Best: Kent and Sain. I love their dynamic with each other.
Worst: Alec and Noish. Kinda boring... they're very similar to Kent and Sain, but not as relevant and executed (poor choice of words) as well.

Best: Shinon/Rolf.
Their dynamic together is wonderful, and it helps that they are devastatingly USEFUL archers, between the existence of shortbows and bows with massive range, not to mention the Deadeye skill. And yes, I consider them a red/green duo. FE9/10 have several of them.
Worst: Ugh, could I call Edward and Leonardo a green/red duo? They fit the archetype, just not the colors. Guess not. :<
So Tormod/Muarim. They're just... My issue is that they COULD have been great, but the game never went really deep into them and their dynamic unfortunately, so this red/green beorc/laguz pair just becomes extraneous characters in a game with another, generally better tiger, and many better mages. It kind of makes me wish they'd gotten the Awakening formula much earlier, I totally would have explored their backstory if I could check out all their supports without having to use them in the storyline.

I guess I have to explain that I am talking about the Abel/Cain duo. I should have clarified. Sorry Tibarn.

yo imma let you finish but pokémon had the best red/green duo of all timeI think the best was probably Kent/Sain. Firstly, they were two units that tend to not become completely useless later in the game, which is a lot more than I can say for some other cavalier pairs. Secondly, they have great personalities, both with each other and with other units. Kent was duty-bound and was more than eager to grow exasperated at Sain's bullcrap, while Sain was content to go around flirting with all the ladies and being a generally crazy guy. Worst: Sully/Stahl. Kudos for making one of the cavaliers a girl, but did you have to make her quickly useless three chapters later?

What Sully are you talking about?
In any case, are we supposed to be talking about stats and whatnot for this week? I didn't see the point in doing so.

Awakening. Maybe I just got extremely unlucky with her, but in two separate runs her stats were absolutely pitiful. Her growths were horrid. We're not talking babying for the purpose of creating a godly character like Donnel. I'm talking going out of my way to try to level this girl and she just cannot take a hit. She would die left and right and finally I got to the point where I just didn't even try anymore. Believe me, I love her character. I wanted to like her as a unit. Even Stahl could take a hit, but Sully was just complete dead weight to me.

Nomad Rath In any case, are we supposed to be talking about stats and whatnot for this week? Some weeks I feel like asking this just going by what people are voting and saying. I'm under the assumption it's always supposed to be based on their performance as units. Best: FE11, FE6, and FE9 have the pairs I'm considering. There are other really good pairs in the series but these entries have the red/green duos among the best units in the entire game. I think I'm going to vote FE9's Oscar/Kieran, where Oscar can become invicincible, and both get awesome Canto, and a mastery skill that lets them act even MORE autonomously without needing healing (of all the classes to give a Mastery Skill scroll to, Cavs are the most justified easily), and the weapon of their choice upon promotion. It's good to have a horse in FE9. Cavs rule the roost there. I may change my vote later in the week, though. Worst: Alva and Kein. The FE5 duo you'd never know exists, and might as well not. At least Alec can safely help you recruit Ayra, but Alec/Noish gets dishonorable mention

Best: For best, I'm not entirely sure. I want to judge them both as a duo, since we are judging them together and not on their own. FE9, FE11 and FE13 come to mind most of all. In FE9 Kieran joins much later than Oscar does, though both of them support and while Oscar is the better of the two, Kieran is also good, and as was stated before FE9 is a great time for cavaliers. In FE11 Cain and Abel join at the exact same time (give or take prologue chapters, but whatever), and the two of them do support one another and provide great beginning backup. FE13's red/green duo can potentially marry and be far more effective together, but that is generally not a good idea gameplay wise and would gimp the usefulness of both units as far as their potential goes, so I don't think I'd vote for them. I think I will go with FE11 for now.
Just for fun, favorite Red/Green duo character-wise is Kent and Sain.
Worst: I wouldn't have thought of Kain and Alva as a red/green duo if they weren't listed on the FE wiki's archetype page. Selphina's crew reminded me more of Hardin's crew than anything else. But if they count I guess I'll put them here.

Best: SERRA, FTW. Okay, so I am incredibly biased because she is one of my favorites evar. That and in my file she ended up amazing. But that's probably because I spammed the crud out of her to get her leveled so quick.
Worst: Uh, probably gonna have to go with Saul. Poooor, bad, mag growths for me, I got RNG screwed so hard with him and finally just gave up. Clarine and Ellen got tons better stat growths so I left him in the dust.
Natasha, hands down. This lady gets geeat stats when she levels almost all the time, and by endgame she is just..amazing. And yes, I am biased, too, but not nearly as much as Mandi and I actually thought this through. She seems to level decently and her stave level goes up fast, too, making me prefer her over Moulder. And then there's the fact that I have a thing for blonds and that I throw her with Joshua for awesomeness, so, ignore my stupidity.
Worst: ...You know, that's quite difficult for me to say. Hmm... Thinking through all the files I've played, probably gonna settle on Ellen. Though she's the first healer you get in FE 6, her growths are kind of underwhelming and Clarine outclasses her with just a few levels on her part once you get her, so... Yeah.

I'm always annoyed when people praise Natasha over Moulder. I think someone voted him for worst in something in the old thread and I flipped my s**t. He comes sooner and at a higher level than Natasha. Not that people can't prefer Natasha, but almost always, the people praising Natasha haven't even ever seriously tried using Moulder because "ew, old guy compared to pretty young blonde girl" despite the fact that objectively speaking Moulder is considered the superior of the two in tier lists and such.
ANYWAY, let's play the "Who has and hasn't played FE5" game! Here's how it works: if you've played FE5, you will inevitably vote Safy for best. And if you don't vote Safy for best, you haven't played FE5.
Best: Safy
Worst: Laura
I really had to think upon this one. At first, I figured it would be the latest joining healer you receive (which would be FE11 Elice), but then I realized anyone in a game with Warp where it lets you go ANYWHERE can't be worst. The staff is THAT good (plus Elice's A rank lets her spam Fortify and she can use Aum for shiggles). Of the remaining entries, I considered Laura and Brady, but even with Brady's potentially shaky start and joining situation, he has the potential to promote or reclass immediately and also has the potential to be a zero-effort needed Rally-bot, which can be very useful.
Which leaves Laura. Normally, I wouldn't hold having another healer around against a healer because you're not required or limited to using only one. And in a lot of playthroughs, particularly on harder difficulties, adding more healers is one of the best decisions you can make. But Laura is an anomaly for this. She exists in a game where healing with a staff is less impressive because a Vulnerary heal 20 and a Concoction can heal 40, making staff-based healing far less impressive. Plus, the non-healing staves aren't as exploitable. Plus, for being your first staves-only unit of FE10, she actually doesn't have awesome availability because of how FE10 plays out (not that she has bad availability; it just doesn't work in her favor like it would in other entries where you'd have just one group that kept growing). She also levels too slowly just limited to staves compared to other games and even moreso when you're focusing on raising just a few DB units to kick a**/survive in Part 3 and doesn't benefit from Bexp Abuse to great success because of shitty caps for her class tree (further inhibiting her is that the DB really wants it's fighters to be as good as possible so they should get Bexp priority). There's really little reason to seriously use her after a certain point, but even if you do, she doesn't impress. She's usable, sure, but difficult to make worthwhile even and not worth the effort. Almost all other healing people can be considered worthwhile when used.

Best: My stafy Safy.
Worst: I'm no stranger to picking on easy targets. While Laura might be redundant in the face of a staff-using lord and available healing items, she isn't as redundant as our four noble-blooded women of the cloth that come in during the final chapter of FE3/12. Laura at least comes in early and while you might not want to split up that healer experience, she can help keep a relatively understaffed (hurr hurr) team fortified. As opposed to healers that come in during the final chapter when you have absolutely no use for them. They aren't there to be useful, they are there to be part of the final battle and offer some last minute bittersweet feelings if you did everything right. So I'll go with FE12 Maria for being the lamest of them. She makes me get all emotional, sure, but we're not here to talk about that.

My mind immediately considered that quad as well, Tiki. But they're all technically Bishops and can use tomes when you get them and the topic specified they had to be able to ONLY use staves this week.
