She glances at her cousin, "The lady was a harpy off-breed. The medicines were so that she could heal and stuff like that. It didn't phase her that her medicines were for herself only. That's why her medicines made Jay change into bird, because the medicine was made for herself."

Kitara sighs, "We don't know the real reason, but once he started to change, we went back as soon as we could. She said there was no way that we could stop him from changing into a bird. So, from then on, he was a bluejay and he'll be one until death, though still an elf."

Lael frowns. "Were the medicins a mixture of herbs? Or berries, maybe? I've never heard of anything like that." She looks at Jay. "That sort of thing should not have happened. She should have thought ahead. She shouldn't have given you that. It was foolish of her. Just foolish," she says softy but firmly, with just a hint of steal on her voice.

"Yes," Lael says. "I've noticed. Those also came from the medicin then?" She looks at them putting together what she's seen and begining to realize that they're probably not just friends. "I suppose that either way you're lucky to have each other," she finally says.

"He'd never dye his hair, trust me, Darian. And, Lael, he's fully elf, fully bluejay. The two forms have merged so he continues to have his elvish features even when in bluejay form and he has bluejay features when he is in elf form," Elvini says before sighing, "There is no cure and his lifespan has shortened because of it. It's hard to deal with this as he is my best friend. However, we still can be by each other."

Jay twitters something, leaning into her hand that pets his head.

She nods, "And, we travel together because no other elves, when he first turned into a bluejay, would believe he was Jay the blonde elf boy that they knew. His parents still loved, and still love, him but felt that it would be easier if, since I learned bluejay so I could talk with him, he'd be with me. That's why we're always together, plus other reasons."

Kitara turns to Lael and whispers with a slight nod, "Thank you, Lael."

She then turns her eyes forward as they continue down the path. Jay twitters something and takes flight from her shoulder, flying a bit of a way into the forest. She chirps after him something to the extent of, when translated into English, 'be careful'.

Kitara pauses before responding, "I don't know, Lael, what kind of mixture it was, to tell the truth. I didn't really care because we were only about eight, anyways. She didn't know, though. So... yeah...."

"It's not too suprising that you don't remember, seeing as you were very young. Either way, it's very unlikly that it was a single herb, berry, animal, ect. It was probably a mixture. And it's very likly that the old woman was the only one who knew it or that it was passed through her family. So you'll probably never see anything like it again." She shrugs. "Still, I'm kinda curious as to what mixture could possibly do something like that. I've never heard of anything like it."
