Keme watched the woman go to her things, temerarily tuning Hoerwick out. She reminded Keme of Alice, in an odd way. Keme thought of Alice for a brief moment before turning away. "Everyone's okay right?" Keme asked looking at a dead creature nudging it with her boot. She was covered in soot and ash and her shirt was, strange the sleeve's edges had been eated away by something. Keme looked down at her boot, there was a bright highlighter color green on the very tip. She reached down and touched it. Straightening up again, all she felt was a "warm" feeling on her fingure tips. Keme examined it with her scaners, it was apparently trying to eat away her flesh.

"Stay away from the monsters, there 'blood' can eat away flesh. Might be digestive or protection measures designed into their DNA," She alerted the others, letting her scaners finish their scan before wipping the substance onto the dead creature. Looking at her hand again, she noticed it looked alittle red. "Also slows healing.... interesting..." She murmered to herself, she would return MUCH later for further scans.

Aila stood up. She couldn't quite see straight, but she was sure she'd manage to get back to the hut at least - she'd had such migraines (sp?) before and they seemed to occur more frequently these days. Barely aware of anything besides herself and the ground beneath her, she carefully made her way back towards the hut.

Jessica stood unmoving, watching the ill woman and Keme. She could have helped her, and she wanted to, but she couldn't bring herself to move for a person who was just waving a gun at her.

She looked down. A patch of her jeans was eaten through, as well as parts of her shoes. "The monster's blood didn't get anywhere else, thank goodness," she thought.

Following Keme's example and siezing a new chance to help, Jessica walked towards the woman, who had begun packing her things. "I'll take those for you," she offered politely "you're not in the shape to be carrying heavy things like that." She smiled lightly, and offered her hand.

Blinking, she reached into her pocket, the place she put the pills she had taken earlier. These were in a blue metallic container. How could she have been so careless? Was she really that tired? She opened the blue container, hoping by some chance the pills had gotten mixed up. Dumping them into her open palm, her fears were confirmed. She didn't take her super-strong alertness pills. She had taken her super-strong pain killer pills. No wonder she fell asleep so fast. She hadn't eaten all day, which would explain the vomiting. But the pills had yet to release their effect. Only a few more minutes. She sighed and put the pills back into their container, placed them back into her bag. This could be worse, she decided, they wouldn't kill her, but if something were to happen, she'd be of no help at all. These pills were designed for extensive injuries, and only to be used if one was incapable of continuing on. Therefore, its potency was strong, made exactly to serve its purpose, and nothing else-- kill the pain by any means necessary.

She came back to reality when Jessica's hand was offered to her. She looked up, blinked, and took it, being hoisted back up to standing, gaining a small head rush from the blood flow. Her apathy for the strangers seeming to disappear, she smiled clumsily at Jessica and handed her the bag. She dared not tell them what stupid mistake she had made. She scratched the back of her head. "Can we um... can we get going?" Feeling a sudden tingling throughout her entire body, she made it more clear. "Yeah, we need to go."

Aila was surprised at the speed she was managing to stumble along, though her vision was blurring more and more with the same rapidity. Her instincts, at least, had led her in the right direction, she figured after slamming into the door of the hut.
Clumsily, she opened the door, stepped in, and just barely managed to close it before stumbling over her own feet and falling face first onto the floor. She pushed herself up into a sitting position - at least she could sit - and vomited. This was worse than the normal migraine. What had that military woman said about blood?

Jessica looked at the woman with a little concern, took her bag and slung it over her shoulder before replying, "Yeah. We're all set I think." Aila had already left, but Keme was still here. She smiled back at the woman and said "I think we've got some water and food rations back in the cabin. If not, I guess I'll be going hunting tonight."

She nodded her head in the right direction and said to Keme and the woman. "C'mon. Let's go."

Keme nodded and walked along beside Hoerwick on the way back. She knew he was waiting to yell at her even more once they were safe.... well safer. Keme could already imagine the dishuffled scientist threatening to hit the "off" switch to her. That little switch wasn't really a switch but a command of a very unique order of three words. If any of the scientist on her internal list said the words she would imediatly stop functioning, each 50 like her had a different kind of shut off sequence. of words with a master command word to shut all down at once. Hoerwick threatening to hit the off switch was like a parent threatening to ground their kid

Sarah nodded, stepping foward to make her way to where the others were going. She felt the slight light-headedness she was expecting, but it didn't affect her much except for making her feel like she was lighter than air, which she had to admit was a neat feeling. Her clumsy smile returned as she stared at the ground during her walk.

Jessica was the first to make it to the cabin door. She turned the knob, and pushed it part of the way open before it bumped into Aila's foot. She made a face at the putrid smell of vomit and covered her sensitive nose. "Aila!" She said alarmed, and crouching to the floor she put her hand on Aila's shoulder. "I... I'll get you some water."
Turning back to the others, Jessica shouted "You guys, she needs help!" Digging through the cabinets, she found a large stock of water bottles, and she grabbed a couple; one for Aila and one for the military woman. Kneeling again at Aila's side, she opened a bottle for her.

"Thanks," Aila said softly, taking the water bottle and sipping from it gingerly. "I'm really sorry. I should have at least cleaned up my mess."

Sarah took the bottle of water and looked at it for a moment before opening it and taking a long drink. She shoved the bottle cap in her pocket as she took another drink, watching the two girls engage in contact. Assuming the situation was being taken care of, and really not wanting to deal with the problem, she sat down in a chair, and looked around.

"No, no. It's fine. Are you okay now?" Jesica asked Aila. She looked around for a towel, or a mop... something. Finding nothing, she flopped her arms at her side, irritated. She sighed, and looked around. The mlitary woman had already come inside and was sitting in a chair. "Heh, making yourself at home?" Jessica asked, a strained smile on her face.

Keme and Hoerwick arrived at the cabin as well both moving to go do seperate things. Keme moved over to Aila offereing to help her up and into a chair.

Hoerwick hesitated in the doorway spotting the vomit spill on the floor. Noticing Jessica couldn't find anything to clean it up with as he shut the door behind everyone. He took off his tattered, long, white labcoat and held it in his hands staring at the emborded INFINITY CORP. logo one the left side above the chest pocket. Hoerwick handed it to Jessica after a moment, "Here, we can use this to clean up the mess." He had decided that the coat no longer held the same value it once did for him.

((Maybe I should but in a profile for Hoerwick, he wasn't suppose to be a "secondary" character sweatdrop ))

Aila grabbed Keme's arm and pulled herself up, sitting down as quickly as possible. "Thank you, Keme. Thank you Mr. Hoerwick, Jessica," she said appologetically. "I'm really sorry about this."

((Ha! Perhaps you should. I'd like to read it. ^^ ))

((Oh yes, I've been bored at work lately, so prepare for another extra-long post from Aili! sweatdrop Haha, sorry for all the extra reading you're having to do...))

Looking at Jessica, Sarah looked back at her, and then went back to looking at her surroundings, trying as best as she could to look away from the sick that lay on the ground. She had already seen enough. She once again thought about the implications that would arise if she went back to the base. Were they watching her this very minute? What would they say to her?

As if reading her mind, static violated her eardrums. "Fox." Recognizing the code name that she had decided upon before leaving the base for her missions. she looked around, knowing that no one could have possibly heard the noise.

Damn. She forgot about the small reciever in her ear. "Fox, do you copy?"

Not wanting to alert the others that she had contact, she cleared her throat loudly, almost sounding like a cough. She smiled at anyone who stopped to look at her. She suddenly felt as if her hardened exterior had been numbed by the pain pills. When was the last time she had smiled at anyone?

"Good." Oh yeah, the reciever. Rick's voice was the last thing she wanted to hear at this time, but it also assembled a piece of hope within her.

"Listen, I know you can't talk back to me, so just listen up. We heard bits and pieces of what your situation is. But from what we've heard, we understand you've been taken prisoner. Cough or something if this is correct."

Normally Sarah would have complied immediately. But she hesitated. If she confirmed, there was no doubt that they would come to rescue her. But at what cost? Would they harm the others? Did she want to go back? She weighed her options. She didn't know what was to become of her with these strangers and possibly the creatures they had befriended. At the base, she knew she'd find a warm, not-so-comfortable-but-nonetheless-cushioned cot, food, drink, and rest. She assumed she had some of that, if not all, here, the water bottle in her hand proving the point. However, her career depended on her answer. Besides, wouldn't they give her some leave time for being a prisoner? And think of the status she would receive. A prisoner of war. This was a war, after all. And what was this-- she was consorting with the enemy! She was betraying her own country at this very moment. How could she sink so low?

The sound emitting from her throat confirmed her situation to Rick.

"Ten-four," came the reply almost immediately. "We will reach you as soon as possible. Meanwhile, keep them in view so that we can kill two birds with one stone." Huh? Keep them in view? No, she didn't want them hurt. In return for saving her life and their hospitality, she would find time to wander off from them, if they let her, so she could escape on her own.

She felt a sudden rush of numbness and fluidity throughout her body. Colors presented themselves brightly and clearly, and suddenly everything she saw seemed fascinating. The meds had hit their peak. She wasn't going anywhere for a few hours. Damn.

The voice in her head seemed louder, yet inaudible as Rick relayed the next set of instructions. "We'll be leaving at oh-two-hundred hours. Don't let them know we're coming, even if they try to force it out of you. We're going to catch them by surprise. Eagle out."

Oh no. This was going to be bad, very bad. A surprise in the military is never a good thing. She couldn't let them get hurt. Not after what they had done for her. Oh, look, an interesting looking beetle on the floor. It crawled its way over a deep crack, Sarah hoping the beetle wouldn't fall down the small hole the crack formed, and was elated when the insect scurried its way to a corner. She lifted her head, now what seemed like a heavy weight. She looked around. What was she supposed to do? It didn't matter, because the water in her bottle felt neat as she ran it across the back of her hand, eventually flicking the water off and watching the droplets race across the room, landing on the closest object or person they could find. She laughed as she looked about the room again, a somewhat goofy grin on her face.
