He could see more faces, vague and grey and unfamiliar, and he wished he knew who they were, wish he understood who the voices belonged to because he could hear them saying things, hear quiet, laughing voices, something gold and something bright red -
Someone was humming.
He turned around, the last bit of fragment grasped beneath his fingers, and caught sight of her a short distance away. Moving curiously towards her, he tilted his head, smiled slightly, and said, a little hesitantly, "That's a pretty tune you're making."

She was back. Hekhis looked at the goddess with a mix of curiosity and awe at how...whole she seemed to be, compared to the shadowy masses that had assembled in her domain. Cautiously, she approached.
Had she stumbled? Had she closed her eyes and forgotten how to open them again? Darkness seemed to fall upon her, enveloping her. Warmth. Cold. Safety. Panic. Confusion. It felt like there were two conflicting thoughts in her head, and she struggled to make sense of them. It hurt her head to linger on it.
Hekhis could feel the wings of the angel as they brushed over her, pulling the conflicting thought from her head, and leaving just a safeness. A warmth. She felt better without it.
But what had it been?

Another grey wisp darted past. Stew reached for it, but his flaking hands were too slow to grab it. He felt nothing from this one, but just because no new questions arose didn't mean the old ones didn't continue to plague him. His Goddess had mentioned tasks, and catching these fleeting bits of grey seemed like a worthy one to start. He would gladly give some to her once he'd examined them more closely himself.

A sideways glance at the goddess - angel - what she was made him move instinctively closer to her, giving her a curious look. He reached out towards her, then stopped himself, pulling back a little with a slight frown on his face.

He was about to stand straight again when he saw it.
The fragment twitched where it was embedded in the ground and Stew reached for it, finally able to wrap his crumbling fingers around it before it could get away. They had no trouble closing around the strange grey form now, and they even seemed to solidify when he touched it. The fragment stopped moving once he had claimed it, conceding defeat.
He had won.
He had...
Stew squeezed his hands into fists again, but this time the claws he grew didn't crumble.

The voice was faint, but it was as if he heard it before. Maiden did not understand why there was a sudden ache near the amber glow on his body. "This does not feel right." he moaned to himself as he chased down another gem this one sitting perched on a heap of twisted metal that he was climbing up with reckless abandon. "Anyone out here, hello?" he called out in the shelter, the pattering of rain the only thing to hinder the sound of his voice.

There was a voice nearby.
The fragment he held had sharpened his sight only slightly, but it was enough to make out the shape to his left. It had a bright heart like his, glowing with a slightly deeper shade of the same color.
"Yes. I am here. Stew." His fingers loosened from their fists, even as a twinge of jealousy prickled its way from his heart down through his limbs. What if this other found more fragments than he did? Stew couldn't let that happen.
"Have you been here long? Have you seen anything interesting?" Always questions.

For a while, Remye had simply wandered, ducking from one lame sort of shelter to another to get out of the stinging rain. This was exhausting really, and every time she got close enough to an orb to snatch it, it just -- Poof! Gone, into the murky fog. It was a bit frustrating. Eventually, the girl just returned to the ruins of the Subway station.
There were more... people? Shadows? Hearts here, but perhaps more orbs too. For a time, Remye sat on the stairs, watching everything passively. She nearly missed the glowing, warm grey to her left, and turned sharply at it, staring slightly. What. So close...
She grabbed the fragment before it could disappear, grinning shortly before the fragment gave her its gift.

She shook off the anger behind the words, unphased for the most part. Another angry fragment. What were these? Getting up, Remye went further into the ruins to see if she could find more. Hm.

She stood in a darkened subway, still full of questions and still so unsure, so lost. That darkness, at some point while she wandered this ruined place, became more absolute, more inky black in one specific area that caught her flickering attention.
And then yellow eyes that seemed to pulse and resonate with Sheenah's own heart. It brought what might have been a smile to an other wise grey and featureless face, and she moved towards those two orbs of yellow instinctively, feeling the pull as the others did.
The goddess brushed against her with wings, and it Sheenah with feelings of warmth and security. Despite all of her questions, she felt that none if it mattered so much as this, so much as just being in the goddesses presence. In a sense...it was as close to rapture as she could even fathom right now.
As the goddesses wings pulled away, Sheenah stepped back, and all of that security and well being crumbled away into dust that was whipped away in the fog. Something wrenched deep inside, but she couldn't say what, or even speak properly to describe it if she cared to.
More questions sprung to mind, burned inside of her. The questions are what filled her when the warmth of safety waned away. She turned to move on, more driven to find the answers then before.

Kin was just emerging into the rain for the first time when he realized a sensation. Pain, it was unpleasant and he shambled toward something to keep the irritating water from the sky from falling on him. He was beginning to crawl under part of a crumbled building when something flittered quickly in his peripheral.
Instinctively reaching out he grabbed the flittering fragment and it flooded his mind with one word. Beast. He wasn't sure if he liked how it sounded but part of him wanted more, whatever he had grabbed made him feel more, solid.

Oh boy, those glowing things were pretty common, weren't they? As she watched another one zip past, Vae decided--for whatever reason--that it would be in her best interest to try catching one of them. Considering how she wasn't sure what else she could possibly do right now, distracting herself with the task at hand seemed like a good idea.
After that, maybe she could actually get some answers for some of her questions.

Though the shadow was eager to find fragments, it seemed that even here, they were cleverly elusive. She scowled as one blipped out before she could snatch it up, and looked around, squinting slightly as she took in her settings. Glowy fragments, where did you go...

After How the last fragment he happened to find made him feel Kin wanted more. While he felt a bit more solid he also felt a tiny bit more aware. He began noticing other glowing yellow hearts again as he had before.
His blurry face scrunched in almost annoyance, would they take the fragments and steal the feeling they gave him? As he was watching the other heart shaped blurs another fragment zipped past him and he stumbled forward snatching the second one, he couldn't believe how lucky he was to get two in the same place.
This time the fragment send a crushing feeling on loneliness through him, a guarded figure alone and not letting anyone in. Kin felt physically more solid but mentally much weaker...

Her search as she moved away from the goddess brought her to a point where she was facing something quite curious indeed. A crystal, something not at all large or unobtrusive, hovering in the air just barely beyond reach.
She wanted it.
Darting forward, grey, cracked fingers that bled grey mist wrapped around the crystal and pulled it closer to herself.
You make me weak....
The words startled her, for the sound of them was familiar, a memory just out of reach that was quickly swallowed back up by her need for answers to all of her rising questions.
