freakish "skills".*
*Meanwhile, the guy kept going. He neared Cora, so he was standing right beside her.* So if you could just direct me to where I could take some classes... get some lessons... aw man, I'd really appreciate it. In fact, do you give lessons yourself?
