Iniko missed his friends reaction to his light teasing because he was focused on getting to the next branch- he was unaware of just how well that had hit it's mark. "Oh I'm sure you can, but it's not pleasant." Iniko grimaced, remembering Jameson pulling that prank on a poor boy who hadn't known what outside food was like. Iniko had just pulled himself onto a branch and rested his belly on it when Jarlan spoke again. "Really?" He raised an eyebrow. "That's kinda a tame thing, and besides, why rush it?" He reached for the next branch. "I'd have to do it somewhere cold incase she blushed too hard." He muttered half under his breath.

Wylie laughed at Nieve, and finished up the measurements. "Alrighty then, you're free to go jump around excitedly. Maybe do it up in the cold though, so you don't hurt yourself?" She patted Nieve's head. "Or go check up on the boys."

Jarlan thought about the story that would come out of that experience and smiled. Grabbing the next branch, he felt himself tiring out. 'He had to pick the taller of the trees..' Pulling himself up slowly, he rested against the trunk for a minute. "We're not isolated anymore Iniko. She could easily grab the attention of others down at the town and find them interesting." He said these things knowing that it wouldn't happen anyways, not after hearing all that he had in that prison. "Then again, why rush it?" He braced himself, seeing as the next branch was across from him instead of above him.

Nieve pouted. "I suppose that's a good idea." While she wanted to check up on the boys, they were spending time together - and she didn't want to intrude on that. "Maybe. That might be a better idea, knowing them." She started to walk out of the room, contemplating what she wanted to do. "I can't thank you enough Wylie." She flashed a smile, then skipped out of the cabin to begin her walk around. Her decision had been to check up on the boys, then head to the colder part of the mountain - since she would want to stay in the cold once she got there.

Iniko stopped, and glanced at him, before smiling softly. "Yeah, they could. But ya know, you guys have enough to adjust to without me throwing a relationship in her face. I'm going to take it a little bit slow, but not super slow." HE gave a laugh. "After all, slow for me is normal for you guys." He glanced up the tree, and heaved a sigh. "Wishin' I hadn't said no powers." He gave a jump, grabbing another branch and heaving himself up, his foot braced against the bark. "You cutting up your feet, barefoot boy?"

Wylie smiled at her, and patted her head. "No worries Queenie, I enjoy sewing." Wylie watched her walk away, before spreading hte fabric out on the floor, and beginning to sketch pattern pieces onto it.

Jarlan nodded as he listened to Iniko, then laughed softly. "True, I'll give you that." He had some trouble grabbing onto the branch that was across from him, but he had gotten to it and pulled himself up. "I'm glad you didn't though. I'm having fun and feeling like a normal person for once." He sighed himself, resting against the trunk again. At the mention of cut up feet, he blinked. He hadn't even realized his feet could be hurt over the scraped hand he already had. "'m not sure. Let's see." Turning his foot so he could see, he shrugged. "They're scraped up, nothing I can't handle."

Nieve blinked looking up at the tree that the boys were climbing. Looking confused, she cupped her hands around her mouth and called out to them. "What are you guys doing? You could fall and break something." She sighed, and shook her head.

Iniko grinned a bit, trying to scramble further, even though the branches were getting harder to reach. For not the first time in his life, he wondered what it would be like to be tall like Jarlan... or Wylie. Grumbling under his breath about how unfair it was she was still taller than him, he tried reaching farther up. "Glad your feet aren't shredded, or Wylie and Nieve would-" Right on time, he heard Nieves call. "Hey there!" He grinned, and contemplated waving- but then he might fall, and she'd get to say she was right. "We're having a competition! Though I've gone and forgotten what the winner gets."
PostPosted: Wed Dec 10, 2014 8:02 pm

Jarlan looked at Nieve and smiled. "We'll be fine, stop worrying so much!" He climbed to a higher branch, being careful but doing it quickly so she couldn't see the bottoms of his feet. He didn't feel like getting a lecture on why he needed to wear the dreaded boots to climb trees. No way. He chuckled as Iniko spoke, and shook his head. "How convenient, I forgot too."

Nieve offered a worried smile to the both of them. "You both better be careful. Wylie and I don't need broken boys to tend to." She waved her hand before pointing towards where she remembered the snow. "I'm going to be up in the snow if you guys want to join me when you're done with your competition." She smiled again, waving once more and began to head towards the snow. Between the exertion earlier, Wylie's teasing, and the overall excitement of today, Nieve's face felt a bit warm.
She was walking quickly, trying to get to the snow as fast as possible - she wanted to know what happened when she heated up like this but, she knew better than to try and find out away from the cold - though she could feel herself slowing down as she began to actually feel the warm sensation. It was uncomfortable for her, but her legs seemed to ache the more she walked. "Oh come on." She muttered under her breath, pushing herself to keep walking on.
Suddenly, pain coursed through her and she gasped. She began to heat up much faster than she had thought, and soon she was burning. She felt like her insides were melting, and her eyes released the tears that had been welling up. Instead of freezing, they continued to trail down her face - and they seemed to burn too. It was then that she finally hit the snow, and she threw herself into it - welcoming the cold. It didn't help like she thought it would, as it seemed to start to melt under her. Was she really that hot? Tired and in pain, she shut her eyes and welcomed the sleep that came.

Iniko laughed with Nieve while she teased them, and grinned cockily. "Don't you remember what we've escaped from? I think we can handle a tree. A few, even." He spoke lightly of what they'd been through, but it was weighing heavily on his mind all the time and, when she started to walk away, he paused mid-climb to watch her go. With a soft sight, and a wistful smile, he turned back to the tree and began to scramble, wondering in the back of his mind if he could use his powers just a little without Jarlan noticing.

Wylie was in the middle of laying out the fabric and drawing the pattern on when she realized she was missing a measurement- the length of Nieve's shoulders. "Damn. I don't want to put the seams in the wrong spot and make em fall right off her shoulders." Pushing her hair out of her face, Wylie adjusted her hat, long since returned to her head, and rushed out towards the hill. She laughed and waved when she passed by Jarlan and Iniko. "Hey guys! Forgot a measurement." She waggled the measuring tape. "But I get to race the winner when I get back!" Laughing, she began to skip up the hill- until she caught sight of Nieve's blue hair spilled out over the snow. "NIEVE!" Wylie's scream probably echooed down the mountain, and there was a chilling quality to it.
Her long legs propelled her up the hill, and she scooped Nieve up bridal style, the smaller girl not weighing very much considering Wylie's adrenaline.pumping her legs against the snow, which was getting thicker and thicker, Wylie didn't stop running- not even to check for a pulse- until the snow was up to her waist, and she'd been slowed to a trudge. Even as Nieve's arm trailed along the snow, it had gotten so high, Wylie pushed farther up the mountain. Her fingers and lips had long since turned blue, and Wylie was numb to it. All she could think about was swimming through the snow to get Nieve to the coldest possible place.

Jarlan had continued to climb, even as Nieve pointed towards the snow. Idly, he began to wonder if she was going up there because she liked the climate or if it was because she was starting to warm up and didn't want to tell anyone. Pulling himself up to the next branch, he paused as Wylie had passed by, waving at her as she had. "Of course!" He chuckled, now wanting to win just so he could go up against Wylie. He had watched her go, though not too long as he went back to climbing, a bit more determined than before. Hearing the scream, two things had worried him - the first being Wylie's tone and the second was that she was screaming Nieve's name. Panic coursed through him and he looked at Iniko before deciding that jumping down the tree was the fasted way down - not thinking about how high they actually were. With his only intention to get to the girls, he jumped.

Nieve hadn't woken - let alone move in the slightest - to the scream of her name. One could see she was breathing, though it was erratic and easy to see she was going through some sort of pain. When Wylie had picked her up, the younger girl's skin had a natural flush and she was radiating a soft warmth, but during the trek up the snowy mountain her temperature fell back down to icy and the naturally flushed skin died back down into the pale tone it normally was. Even as her breathing fell back into a normal rhythm, her eyes stayed shut. She made no signs of waking up, even in the freezing environment. The snow had done it's job, Wylie had helped her and now she needed rest - not that she had the option to wake up and tell anyone that.

Iniko chuckled at Wylie, rolling her eyes. They'd spent so long holed up in there, and she didn't even get everything? Noticing Jarlans new determination, he laughed outright, and began climbing faster, keeping an even pace with Jarlan, but still just a little behind because of his smaller stature. "That excited to climb a tree with Wylie, huh?" He teased, just cause it made sense to, as the older kids, Jarlan and Wylie had always been playfully competitive growing up.

Before Iniko could get a response, though, he heard Wylie's scream. His blood ran cold, and he was shot back to his frantic escape from the facility. Shaking his head, he realized he'd slowed time in instinct, just in time to make eye contact iwth Jarlan, slightly above them- and in time to realize what Jarlan was about to do. The idiot! Leaning back, Iniko reached out, and grabbed onto Jarlans arm. It was in that split second he realized two things. One, he was also an idiot, and two, this about about to hurt. A lot.

The momentum of the larger boy pulled him from the tree, but rather than Jarlan jumping clear of the branches and plummeting straight to the earth- as had no doubt been his goal- the two boys crashed into the branches below them in a helpless tangle of limbs reaching for purchase. That branch broke, and crashed into the next one- and so on and so forth. Though it only took moments, Iniko still had time slowed, and each scratch and thud was incredibly painful- but better than the, at minimum, broken legs Jarlan would be experiencing.

They finally hit the ground with a reverberating thud that knocked Iniko out of his time trance, and he rested his head against some of the branches still below them. "You IDIOT." He scolded the other boy. "Gravity WORKS, and with broken legs we can't help- Nieve!" With a start, Iniko pushed to his feet and, slowing time down, began to race towards where Wylie and Nieve had run off to.

Wylie staggered, and tripped. The snow was above her waist, soaked through the jeans and sweater she wore. Nieve spilled out of her arms and landed on the snow, making a soft indent. Wylie, shivering and her teeth chattering like a madman, struggled to her feet. She lurched towards Nieve, but her legs wobbled, and she just collapsed on the ground next to her. Even as the cold began to creep in, and her vision went black, Wylie pushed her hand towards Nieve, and rested it on her forehead. A relieved breath escaped Wylie's frozen lips at the cool temperature, and then she passed out herself.

Nieve made no move to get up, staying in the snow as she slept. For now, the girl was locked in her own mind. 'Nieve sat at a bench in the middle of nowhere it seemed. She had been laying out on it, trying to cool off in the blistering sun that beat down when - in a turn of events - the sun grew covered by clouds and it began to snow. "How did...?" Sitting up, she caught the flakes in her hands and watched as the snow covered everything, making it easier to just breathe. "This isn't normal.." Standing up, she tried to walk away from the bench to find other surroundings, but even as the bench grew farther and farther away it was as if nothing was truly there at all.'

Unlike Iniko, Jarlan's perspective of the fall was quick. He cursed under his breath as his weight pulled Iniko down with him, and cursed again when the branch that they scrambled to grab broke. Shutting his eyes, he waited until they hit the ground, making sure he made no sound as he got scratched up and thrown around. It was once they hit the ground that sound came out as well as all the air in Jarlan's lungs. As he coughed and tried to regain the air he lost, the mind controller stood and waved his hand. He heard Iniko's voice, but his mind didn't clue him into the words that were being said. All that mattered right now was Wylie and Nieve, and he began his own sprint as his friend took off ahead. Putting the shoes back on to prevent frostbite or anymore injuries didn't occur to him, and he continued to push his legs as fast as he could - ignoring the stinging in his feet.

Wylie sat up, and glanced around. It was odd. She was sitting in nothingness, just sitting on what she assumed to be ground. In the far distance, she could see a... bench? And a figure moving towards her. This isn't Jarlans dream... While she'd always been adept at looking into others dreams, Jarlan's were the only ones she had managed to invade before. And this mindscape seemed a little... off. She couldn't figure out who's it was based on her surroundings.
Oh! Glancing down as she remembered the dress from Jarlans dreams, Wylie peaked to see what she was wearing in this one. Odd. She wore a pair of light blue jeans, and a gingam colored button up shirt. She looked like a mom from the 90s, if she had her facts straight. Remaining sitting down, she looped her arms around her legs, and lifted her hand. She was tempted to make something to relieve the boredom, but until she knew who's mind she was in, that wasn't a good idea. With a sigh, she pushed to her feet, and walked towards the figure, a bounce in her step. As she started to walk, she realized there were snowflakes coming down. Her eyes widened, and she ran full-force towards the figure, which revealed itself to be Nieve. Laughing, she scooped Nieve into her arms and spun her around. "Heya Queenie!" She stopped, still holding Nieve up high, with the girls shins braced against her chest, and Wylie's arms locked behind Nieve's knees for stablity. "What's up with this place, do you know?"

Iniko realized Jarlan wasn't listening, and cursed under his breath, before sprinting towards the mountaintop. He had no idea how far the girls had gotten, how much of a head start they had from that tree fall, or even the exact direction they'd gone.

Jameson, who had heard the scream as well, was halfway to grabbing his shot gun when he second guessed himself, and glanced outside. Did they even need his help? These four kids he'd found himself with... They were definitely having their troubles adjusting, and he didn't think he was making it better... But then he reflected on the fear in Wylie's voice. Gripping his shot gun tightly, Jameson began to run up the mountain himself, though at a slightly slower pace that the suped up kids.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 08, 2015 9:04 am

Nieve had been walking farther away from the bench than she had wanted to, when she started to see a figure. There hadn't been a figure before, so why now? Then it came rushing at her and she had tensed until she realized it was Wylie. "W-wylie?!" She smiled as Wylie spun her around and laughed softly. "What are you doing here?" She smiled, but seemed to be concerned.
"This place?" Glancing around, she realized how barren it truly was. The snow on the ground was the only sign of there actually being a ground, and the sky seemed so far up. "I'm not entirely sure. I always end up coming here at some point in my sleep." It hit her then that she was asleep, and she looked at Wylie. "I'm sleeping? I remember feeling like I was burning, and then really sleepy." She frowned softly, and then looked around again. "I think I see a door over there.."
Nieve squinted to see a bit farther, and nodded. There was a door, big and metal which seemed oddly familiar. "While we're here, we might as well explore!" She waved her arms around, smiling. "I hope this isn't as barren as it looks."

Still holding Nieve, Wylie turned to look around her. "I'm not sure what I'm doing here." She tilted her head, "I'm not positive where 'here' is. It doesn't feel like a normal dreamscape." Wylie chewed on her lip a moment, before giving Nieve a lopsided grin. "I think we're in your head, Nieve. Like, deeper than your dreams." Wylie had projected things into peoples minds before, but only the surface. "Messing around with stuff in here can do serious damage." But then Nieve was waving her arms around, and Wylie gave a grin, her self-control slipping. "Let's go then!" With a quick turn, she had Nieve piggyback, and started sprinting towards the door. As they got closer and closer, though, there seemed to be parts of the whiteness that didn't totally blend with the rest, though Wylie couldn't focus on them before her vision skittered away.

Coming up upon the big metal door, Wylie tilted her head. "It's not a door, it's a gate." She let go of Nieve's leg with one of her hands and reached out- but stopped. "Nieve-" Wylie glanced up at her, hesitant. There was something they were supposed to be doing, Wylie could feel it. Something... important. Staring at her outstretched hand while the snowflakes fell on her skin, it almost looked as if the whiteness was trying to creep in and claim her.

Iniko paused to stop for breath, only for half a second, and then kept sprinting. The snow was coming down in light flakes, but Iniko still almost didn't see the girls. His foot caught on the edge of Wylie's bured hat, and send him face first into the snow. Sitting up and glancing around, he saw them a few feet away, slowly being covered by snow. Rushing over, he began to shake them. "Guys, wake up!"
PostPosted: Sun Mar 22, 2015 11:16 pm

When Wylie began to carry her piggyback style, Nieve giggled and held on tightly to her shoulders. "If this is deeper than my dreams, I'm really empty headed." It was a joke, but she was trying to show her friend that she had heard what she said before. When they finally got to the door, she could see it wasn't a door at all. "I wonder why there's a gate here.." When her friend looked up at her, she gave a smile. "Oh come on Wylie! Let's see what's in there!" Wiggling out of Wylie's other arm, the smaller girl ran up to the gate, before making her way past it. She hadn't expected to see a big courtyard though.

"Why is there . . ?" She trailed off, looking at the large space in front of her. It was octagonal in shape, which Nieve found pretty cool, but what really confused her was why every stone she stepped on had a letter etched into it. She stepped off to the side of one, just staring at the ground to see the whole courtyard filling with letter stones. "Have you ever seen anything like this before?" She asked the older girl idly, playing connect the letters in her head. So far she had found that some of the letters connected to make the other three's names, and the others she began to murmur softly. "Alone... tired. . . help. . . freak. . . violent? Why?" Nieve made a face, soon connecting all the letters to make words that seemed really familiar to her.

Looking up from the ground, she took a quick step back. Her eyes had fallen on one of the many corners and . . . were those chains? Not wanting to focus on that, she glanced back down at the floor, finding a new phrase etched over and over more so than the names of her friends - 'never escaping'. "Where is this?"

Jarlan could hear twigs and leaves crunch under his boots - a bit thankful he had thought to put them on despite his distaste for them. Pushing himself to run faster than he had before, he tripped and rolled forward a bit. "Just my luck." He muttered, pulling himself up off the ground and not caring about any dirt stains he might have acquired or the twisted ankle he just made worse.

Wylie gave a chuckle at Nieve's joke. "If you say so." Her stomach was rolling, like something wasn't sitting well inside it, but Wylie followed Nieve into the courtyard. She was glancing around at the white... chains? When she heard Nieve speak again. "Nieve?" Turning her head, Wylie followed Nieve's gaze to the cobblestones. "Nieve, I don't see anything." She crouched down, and ran her fingers over one of the stones.

Shocked, Wylie realized there were divets in the stone that she couldn't see, but Nieve could. "Nieve, what do they-" Wylie's voice trailed off as she heard the things Nieve was reading.
Oh. Wylie pushed to her feet, intending to wrap the smaller girl into a hug- when she heard the scuff of something- eight somethings- scratching against stone. Lunging forward, Wylie swung Nieve behind her. "Something's here." Her eyes darted around. but Wylie was unable to find- "Invisible!" She extended a hand back to Nieve. "Make me some snow." If she could throw a snowball at whatever was here, maybe they'd be able to see what it was. Even if it was only for a moment, it'd help.

What Wylie didn't want to dwell on is why there would be some
thing in Nieve's self-loathing. It sounded large, scuffing along the stones as it was.
