Cloud, Aeris, and Red XIII.
After disc 1, it was Cloud, Cid, and Red XIII.
Or Cloud, Red XIII, and someone else.
I always try to knock Red XIII out of the party every time I play but I can't manage to do it. Same with Aeris when she was available. At the end of disc one, everyone else was grossly under leveled. XD

well for ff7 i have to say cloud vince and cid for ff8 i loved it when i used squall zell and kiros and last for 9 i used zidane vivi amarant garnet and whatever the snowman thing is called

The first time i played VII i used Cloud, Aerith/Areis and Nanaki/Red XIII but then she died, which was unexpected and... sad, but i think i replaced her with Vincent biggrin

Cloud, Yuffie, and Vincent.
Cloud because...well...you have to. =P
Yuffie cuz she's my favorite, she's a long ranger, and she does full damage when Morphing (at least with the Conformer, anyway).
Vincent cuz he's a long ranger and balanced enough to play any role in the party.

Vincent. V Ex-~ sabaal Vincent. V Ex-~ ... Main Party: Cloud Vincent Yuffie ... Same here. Everyone else seems kinda boring to me. 'Cept Red. If I could drop cloud and use Red, I would. "If only we could drop Cloud, full stop. He may be the mian character, but it irks me that your glued to him for almost all of the game." Wow. Same. Love Cloud and all. But I've always wanted to be Red, Vincent, and Yuffie.

I would definitely say...
Cloud with Long Range
Cid with another long range
Barret
I use these guys for two reasons:
1. I am a lot more proficient with physical attacks than I am with magical.
2. They all have multiple-blow limit breaks (Cloud, Omnislash. Barret, Ungarmax. Cid, Highwind).
Also, it's cool if you have a strong magical party:
Cloud
Yuffie
Nanaki (Red XIII)
I equip them all with 2 KotR each, and partner each KotR with an MP Absorb and an HP Absorb. Then I have them equipped with mime alongside counter and a W-summon. Phoenix and Final Attack together works well on ANY team.
