Angus Young of AC DC AshWufei Angus Young of AC DC AshWufei My dad refuses to pay for any more guitars, but he's only bought the Tele ($150) and my amp ($70) sad Only stuff he pays for is stuff like strings every month or so, and for my birthday he's getting me the Fender Mini-Twin. Well the Les paul I had to get myself, After the SG they wre like. "My god your to expensive, If you want more stuff you'll have to get it yourself". So now I"m stuck getting al my equipment myself, But let me tell ya, The Gibson Is worth it, IT plays B.E.A.UTIFUL. Just ask my man Asuka sakai94. So now I"m saving up for a way better amplifire. I"m thinkin' of getting a job and saving for a nice Marshall Half Stack, But here there $2200 at a deal price at guitar center. and it's gonna be a 300 watt cab with a 150 watt Head. I just wish money was easy to come by...lol. You realize thats way to much amplification for even a good sized gig, right? mabey your right but I"de be able to get a cleaner sound out of it at high volumes, Mabey I should consider the 50watt head and the 150 watt cab...What you think??? What type of playing are you planning on? At any rate go ahead with the lower wattage of the two. You can always buy or build a powersoak to get the great natural crunch at bedroom-medium gig volumes. Just hook up the power soak, crank up the volume to max or whatever, and set your volume using the power soak.

The type I pretty much play is like AC/DC, Scorpions, Jimi Hendrix, Pretty much that type
May I ask what is a power soak, Not really sure.

A power soak is a device that you hook up between the head of your amp and the cab, that takes the signal from the amp and allows you to turn down the volume, but not change the tone at all. So basically you could crank a 100w Marshall head up to max, run it into a power soak, and still play at bedroom-and small-gig-levels. If you go with the half stack, DEFINATELY invest in a power soak if you don't plan on playing larger gigs.

Does the power soak have any risks or threats to the health of the amp/head/power/anything?

Luciferian Soul Does the power soak have any risks or threats to the health of the amp/head/power/anything? Of course not. Power soaks are standard pieces of equipment for most people. As long as you build it right, there should be no damage to your head or cabinet.
