Some displeasure just had to make itself known due to his assumption. "Haa, again being assumed to be disrupting your workplace~" Though there was a relative amount of ease to be found in their banter resuming its usual pattern. Negligible misunderstandings and inconsequential bickering. She'd meant what she'd said before. She enjoyed it. Though she'd never seek it out, and she'd always try to make peace with him anyway. "There is a difference, you know. Between a comfort that one hides away the rest of the world, and a crutch that one cannot do without. Yes?" Definitely wasn't appropriate to have them with him during operations, as he'd said. But otherwise? "At least, I'd hope such a thing would be a comforting sight. As a reminder. That..." She hesitated. Would he eventually tire of her optimism, assuming it to simply be niceties intended to make him feel better? With renewed determination, she finally just said it. "That you matter." For all her sentimentality, it was plainly stated. Because to her, it wasn't something meant to be sappy. Simply the truth.

For all her bravery and boldness, the language of whatever was in that penguin was more than enough to summon quite the full body flush even if no one could see most of it. Trying to make herself look as small as possible in the chair she sat upon didn't seem to help matters much. 'Girlfriend,' huh. The robot had said it too, but it had been during a tense situation and certainly said with derision. And it seemed likely that the same was true of whoever had said it just then, though she'd been given ample opportunity to react to it this time. Did it bother him? Annoy him? It was almost a relief, that he never responded to it either way. Did the words matter so much, or what others thought? But. Even so. Wasn't that what she'd wanted, to be the only one with a possibility of receiving such consideration from him? Ah, such complications. Whatever had intruded seemed nice enough, but that triggering detail was enough for her to find relief in its quick removal from the room.

After all, it left her free to do more important things. Like openly admiring how it'd ended up leaving the room to begin with. "S-so cool~" Seemed she had no shortage of reasons to like him, as peculiar as her various appreciations of him were. "Was that a spirit? Or something like it? You can do that too?" Whether it was the same or not she was entirely too excited about it, somehow even more exuberant than usual. "Though I have incorporeal cells, so of course I can. It's not nice, but~" Though when did that ever really worry her. "They can be pretty arrogant, those ghosty types. So it tends to freak them out when they come across someone that can actually touch them. Like so~" She wiggled those fingers of her entirely too ominously. Any ghost that dared to cross her seemed bound to get the tickling of their afterlife.

She nodded gratefully at his suggestion. "You're free to visit any time. Anything I can do to accommodate you, just--" He'd already said before that she was too nice to him. But but! She wasn't doing it to be nice! She was doing it because she wanted to! "Just ask, okay?" He was unlikely to really take her up on it, much like every other offer she presented for that same reason. With that out of the way, she had to admit that even with interruptions it hadn't been all bad so far. "Though, I'm really... happy, that you allowed me to visit you." Even if it was scary and strange. And in her mind, haunted. Or something. Didn't matter! She'd seek him out, no matter the amount of scary pill bottles and haunted plushes that attempted to dissuade her!

The blush he had been staving off thanks to that angelically cheeky ghost showed itself with full force. Not again. "Um.... Thank you then." What else was there to say without stabbing himself in the foot with words? Not the bunch of 'You matter to me too, Ama' or 'But you're already one of those comforts, and I'm not doing any hiding' or a - hey! Quit it! He's trying to cool off those tomato-red cheeks of his and someone was definitely enjoying the show to the fullest.

"Um. Good question, actually. I think he's a ghost. If ghosts were in charge of keeping the living's lives safe. Except that he's doing a bad job of it." An eye for an eye, so a bunch of failed traps for a rush of emergency procedures. "The person he's taking care of seems to run into more trouble than he can handle, anyway." His head dropped onto the table, tangly hair drooping slightly. So tiring, having to actually buckle down to work for once that did not involve the consequences of his own actions. Ah, better not look so depressed in front of her! Sit up, sit up!

Oh yeah, that. He fished the silver cross out of his coat pocket to show her. "It's just this, actually." Something else saved from the times of regular exorcism and faith healings. "A bit of magic and a quick punch to the face usually shuts those kind up." Not a stranger to cocky prankster spirits, then. And perhaps a bit of a warning to a certain someone if he did not quit trying to fill his mind with shipping scenarios? "He's used to it, I guess. His charge did come in to ask for one too."

"You're too nice, Ama," he sighed. Dang that memory, he'd already said that, but he could not help making a visual check at the door. That privilege of allowing people in, technically it was not his. He would have to explain that too, later. Such a procrastinator.

Too tempting. That emotionless but charmingly blushy face made it increasingly difficult for Amarante to behave. But with a cheerful smile and bit of a nod she persevered, intent on showing him that there was more to her than just the usual devilry. "Don't forget." As if she'd hesitate to remind him.

"Eeh~" Sounded unusual. But somehow, not unreasonable? "Maybe 'guardian spirit' works better, in that case? Or is that too dignified to describe such a being... haha~" Regardless, it was all still pretty amusing to the likes of her. "And isn't that how it tends to work? Those who need looking after most are those just beyond even the capabilities of those of any spiritual inclination." She shrugged indifferently. Seemed she was more than familiar to that concept. But enough of that. There were more interesting things to inquire about. "What other types of individuals are here?" Simple enough question, even if he couldn't mention particulars.

Someone of her alignment probably shouldn't have marveled at what she was shown. "Oh~ That looks like it hurts." A demon that neither scoffed nor cowered at the sight of a cross. Her by-the-book counterparts would surely sneer at her. Not that she was much of a sweetheart to the likes of them either. Oh, so their guest was used to being ejected in such a manner. "Mm. It's an easy thing to get used to, really~" Said someone whose first thought of said amulets was essentially to hurt herself with them for fun. But singeing her skin for kicks in front of a doctor at work seemed like an absurd idea even to her. So somehow she continued to manage to keep her hands to herself. "Still hurts, though. Just end up paying less attention to the pain, I guess." Something she'd already touched upon before, so she felt no need to elaborate. Though it did lead her to the realization of something important. With quite the curious head tilt, she realized she hadn't asked, or even considered to ask, at all. "Why did you start? In regard to your duties to the church, I mean." She hadn't questioned it, hadn't attempted to persuade him to stop, and hadn't even complained all that much about it. That ridiculously unfaltering loyalty of hers certainly factored in, but he'd been straightforward with her from the beginning hadn't he? That it was just a job. To which she'd endeavored to be and considered herself successful in becoming an exception.

"...Am not." Saying immature things in a playful manner didn't make them any less immature. Sticking out her tongue just a bit probably didn't help either. "And if I am, it's because it's you." No need to restate the specifics he already knew, especially when there was no telling who was listening. Her eye was drawn back to the food she'd prepared. "I wonder if a tomato pilaf would've been nice. Wasn't enough room~ And, rice can be tricky to reheat. And~" There was a knowing look in that eye as it met his. "Somehow I'm thinking you wouldn't want to sacrifice potential sweets for something like rice."

"Maybe. Got to ask him, but not when he's after our food. Or shipping his charge in for his life to be saved again." Not like he started seeing them so much more after they got their hands messed up in stuff they probably should not have, but then... His research would probably not be as content-intensive as it was. "If things like a little cross can hurt him, it certainly doesn't show." Could have been a myriad of factors, both pre-death and post-death. He would not know which.

"Here? Or in this place in general?" Just in case anyone else barged in on their conversation, was that why? Can't blame her for that, two hijacks were more than enough. The only other (hopefully!) person would be right outside the door, to which he gave a quick nod of the head to. "The warden's right outside, if you're wondering if any more of the walls have ears. He's.... Well, I think you could determine whether or not he's trustworthy enough to not say anything on your own." Oh, he's actually smiling? Okay, a very barely hint of one, and already the tiniest cracks were spreading at the ends of the smile. And they quickly fix themselves once he drops the smile. Someone's determined not to mangle his own face in front of her. "I doubt he has taken note of anything he has heard, however."

Oh, that question. That one question, the most asked one out of the very small pool of questions that he had no answer for. "..... I have no idea," he mumbled, brute honesty substituting for that oh-so-familiar self-doubt. "I don't remember any reason to start. Medicine was intensive enough as it is without a side job." Amnesia was an awfully convenient excuse, nearly too convenient. But this was no epidemic, and he had no hand in that tangent. Probably. He hoped. It was enough to know that it had nearly prematurely because of his own doing.

Candied rice somehow did not sound very appetizing, even for someone who had the sugar intake of a photosynthesizing plant. And he was quite sick of having rice nearly every day thanks to Marie being a self-proclaimed 'rice bin'. "That's okay. I'm not particularly partial to rice anyway."

"Why does a ghost want food anyway~" She scoffed, partly out of finding the idea of ghosts eating absurd and partly just being vexed that anyone would expect a share of the food she'd prepared for him especially. That feline nature of hers seemed to be flaring up again. Not sharing food, not sharing his attention, nope nope nope. Though he'd brought up a point that interested her. "Oh~ Effectiveness doesn't necessarily equate out to pain, I suppose. Depends on creature in question, one'd suppose~ It'd definitely hurt me, so my own perspective was definitely coloring my words." Another mismatch between grim words and her sunny disposition. "While I was joking about you branding me, well... that's pretty much what it would do, wouldn't it?" Whether or not her wide-eyed musings were appreciated, well. Seemed she'd have to be corrected again if that wasn't the case. At least she wasn't openly laughing about her own warped sense of mortality again?

There was more to her offhanded question than she could've anticipated. "Here... this place? Do you mean, this area that you're in versus the place it's in, or..." There was no telling what she'd stumbled into in her single-minded pursuit to see him. Not that any serious words of warning would have stopped her. Still, her precipitous pattern of efforts didn't mean a complete lack of cognizance. "Well, I'm the outsider here, so." Always a redheaded little outlier wherever she went, really, but here? Even more so. Though she still thought the best of what her efforts were attempting to achieve. "So it's better to ask than find myself in trouble..." Asking after showing up was probably far from actually being cautious but in her own backwards way it was probably the expected behavior from the likes of her. Only to be thrown off by what came next. "Eeh, there's a person out there? But--" During her brief misadventure of falling around and being just short of being lost outright, missing any obvious sights like people or probably even any sort of monstrosities wouldn't be out of the question. Caught up in her own confusion she'd mostly missed what hints he'd had of a smile. Not completely, though, as in a quick succession of blinks she wondered if she'd only imagined seeing it.

The answer she received would naturally lead her to the next question of why he continued if he couldn't remember why, but... nah. Why start... why stop? She'd already robbed him of one routine and was disinclined to take another. "You look to be quite good at it, at least~" When his target wasn't a persistently flirty rebel, anyway. "...Did you need any help unpacking?" Well, she was bound to ask at some point. Might as well use it to cut an awkward subject short.

"Hnn. How about pasta?" She couldn't make a guess either way, so why not just ask? "It just... seemed too typical, for a tomato request." Definitely not the choice to make when she was, though in a more subtle way, still trying to show off. "And I am anything but typical~" Probably in many ways both unfortunate and undesirable. Which probably shouldn't have led her to openly brag about having said quality, though naturally she looked pretty pleased with herself in spite of that fact.

He shrugged. Somehow, there was not enough space to squeeze in that question between cries of help and possessed beings making off with his food? But then again, one could also argue that he himself technically did not need food, so he should know the answer to that question. "Sort of, I guess. The good thing about it is that they don't suffer lasting damage from it, so I don't need to start picking up those kind of procedures yet." Missed the point by a mile again, has he?

"He probably dropped by after you came in. Otherwise, you'd be sitting in the waiting bay outside now and I'd be getting a um, note about it." More like one of the quieter versions of a stern lecture. Sure, he was not the kind to laugh, but the very disappointed sighs held more than enough impact to hold as a scolding to keep in mind. And also - he was hoping that she would not dash off to chase him or something, whatever it was cats did around birds. There were enough incidents of torn feathers as it is. "Hmm... This place does have its fair share of um..." Stuck tongue. What would one call a bunch of people that were randomly displaced and each tacked on with memories and circumstances that did not make any sense? "... Not like they'd say anything, to be honest. There have been a lot more stranger cases that happened here, so I think most of the people in the know would not mind having you around. Much." Spit out that open invitation or she might mistake it for something else! Or a wandering spirit might just take it and run with it!

His attention got dragged back to the piles of things scattered around the room. "Oh, um, not really. Just some books to shelve and instruments to put away." He nearly got up and resumed his unpacking, only to get reminded that he had a guest and he should not leave her sitting at the table. Right. He could do it later, it was not like the books would pout at him if he did not attend to them at once.

At the mention of pasta, there was a small 'hhmph' of amusement from just beyond the door. His response? A defeated sigh. ".... That... That would be great, actually." Better than the unspoken joke that the cafeteria food was, and a change from uh, tacos. Of course, he was starting to learn that with her around the kitchen, the pasta was going to be anything but typical. Who knows, perhaps an office-full of pasta or pasta and bunny-shaped toppings?

That usual sort of sly amusement presented itself upon her face as she made an observation about what he was muttering about. "Healing ghosts? Is that what you're thinking over?" While her intention wasn't to ridicule she definitely wasn't hiding the fact that she was amused either. Once her amusement was through, she didn't hesitate in explaining her scope of the subject. "They're just composed of energy, aren't they? They collect energy, they sustain themselves, they get stronger, and the like~ They can be destroyed, or banished from here or there, but I never really thought of them as something that could sustain damage." She left out the part about them being annoyances as far as she was concerned. There were some of them that weren't annoyances. But for the most part?

"Hnn~" Had she really been that distracted, or were even her heightened senses unreliable in such a place? It was quite the unsettling thought. But she was there by choice and had no intention of letting her fear outweigh her goal, so. Better to make the best of it. "By 'sitting' you might mean 'complaining.'" The smirk that crept upon her face was both entertained and humbled. "Behaving, but complaining." Seemed that she was well aware of her bad behavior resulting from being unable to keep her mouth shut sometimes. "I can't help it. Just the thought of being forcibly kept away from you makes me feel anxious." An admission that resulted in quite the stubborn look upon her face, which softened just as quickly. "Which is different from one or both of us being busy. I don't like that, but I understand it." It was probably to be expected from a troublemaker such as herself, getting attached to someone hadn't much time or possibility to entertain her to begin with. Someone more normal would probably find the challenges presented too daunting. And she definitely didn't pretend that it'd been easy or gotten any easier. "That 'much' is a little troublesome. But with what I've endured to make it this far, what's a little more~" Seemed she wouldn't be discouraged so easily either. "Especially when the reward is seeing you." The pert little smile reinforced both the meaning of her words and that headstrong nature of hers.

Her eye was wide at his reluctant answer, followed by an airy sort of giggle behind a gloved hand. It hadn't been an offer, per se, but she was having too much fun playing not-really-house with him to correct him. Did it even really count if they weren't living together presently, with little possibility of ever doing so? More of those complications that she was well aware of, certainly. But why dwell upon them when there was enjoyment to be had? And with a narrowed eye and clever smile she was intent on seeing to just that. "Where is this sudden exasperation coming from? I mean~" She almost became indignant again, only to relax and shift the subject over a little. "Admittedly, it is fun making things again." The shy smile that followed might've been a little odd considering who it was coming from, but between a living weapon and a plague incarnate it was definitely a odd situation to begin with. What she chose to detail next wasn't necessarily new information to him, though perhaps she hadn't said as much outright. "I don't necessarily have to eat at all. Sometimes it's easier to just sleep. And even then, why not just have some coffee and cake, and go back to sleep?" A question that was both amusingly lazy and heartrendingly depressing. She seemed to have freed herself of those melancholy feelings for the time being, looking up at him with a hesitant sort of esteem. "It's nice to have something to look forward to. Hopefully that isn't--" Her words lacked the usual apologetic tone they tended to have when she felt like she was imposing upon him, but they still ended up caught in her throat anyway. "Hopefully that isn't a bother." And hopefully the sudden amount of clarity in the grey eye that looked right at him didn't totally terrify him. That too.
PostPosted: Wed Nov 12, 2014 10:19 pm

"Ummm...." Caught, aha! "N-Not that it's important, but.... Um..." Well, then the amount of scuffles they got into must have been only comic relief, then. No need for sudden bandaids or anything, phew. "Just in case things happen. There are always exceptions, are there not?" Like she was one.

The thought of her doing all the cheeky pouts outside with the warden trying to prevent her from rushing in? Amusing! But maybe not so much for either of them, so don't bring that up. "You could make an appointment though, that could... oh wait." Half-baked jokes aside, he was still here for a reason. This room was clearly not made for regular appointments. "... Never mind."

If this was supposed to be his annoyed face, then it was not. Just the same old frosty stare, this time directed towards the door. Wishes came true, alright. "N-Nothing. Nothing important, just..." He ended up shaking his head. How to explain that pasta was the topic that he was pretty keen on avoiding but nearly always came up during talks about tomatoes and food in the hospital? That's it, nobody's ever going to let him forget that.

".... Not at all." Words that came automatically. Nothing was at all a bother - not until he got sufficiently annoyed, that is. Her? Hmm, what could she do that would possibly annoy him? Popping by nearly every day? Making a scene in front of his coworkers? Presenting the possibility of getting embarrassed in front of a couple of select people? Strange, the answer he had was no, no and no.

"No helping one's own nature, hnn." It was difficult to hold back the extent of just how much she wanted to smile. And she didn't dare to comment on it, either. But as much as she admired his commitment to his profession, she also couldn't help but find it cute. At least a little. She helpfully piped up with her own ideas on the subject. "Probably along the line of healing the undead, yes? Though, how to apply it to something not just anyone can touch~" And already he was learning, whether intentionally or not, just what words to say to influence her mood. "Mm. Exceptions." Someone was a happy little exception.

"Oh~" Using underhanded logic to see him was something she'd somehow avoided utilizing so far. But before her mind was filled with wild ideas, her common sense managed to kick in. "I probably shouldn't be maiming myself in order to see you." There seemed to be some self assurance going on with stating such out loud. No, he was unlikely to like that at all. With a bit of a smile and a shrug she ceased entertaining that droll idea.

She looked over him curiously, but again decided to not press any further. "All right." He wouldn't always be so fortunate but it hardly seemed like an important subject to pressure him about. And all the better to inquire about just what else she could do. "Any other foods that you're interested in?" Asking a question only to be suddenly hit with her own irresponsible answer. "Though what else does one really need other than coffee and cake~" She took a moment to stretch back lazily, arms out and hands closed. Once she'd resumed her sitting position, she took a moment to clarify her musing. "And sugar. And alcohol. But those don't count as foods, so much." One might think they were under that assumption, considering how much each consumed of those two things respectively.

He'd answered so quickly! Whether that had implications or a lack thereof, the bright-eyed recipient of his words was grateful. "I'm... I'm glad!" Her usual sort of answer to being assured, but with no less meaning and just as breathlessly voiced. Her lack of courage to delve any deeper was simple to overlook when the control over the pacing had been returned to her. There'd probably never be a lack of obstacles and interference but ominous robots seemed like an improvement from what she'd been dealing with previously. The mixed thoughts of complications and robots led her to her next all-too-casual statement. "I finished eating every florentine, you know." Of course she'd have to tell him at some point. The meaning of those words was implied, though the charming sideways glance that went along with them certainly made up for anything left unsaid. "Though with that robot said I'm not sure about the status of all that." An ill-humored shrug detailed just what she thought of all that.

A strange, yet fanciful idea. Of course it would take such a work-oriented fellow to think of it. "Tangibility... Hm. Get something equally intangible to work with? But then I can't touch the instruments if they're intangible. Or turn something intangible solid? That would be easier. Question is how?" Irrelevant mumblings aside, someone should really learn how to put aside his work for once and socialize. This practice is not going that well.

"That... That was not the point." Had not expected her to go through with the whole 'injury' thing, huh. But it was Amarante, so just merely tricking the poor nurses with a feigned injury was not enough. "Don't, though. An emergency operation's much harder to get through than your think, and I don't think you'd like staying in the wards waiting for your turn." Actual... Slight fear? He should get someone else to work on her if that happened. Wait, what was that? Whatever happened to that old thought of 'just do it, he could do it'? Uh oh. Someone might just need to stand in after all.

He should just lend her his cookbook and be done with it. She can flip through it and see what he likes. And he slaps that hand that reaches for the side drawer before it does anything stupid. Surely he would not be able to finish all the food that she would bring if she managed to even skim the recipes! But then again it might have been retribution for trying to flood her with those - oh!

"..... Ah." Completely forgotten. How could he? Made even more obvious with the sudden flustered - no wait, she would finish it. He did expect her to do so, anyway. And he would keep a promise. Even if it meant getting laughed at all the while during preparations. And fretting over arrangements. And work. And sleep. Such problems of having someone by your side, always, always. "A promise is a promise, Ama. I'll uphold my end of the deal."

Better not show her just how flustered he really was. Good thing he had such a stony face, if the sudden nervous sweating was noticeable. Once again, with the questions of what to wear, how to not overdress, how to smile, smile, smile! No, hold off the smile practice until she leaves. She did not need to see that. It's not even Halloween.

For a moment her eye brimmed with excitement... only to dull all of a moment later. "Hnn~ It is unfortunate that skills don't function in the same manner as powers or abilities." An unusual sort of comment, but there was probably some sort of clarification forthcoming. "Because~ In me you have both a capable conduit and practitioner of the incorporeal." The ravishing smile that went with her statement probably didn't make up for the fact that she couldn't actually help him. But it was the sideways and sort of related thought that counted, right?

Ah, even only slightly entertaining that idea was quite the misstep! "No. Intentionally upsetting you? No, no." The head shaking that followed was brisk and thorough, to the point of making her somewhat dizzy. Once the agitation to her brain had ceased, she took the effort to provide a more concise explanation. "Underhanded ploys for your attention don't really work for your profession, hnn? Comes off rather unfavorably, considering." 'Psychotic' probably wouldn't be the wrong way to describe that level of effort. And she definitely wasn't! Not about the situation with him, anyway. And with that burgeoning bit of confidence, she decided to remind him of just that. "I'd like to think that my efforts to see you have been... honest, at least." Persistent and tenacious to the point of causing strife, but still honest.

Flooded with a mix of both of anxiousness and giddiness, she couldn't help but wring her hands a little. Even with all of the complications that went along with the continued pursuit of happiness on the path she'd chosen, the good still outweighed the bad. So while her smile was solemn, it was a smile nonetheless. "I just don't want your safety to be compromised as a result. That's all." Pointedly excluding herself it seemed. Ah, she wanted to discuss it further. Of course she did! To the point of bringing it up, even knowing that it was likely unsafe to venture into any details. How to proceed? Perhaps a tangential subject would do. "...You're not really the type to drink, are you? Socially or otherwise." There was that little bit of tangent. "I don't drink as much as, well, everyone else seems to think. I'd rather not revisit the path of abuse and addiction, after all." The hints of defeat and regret in her words traced the outline of a sour picture, there. But even with her curiosity regarding what his answer might be, she was quite satisfied with the reality they'd shared thus far. "Coffee's enough, even if we can't share alcohol. More than enough." Her sentimentality was cropping up again, in a strangely shy sort of way.

Strange. Training had taught two contrasting ways. "Dexterity sixteen, roll a sixteen and above, sum both and most skills should be - I mean! I should stop that." That was not applicable in their current situation. Not that he was governed by things like hard-wired orders or fanciful chance throws, not anymore. Perhaps once a upon a time, but now not so much. Rolled a one, however, and his perception for her little flattery is still next to nothing. "Still have a lot to learn. And so little time in a day." Hah! More like so little courage, or more specifically, wanton disregard for ethics. But laws were laws, he could toe the line as long as he did not show anyone just exactly how much he had wrecked through it already.

True, that. His colleagues were going to have such a hard time. "That's okay, I know you wouldn't do that. Dragging me out of here by the collar seems likelier than you doing that. Wait, no, I mean, no don't do that either." A mistake, and now he was just stepping on his own foot. Hold that tongue! Telling her that he'd put aside free slots would mean she was just filling up a day's worth of time, and saying that he can make special time for her meant that he was neglecting patients in favor of seeing her, and saying that he would spend as much time as possible would make him look bad, not much better than a clingy person - oh! How to go about doing this? He's gone and messed up now! What to do, what to do, the awkward silence dragging longer and longer and - he'd better drag in the next topic, stat!

"I... I doubt so." Not that much, if he kept his hands to himself. And any curious watchers locked up. And nice and calm before the stipulated time, of course. That would be a bit harder. It was very unpredictable, that situation. Much less the topic of alcohol. "... Not at all. Coffee is fine." Noodles abound! Surely she did not want to go through with watching an intoxicated fellow taking all the wrong turns at the wrong crossroads! Not that the drink itself was what he was worried about, but well, alcohol came in more forms than just liquid, did it not? Besides, that taste... He'd stick to the adulterated kind in the OT's dispenser bottles any day. Not the kind to have bitterness as an introspective outlet, huh. "Or, if you don't want coffee, then um... Ice cream? Yogurt? Shaved ice? Cold pudding? Jelly?" Except that the last three weren't exactly drinks, even if they did share the common 'freeze your teeth' theme. And all had the incapability to be significantly bitter. Go brush those teeth and drink water after all that sugar!

"Roll... dice?" His solely text-utilized companion didn't quite understand but still attempted to come to a logical conclusion. Though another thought was quick to pull her attention away from all of that. "Oh~ Your ice is rather like an ability, yes? Think of all the things we could freeze if we amplified that~" What exactly they could accomplish with that was anyone's guess. Apparently the idea of the two of them being able to do things together was too intoxicating, no matter how little logic was involved. Or how dangerous it was for everyone else, being that a powerful weapon was deeply devoted to him and would likely grant his every request. That too.

As entertaining as that idea was, of course Amarante would have to cheerfully assure him of the unlikelihood of that happening. "I--" She caught herself before saying anything that could be considering damning if it happened to be overheard. "I respect you too much, to do that to you." One of many truths, and one that couldn't be used against her. Right? And an interchangeable word for 'like' or 'love' as far as she was concerned, hopefully just as effective if not more. "Unless you start avoiding me, for whatever reason." The sudden displeasure that washed across her face showed an obvious discomfort with even the idea of such an occurrence. "I'd like to think that we trust each other enough to not have to resort to something as childish as that..." Something she'd resorted to all of a few months ago? "...I'm sorry, for the times I've done exactly that." At the very least she was aware of her own involvement with the bad behavior she was shaming. "But!" Though not without attempting to excuse herself of it, it seemed. At least a little. "I had my reasons." It was a flimsy excuse at best but somehow it'd still been the more mature decision. Avoiding him or having a jealous fit? There hadn't been a 'right' way out of that situation. And he'd effortlessly drawn her back in regardless. Ah, long past the point of escaping. But also, long past the point of having any desire to do so.

Any sort of poeticism she could end up lost in never obscured the reality of the situation to her, however. "Anyone else that I should know about that's bound to tail you and interrupt things?" Though the question came out as a joke, there was no hiding the frustration mixed in there either. "Ah, even if they do~ And I'm sure they will." She'd only just asked and already she'd accepted that there just had to be someone that was bound to show up and wreck things. Not only tempting the fates but practically welcoming them. Might as well, right? The likelihood of any sort of disaster happening couldn't wreck the heart of the matter for her. "I'm still really happy." Hands clutched together and close to her face, she looked very much like she'd captured something she cherished very much. And certainly couldn't look him in the eye at that moment, absolutely not! Where her thinking out loud went next didn't help matters at all. "Would the ears and tail be nice to wear? I wonder~" What had been asked as an innocent but definitely mischievous question flooded her mind with all of the recent memories and sensations of being petted. As overwhelming as the idea of tempting him to the point of needing to find somewhere private for petting with the possibility of things escalating was... no, no. She'd be fair. "...Maybe not, this time. Another time. I'll behave." What could be interpreted as a dismissive gesture doubled as a way to fan her suddenly hot face and pull her out of that decadent path of thought. Latching on to the next subject helped that along too. "A pity, about the alcohol~ Well, we don't need to share all of our interests." There was already a comfortable amount of similarities for her to be content with, after all. "I can't imagine that social bathing would be good for you either, as much as I'd like that." The grimly entertaining idea of the icy bloody biohazard she'd be stuck cleaning up herself far outweighed any enjoyment that could be found in that. Definitely not any time soon, with that. And oh, back to food! "All of those... for now? Then? Both?" If it was meant to be a choice she'd failed to acknowledge that part, completely. "I like things that are sweet and cold." It still counted as behaving if the flirting was done in a roundabout way that might be deflected by denseness, right?

"A city. Perhaps more, depending on power level." Succinct and to the point - had he done that before? Perhaps. An accident, thoroughly cleared up of course. But still not very easy with the idea of being strapped up to a table for experiments, even if he was slightly partial to doing that himself. Can't guarantee that 'own safety' thing. Seriously, he did not need that.

She had? Oh yeah, she had. Such impeccable memory, not. "I understand. Everyone needs some alone time now and again." If only they'd stop using his office as said alone time venue. "You included, of course. It's also best time for snacking, because you have an actual reason to be mad at somebody if they came in to steal your food." Someone was very protective of their munchie stash, to the point of tangential non-sequiturs. "Uh... That does not mean anything. Sorry. Off topic again."

Ah, Already worried that her little date would have so many party crashers. She was learning, he guessed. But it was not a nice thing to be learning, of course. "Never mind about that. I'll take special care to make sure no one else decides to interrupt. As much as I can, that is." The level of exasperation in his tone was there, no thanks to all the various interlopers, and it was only what, how many times he had seen her? But then again it was either the kind of people who would blow their way through walls and doors even if they so much as stood between them, and the kind of people who could walk through said walls and doors anyway. Mostly. Tin can not withstanding, they weren't exactly the most dangerous people she could meet.

Understatement of the [insert time duration]. She could just as easily walk down the halls and get lost. For no reason other than someone wanting to mess with her. Perhaps the severity of things he had seared his own retinas with made all these more 'inexplicable' happenings so 'mundane' to him. Possessed dolls and night-stalking apparitions were just the tip of the iceberg. She did not need to know about those now, then. Ignorance was such a safety veil.

Oh, she was going to not tease him about that? Great! Not that the thought should have struck him earlier, but he should have been worried. She could just pull out all the stops and do the teasing with the ears, tail, possible figure and embarrassment if he somehow got dragged into a bath with her if neither were already frozen the moment they stepped in. Isn't that supposed to be nothing to gawk at by now?

Dragging it back to food before he could fry an egg frozen on his own face. "Okay. All for then, if you're fine with it."

What. Okay. That was supposed to be an 'or' choice, not an 'We'll take it all' choice. Both of them. Come on.

"Sweet and cold, sweet and cold... Hold on." Leafing through that recipe book, aha! Transportation not being the problem, but would she like this? Or that? And which of these were classified as non-kidney-exploding? And still could be presentable in a relatively calm manner without overdoing it. What was it with these two and going overboard for all the little things?

"Surely we could do better than that. I'm an amplifier, after all!" Amplifier, generator. Same difference. That she was huffy about something they were unlikely to do anyway was ridiculous in the first place. Though it seemed that within her mind better uses for that combined power were surfacing. "Actually, that wouldn't be a bad way for us to make an escape. Provided it was someone that wasn't persistent enough to seek us out later. And with more force." So, not always an applicable fix for their pursuers. Probably barely useful at all. But still a more sensible use than her romantic vision of freezing the world over just because.

"That's.. not quite the same..." The lingering guilt was the only reason she felt any need to protest at his generous interpretation. With a sigh she reluctantly let it go without arguing further, as what merit would there be in attempting to argue through her bad feelings? Though of course she took up the straying subject with great enthusiasm. "Right~? People barging in demanding what you have when they could simply order something from cafe instead." Apparently hiding herself away in order to avoid sharing whatever she had wasn't an unfamiliar experience to Amarante. She was soon rifling through her inner coat pockets for something. She presented him with a chocolate bar, its bright packaging of course going along all too well with the bright look in her eye. "I'm always happy to share with you, though." Being her usual noble self when it came to pretty much anything regarding him but still going that extra distance by making the effort before even stating her intentions. She was no longer making bold attempts to impress him but still continued with her subtle expressions of affection.

"But... !" She slumped in her chair for a moment. Reconciling her trust in him with her overwhelming desire to protect him was just tiring sometimes. Sitting back up, she acquiesced to be assured by his words. "All right." Wasn't as if the interruptions were pleasant for him either. "I'm sure that you understand, but--" It was difficult to ignore that fear that persisted as she once again took a moment to look him over, but she did her best. "It's just too important to be reckless about it. That's all." The masked meaning of those words of course, being, 'you're just too important.' Presently there wasn't any real need to stress as much but of course she couldn't help but quietly urge so anyway.

Deflected as expected! Seemed she was too content to have a tsundere reaction, however, simply stifling a giggle instead. He was well aware of her feelings for him so for the most part any perceived 'need' for an onslaught of romantic nonsense had passed. She wouldn't let him forget, but she wouldn't promote undue suffering through sappiness either. Having him fearing where her sentimentality would strike next would be the opposite of the solace she wished to promote for him. So, not a worry or complaint in sight. Just a happy nod as she affirmed what she'd said. "Mm. All of it!"
