I'm drum sergeant in my drumline, junior at the highschool, starting my sixth year as a percussionist. For the years that I've been in marching band, I've played the tenors (quads, quints, etc). I learned to play four mallets, read music, all that jazz, with all different styles, and also tried WGI with an independent group, although we pretty much sucked. I also attempt to play piano, guitar, and flute, buts its all independent learning so I'm not all that great at those.

im in aux percussion in matching band but have only been for one year. i also play sax but sax sucks now.... aux kicks so much more a**

Just visiting!
I'm in percussion in our high school band. Rotations galore in music. Marching band during the summer and we win (hopefully) just about each meet we go to. Just shouting out to all percussionists: WE ROCK!!!!! YEAH!!!!!

Kool! More drummers! Yay! I'm on drumline at my highschool. I'm also in concert, advanced symphonic band, and advanced percussion. I guess I really am a band nerd, huh? But yes, I do believe that there should be more rudimental drummers in the world. Well, you should atleast know the basics of rudimental drumming. Sorry, I guess it really irritates me when drummers don't know the basics. Especially if they can't even read the music infront of them! Grrrrrrr! scream

You said theres not many rudimental drummers out there, well ya'll have found one. I'm not best rudimentally, but not the worst. But, I haven't stopped practicing, and getting better.

okay, so I'm not in this guild, and yes I'm a drummer,but I'm thinking about joining....I'm going to be starting my freshman year, and i know some rudimental drumming, but lucky me, i'm one of the only who knows how to do mallet (bells, xy, etc.) so i'm stuck on the side lines....

The band I'm in used to be a marching band - it kinda fell apart, though, because at the time most ppl were 11, and the percussion section couldn't carry the instuments.... (we didn't have fittings for 6th graders, only grade 12s...). Now we're mostly a concert band, but it's still great.
Speaking of which, since this is mostly marching bands so it isn't likely that many ppl play them, but are there any other ppl out there who play tympani?

tlk.freak okay, so I'm not in this guild, and yes I'm a drummer,but I'm thinking about joining....I'm going to be starting my freshman year, and i know some rudimental drumming, but lucky me, i'm one of the only who knows how to do mallet (bells, xy, etc.) so i'm stuck on the side lines.... Ouch about mallets. That always sux to be the ONLY mallet. I was the only mallet last year because the other two percussionists couldn't read music gonk .

This will be my second year of marching band. Our band was tiny so most people are sophmores like me... so I'm pit captain. I also play sax and drums and flute. but keyboards are awesome!! well not like piano keyboards, i'm not so great at that... oh well. go percussion/drumline/people in general!

I'm a junior in marching band, and I'm the assistant Drum Captain. So many people quit this year in marching band that the drumline just might outnumber the band.(That worries me. eek )

Hmm. I sort of shouldn't be here.
I'm rather new at the whole percussion ordeal.
This summer, I took an extensive four hour per day, five days a week summer music camp for a month to learn sctuff.
And voila, I chose percussion and a couple others.
Erm, I shall indeed be joining my school's pit and etc. this coming fall. I doubt I shall be any good. Alas, what I lack in snare skills, I shall graciously make up in mallets! heart
