Sakura ran around franticly, the festivals decorations were still being put up and being ordered. "Oh Wigglytuff! I hope we can pull this off!" Sakura said in an exhausted tone. Grovyle and her Poliwhirl were running around moving things and placing them in the places they belonged. Swellow flew around hanging banners as carefully as he could.

"Bella!" the Grass Pokemon shouted pointing towards an old man carrying several eggs. They all looked the same thanks to the paint he had carefully put on them. "Oh! They're finally here!" Sakura shouted in glee as she walked up to the old man.

The train pulled into the Petalburg station and Kevin exited with a yawn. He tossed Monsoon's PokeBall on the ground, releasing his companion. Monsoon emerged with a yawn and waved happily at Kevin. "Well, lets find a boat to Dewford, shall we?" Kevin said to Monsoon as the walked down the road.

Monsoon, being a water Pokemon, could smell salt water from a mile away. He sniffed the air and grabbed Kevin's pant leg, pulling and pointing in the direction of the ocean.

"You find it buddy?" Kevin asked, already sure of the answer. Monsoon nodded and the two headed for the beach.

Kasiya gave an odd look to both Mike and Keegan, but shrugged as she slid down from the massive Pokemon's back, landing as if she'd been doing it for years. "If you insist you're all right," Kasiya giggled. "Oh, and you still have dirt on your face," she added, still giggling. She started to climb the stairs, Growly suddenly becoming quite excited and he barged past her, practically knocking her off the stairs. "You great oaf!" she grumbled, pulling herself up and opening the door.

"You're sure you're okay?" Keegan asked Mike, the sight of them falling forever etched within his brain. He quickly followed Kasiya, attempting to catch her as the Arcanine nearly pushed her over, but pulled back as she regained herself. Hoping no one saw the slight pink in his cheeks except for Vulpix, who seemed to be laughing at his trainer, he entered the house.

The train came to a screeching halt and Mitsu exited through the train's automatic doors. She expected it to be a clam, soothing, small town but to her surprise it was bustling with Pokemon and people setting up for the festival. She was taken back a little at all the comotion, but let it slide a few seconds later. She decided to go for a stroll before visiting the base.

"No, I'm alright." Mike said wiping the remainder of the dirt from his clothes and hair. A small piece of paper fell out of his hat while he was shaking it off. It was the note Winona gave him. "Agh!" Mike gasped as he dove for it, only serving to dirty himself up more. Curiosity overwhelmed him as he went to unwrap the note; it was sealed with a kiss. Mike rolled his eyes, carefully undoing the folds, a small feather floated to the ground. Mike picked it up and placed it in his pocket. I'm keeping this. He held the note close to his eyes, the familiar loopy handwriting making his heart beat.

Mike,

I'm really glad you were eble to come down to Fortree and see me today, I had alot of fun! Your new Charmander is so cute, its little flaming tail reminds me of the candles they sell at the PokeMart. My mom said that soon he's going to start teaching me to become the Gym Leader when I'm older, and that she's going to help me catch a bunch of flying Pokemon! I can't wait! I'm a little scared of all the responsibility, but if you were here I know you'd tell me to be strong. I'm happy we're friends, and drop by for a visit sometimes!

Friends Forever!

Winona

The note ended there, or so he thought. A small arrow pointed to the opposite side where more was written. It was in a different pen and in much more legible.

I wrote that 5 years ago when I was still training to be a Leader. Looking back I still mean every word of it. Show them what you're made of Mike, I'm rooting for you.

Be sure to visit.

Winona

Mike smiled that nostalgic smile, remembering way back when. "Boy do I wish for those days again." He said to himself as he rose to his feet and oh so carefully placed the note in his backpack.

"Hello, hello, I'm the Name Rater," came a cheery voice. Kasiya stepped forward, somewhat familiar to this place. "You kids keep coming earlier and earlier," he seemignly grumbled. The name rater was a kind man who had a talent for Pokemon names. "Aha, you want to give this Arcanine a nickname, eh?"

"Yes I would, thank you," Kasiya said politely. "His current name is Growly, which suited him when he was a Growlithe," she explained. "But now..."

"You need something more respectable, am I right?"

Kasiya nodded. "That's right."

"Do you have anything picked out?"

"I do," she replied.

"I can't wait to hear it," he said, looking at Shocker. "You certainly look familiar, Shocker," he chuckled. "I see you're all grown up."

"I can't believe you rememberd," Kasiya said, awestruck.

"That's why I'm the name rater. I am a master of names."

Mike sat down by the Pokemon Center, reminiscing about his early days. "She was something else." He said to himself with a smile, peering over at his feuding Pokemon. Portabello was still beating Nitro senseless until he flew up. He stuck out his tongue but remembered too late that he was an astonishing jumper. Portabello cleared a building and landed on Nitro's back, steering him with his crests.

Kevin and Monsoon arrived at the beach in a matter of minutes. Petalburg City was a rather small town and reminded Kevin of Violet City back in Johto. Kevin scanned the beach and saw a house in the distance. It was right by the shore and had a boat docked nearby. "That must be the place" Kevin said. He approached the door and knocked.

No answer.

Kevin knocked again, this time a little louder. At first there was no answer again, but then Kevin heard a voice through the door.

"Yar, I'mma commin, hold yer Horseas..." The door swung open and there stood an old man with a Wingull perched on his shoulder. "Yeah, what do ya want? Iff'n you be tryin ta sell me a magazine subscription, I dont want any!"

Kevin stood before the man dumbfounded. "Uh... I was just wondering if that was you're boat over there and if so, I was hoping to get a ride to Dewford" Kevin said nerviously then quickly added "That is if you arent busy of course"

The old man stroked his beard. "Tha name's Briney, Mr. Briney. And I'll have you know..." Mr. Briney's voice began getting louder, intimdating Kevin greatly. "I regularly ferry trainers to Dewford for free!" the old man said with a laugh, much to Kevin's relief. "Now, judging by that Squirtle o' yours, I'd say you're a trainer. As such I'd be happy to give ya a lift"

"Thank you very much Mr. Briney" Kevin said happily as they boarded the small boat and took off for Dewford.

Keegan entered the name rater's house after Kasiya, looking around as he did so. The decorations were sparse, it seemed as though he were a simple man with simple pleasures. They boy waited patiently, his small Vulpix waiting just as patient for their turn. "I hope these names are good ones," he said to himself, stroking the fox's soft hair.

"So, tell me Growly's new name," The name rater said calmly, leaning on the desk.

"Well, I've thought about it a lot," Kasiya said truthfully. "Growly's saved me on a number of occaisions. He's my hero, you see. And that's what I've decided to call him. Hiro."

"That's a good strong name," the rater said, obviously pleased. "I like it a lot. So from this day forward, Growly's new name is Hiro!"

Kasiya turned to her Arcanine and hugged him. "I hope you like your new name, Hiro," she said.

"Arc!" he cried, obviously pleased with it himself.

"Do you like it, Keegan?" Kasiya asked her ever-so-quiet friend.

"That looked easy enough..." Keegan said to himself. "What? Oh, yeah, great name," he said, feeling sheepish for not answering right away. "I guess it's my turn," he said, stepping up to the Name Rater.

"Hello there," he said.

"Er, uh, Hi?" Keegan ansewred, although it was almost a question in return.

"Got some names to bestow? Or change?" he chuckled, nodding to Hiro.

"Uh, yeah, bestow," Keegan said. He shook himself a bit. Stop being such an idiot! He screamed at himself internally. "I have three Pokemon and three names all picked out," he said, finally showing a backbone. "For my handsome Vulpix here, I've decided on Helios. The bringer, protector, and guardian of light. He set Vulpix on the table, withdrawing his two other Pokeballs from his pocket. He released Electrike, who finally looked awake. "Electrike here has a strong sense of justice," he began, "so I've decided to call him Themis." He backed up a foot or two, and released Ekans, who swayed from side to side, his coils piled on top of themselves. "And last but not least, my Ekans is a bit of a naughty boy. He likes to goof off and play pranks, so I've decided to call him Loki, after the prankster himself."

"Those are some pretty well thought-out names," The rater said, scratching his chin. "Okay! From now on, Vulpix's name is Helios! Electrike's name is Themis! And Ekans' name is Loki!" the rater called out, seemingly making it official. Keegan recalled his trio into their balls, a broad grin across his face.

"So, what do you think?" he asked Kasiya, walking up to her and juggling his three Pokeballs without much effort.

"Heh," Kasiya said, as Keegan stepped forward to bestow names on his team. "I had no idea." She suddenly had the urge to apologize for being mean earlier, but figured he'd somehow let it slide. After he'd given the names to his Pokemon, he came over to her, all smiles.

"Those are great names," she said, watching him juggle the Pokeballs. "Now how are you gonna know who is who?" she asked, looking around. "And where did Mike get to?"
PostPosted: Thu Jun 15, 2006 5:50 pm

"Uh oh." Keegan muttered quietly, catching the three Pokeballs and looking at them. "I guess I didn't think about that." He laughed sheepishly, then went outside.

"This is how I'll tell," he yelled, and flung them. Helios, Themis and Loki all appeared, looking somewhat happy. "I hope you guys like your names," he said with a grin as they all converged on him to give him their thanks.

"Come on, Gro - I mean, Hiro," Kasiya said, patting his nose. "Let's go outside and see where Mike got to!"

"Rai!" cried Shocker.

"Arc!" agreed Hiro. The trio waved good bye to the Name Rater, and headed outside. Keegan's Pokemon were aparently thanking him for their names, and she laughed, looking around.

Spying a Charizard being 'steered' by a Breloom, Kasiya shook her head and sighed. "Some things never change," she said, noting Mike sitting by the Pokemon Center, looking all daydreamy. "Go get him, Shocker," Kasiya nudged the Raichu, who gave her a devilish grin, jumped down and dashed down the street, jumping right up and into Mike's unsuspecting lap.
