"Hm, well.. A fair way to explain it would be to say the people there are rather prestigious," Julian answered, starting the car and pulling back out of the driveway. "The food is delectable and the over-all enviroment is comfortable. I think you'll like it. It's quite different from the everyday 'fast-food' junk around here."

Julian grinned to himself as he took off down the street. He caught that nervous hint in the others laugh. He could easily deduce with the way that Rai lived, his job and the location, he would be used to the fast food. It was definitely not something he preferred in taste. It wasn't too long, especially with his driving, that they began to drive into the more wealthy territory. "Why do continue going on like you do?" he asked suddenly. "If you have such a low-termed life, why do you even try?" The question was rather sudden, but he couldn't help it. He wanted to know.

Julian understood well enough. The town was full of cowards who killed themselves everyday. Either because they hate life, they hate themselves, or maybe they just wanted the 'thrill' of death to come all the sooner, but Rai didn't want to be one of those people. "I don't think of you as spineless exactly," he replied. "You've survived thus far. Anyone who can endure and survive in this town has to be strong."

"No, I wouldn't say 'pushover'," Julian commented. "When I say not 'exactly', I speak in all generality. There are very few within this whole city who would prove to have a indestructable backbone. Everyone wants to live for as long as they possibly can, meaning they'd back down from the worst of threats. Yet, the thought of living forever scares most people."

"I killed a man," Julian said easily, almost sounding pleased with himself over it. Half a moment later he realized how.. odd that must have sounded to the other beside him. "Oh, and before you let your imagination wander too far with that idea, I did it out of defense. Being a detective, I'm not supposed to be the one who does the shooting and all the action work, but what can I say? The guy had me cornered." It was actually quite the other way around. Julian had taken a very early breakfast so he wouldn't be tempted by that fair looking neck that belonged to Rai.. just yet.

"Currently?" he questioned, though didn't wait for an answer before continuing. "Oh, nothing too interesting. We've just been noticing a death rate increase as of late. We highly doubt this to be the work of some mass murderer, but more-so.. vampires." He stifled his grin that threatened to appear. It was as if laying the answer out before Rai yet masking it with a shield. "Many think the whole 'vampire' deal is just a weird myth.. What do you think about it, Rai?"

They then pulled through a large, steel gate nestled between huge holly trees. Past those went a long road that lead to a large building at the end. It's design was that of an old mansion, possibly the reason Julian liked it so much. "Guess? You can't guess," he said. "You either believe or you don't." Among the several cars in the huge parking area, he whipped into a spot. Every car there looked new and quite expensive.

"I wouldn't put it past the little demons to be in the city," Julian commented, letting himself out of the car. "In fact, I'd watch myself while roaming the streets at night if I were you. It's especially unsafe for someone with your looks to be out in the later hours."
