"I'm positively absolutely sure its ok! Momakage loves my paintinsgs!" Izuki said grinning at his cousin. "Come on! It'll be fun!" The boy said, running off. "Bye Myobi! Sumire!" the boy called out as he disappeared inthe green bamboo.
[Hey, Shizuka...since it looks like you didn't see my post about teasing Sumire, did you see Koro's change in the training? The rain let up, so the water's not as rocky...you should go back and check it, so you don't mess up your training!]

Both girls waved goodbye to the two boys. They hadn't been properly introduced to Izuki's cousin; but like any proper Itou, they already knew who he was. As soon as they were out of sight, Sumire stepped up to bank. "I will conquer it this time!" she declared quite cheerfully. With a beautiful dive, she was in and swimming. Or at least trying to. Even with the rain stopped the current was still tricky. She wasn't going very far at all.
[I knew about the DC change but I didn't see the other. T-T I'm sorry! I was skimming and must not have seen that part!]

[You gotta be kidding me. stare I'm going to finish this damn training today if it kills me!]
Sumire was damned and determined to make it across. But in her hurry, she swallowed some of the water. It started her to choking, which of course only led to further disaster. Luckily, Myobi caught her again without trouble. Sumire smiled ruefully. "This is way harder than I thought it would be!" Sumire studied the river thoughtfully. "But I've got to do it."

Sumire got back in the water and struggled to make her way across. But she had been swimming for a long time now. And they'd already been practicing for most of the day. She was tired. And the current was strong. So she just bobbed in the water without making too much progress.

Sumire fought against the power of the water. Now she knew why the Itous took such pride in their Water affinity. Water was a strong element. It was adaptable to any situation. It could be malleable or forceful depending on the circumstances. She sighed. Right now she was kinda hoping it would decide to be a little tamer to her wishes...

[What is it with these ******** SEVENS?! scream ]
Sumire felt the last of her strength give out. Just as her head was about to slip under the water, she felt a pair of hands grab her arms. Myobi pulled her exhausted cousin to the shore and both lay there panting for a moment. Sumire couldn't even summon the energy to speak. She felt like laying there forever with her eyes closed and never moving again. Myobi spoke first, "You need to rest for a minute. Give yourself a break before you really do drown." At her older cousin's tired grunt, Myobi relaxed. At least she wouldn't do anything exceedingly foolish. Like try to swim again right now. [d20 + -1 Swim = 6] Hp: 0 0/3

Sumire sighed. "Myobi...why am I no good at this? I'm no good at anything. I'm not good at chakra control. I'm not good at shuriken throwing. I'm not good at swimming. I'm just...not good at being a shinobi." Her eyes were uncharacteristicaly filled with tears. "Even Aya and that crazy little Izuki are better than me." A tear slowly trickled down her cheek. "I...I don't know if I want to do this." The tears were flowing freely now. Sumire rarely had moments when she was not smiling and cheerful, which only made these rare moments worse by comparison. She was truly sobbing now, "I-I can't even...s-swim!"
Myobi moved over her cousin and put her arms around her, hugging her tightly. "Why are you in the Academy?" Sumire's questioning look, she continued. "You're here to learn, are you not? Of course you're not very good at any of these things. If you were, you'd already be a genin. And stop comparing yourself to others. It's not wise or healthy. Aya and Izuki have had the benefit of the Kusakage's training practically since they're birth." Resting: Hp: 2 0/3

Sumire sniffed. "Well..." She tried to think of a suitable reply and could come up with nothing. She looked at Myobi again and giggled through her tears. "I'm being pretty silly, huh?" She sighed. "I just want to succeed so bad...and it seems like nothing I do is right." Myobi glanced at her. "You're not silly. You're human. I was worried that you'd been replaced by some kind of android that never quits smiling. It was creepy," she chuckled. "And you've finished all your training. It just took you some time. There's never been any penalites yet for taking your time at your training." Resting: Hp: 4 0/3

Sumire nodded. "You're right!" She leapt to her feet, tears a thing of the past. "But I've waited long enough. Now it's time to get back in there and swim!" She walked into the water, her face set with determination. She started swimming for the other side almost immediately. Unfortunately, she didn't make any progress. Still, she was determined not to get down. If it took her all night, she was going to swim across this darn river.

She kept going, swimming with everything she had. She dog paddled. She went underwater. She even tried to breaststroke. And finally! She made some progress! She slowly moved forward. Breath coming in at a gasp, Sumire grinned privately. She was doing it. Now there was only the rest to go.

She kept going even as her arms were starting to get tired. She wasn't going to quit. And her determination showed through the progress she was making. Over halfway already, Sumire only had a little more left to go. She vaguely heard Myobi calling encouragement from the behind her. But her mind was focused on what lay right in front of her.

Sumire gained her second wind and powered her way to the opposite shore. When she reached the shore at last, she lay there gasping and laughing and crying all at once. Myobi soon made her way beside her cousin and gave her a big hug. Smiling, the older girl basked for a moment in her accomplishment. "I did it..." she breathed. "I really did it. You were right!" She threw her arms around Myobi's neck and squeezed.
Myobi chuckled and pried Sumire's arms off. "Hey, hey. I helped. Don't kill me." She glanced at the sky and then back at her cousin. "We should probably head on home to get cleaned up. Mom and Aunt Taka tend to get each other worked up." After seeing Sumire's agreement, they both headed back towards the village.

Tomo led her class through the village and safely to the close edge of the river that ran through the forest. This was an unofficial training ground that Koro had been using. Tomo liked his idea of keeping the students outside instead of cramped in the Academy. Lying around on the ground were bundles of bamboo, tied neatly together to give a log like look. Tomo had made them last night to prepare for training today. "First things, first! Everyone grab a partner," Tomo said as she kicked a bamboo wad up into her hand. "If you can't find one, come up to me and we'll get ya acquanted with one," she told her students knowing that most of them were new and shy.
[Sora can still help out with the training, so you don't feel left out! I'll award you with some kind of points since you're not recieving anything from helping someone else learn a jutsu.]
