I still read current comics(for the most part), but mostly just series I'm interested in. I'll read the crossovers' main titles to see if I like it, and seek out the tie-ins if I do, or just pass it up if I don't. I like being up to date on the state of the business, so it's kinda a compulsion to me as much as a hobby. to read the crossovers.

Mind you, I don't hate all crossovers/events. Avengers Disassembled was pretty good despite some of the more shock-oriented stuff. Civil War was actually pretty good if you can get past certain characters' hypocrisy and the extremely problematic ending. Dark Reign was probably the best crossover of the recent chain of crossovers, but it ended on a rather bad and rushed note with Siege(particularly with Ares's and Sentry's deaths). World War Hulk was pretty damn good, but its biggest downside was the complete lack of repercussions for such a large scale event. I rather liked Shadowland for what it was, but I realize it had it had some things other may not have liked. Fear Itself had the same problems as World War Hulk, a massive scale event that was mostly good with little consequence. Among the X-Men events I liked the Messiah trilogy, mostly, but it ended on a sour note because while Second Coming wasn't awful it didn't match up to Messiah Complex or Messiah War, and was much more flawed than the previous two events; one thing I can say about X-book related events is that they have a lot more consequences than the major crossovers. Age of X was a unique idea and I thought it was a pretty good comic, and had some great tie-ins. Necrosha I thought was a really good one, and the variant covers were just too awesome to NOT collect(they were all tributes to vampire movie posters like for Lost Boys and the like, but with X-Force characters).

I LOVED Curse of the Mutants because it had a real grindhouse b-movie feel to it, and Dracula's redesign was ******** awesome, and seeing Xarus get his comeuppance was just too satisfying. The only part I didn't like about it was the whole Jubilee going Twihard subplot, but honestly within the event it came off more (at least to me) as parody than anything. It also had the benefit of great tie-in comics(my favorites being the Storm and Gambit one shot, and the Namor comic). It was an event that did not seem to take itself seriously and relished in its absolute absurdity, which I've come to love from Victor Gischler's comics.

Oh dear I forgot to reply to someone in the story. I honestly can't remember how Leion is supposed to know her, curse my bad memory.

I don't think I can recall that far back, as my mom and dad(for the all of five minutes he was around) taught me how to read with comic books before I even started going to elementary school. All I know is my first comic book was either Sin City(a.k.a. the last good thing Frank Miller ever wrote before he became an incompetent writer) or the Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi series(I believe it was either the Freedon Nadd Uprising or the one with Ulic Qel-Droma).

Man, I think my first comic purchased was X-Men 30.. wedding of Cyke and Jean. But I got hooked by reading the first run of Excalibur of all things while staying at my cousin's house in the summer. Nightcrawler/Cerise are still one of my favorite pairs wink

I just read All New X-Men #9 today and I pretty much squealed at the end of it.

I think my first comic was the collected Death of Superman run... pretty much just the Supes/Doomsday fight. It is, at least, the first I can remember reading. My father had it for some reason, and I think I just enjoyed the pictures... I also had some miscellaneous Batman books around that involved fighting some weird, very 90s style alien in a construction site...

I bought the whole of Whedon's Astonishing X-Men in collected form when I was first really trying to break into comic reading. Don't really remember why I chose it. Still, it remains my favorite X-Men run. I was probably 14 when that happened... It's the main reason why I am absolutely in love with Kitty Pryde.

(and i swear to gahd, omegas, you better post or i will stab you with a syphilis infected spoon)

I never really got into the collecting comics aspect, but I do know my first comic was an X-Men comic. This was when Magneto resurfaced and had stolen a nuclear submarine and s**t. However I have to admit, the first Spider-Man film really got me into comics as a whole.

A lot of old school fans(myself included) seem to love Joss Whedon's run on Astonishing X-Men because it tends to call back to X-Men's glory days during Chris Claremont's run. It and Grant Morrison's run are among my favorites.

Although personally I'd like to see Whedon do another run on Runaways(pun totally intended), since it's been like four years since the last volume ended(on a cliffhanger no less) and that happens to be my favorite comic.

So I just read through the first six issues of Avengers Arena.

All I can say is ******** everyone who thought this comic was a good idea with a spiked baseball bat. Repeatedly and with increasing ferocity.

Guild Announcement

It's about that time again...Posts are still taking too long-- So I'll need to skip ahead soon. I'll give you guys a few more days...But other than that it's been PLENTY of time. If you aren't able to get your post in before I move forward... It's honestly your own fault.

It's just not fair to everyone that posts consistently that YOU keep them waiting ten years. I know that's a little blunt...But lets be clear-- You've had the time. It's been half a month. If you didn't utilize it...That's on you. I don't want to hear any complaining or bitching. If you get skipped...Perhaps you should have posted when you had the chance.

No more excuses.

I still haven't read any of Hawkeye, but the entire internet has been gushing over that book for a year now, so I feel I should.

Also, SL: THANK YOU.

My apologies if I appear to be holding anyone up. I was waiting on Aeon to post something or else my post would appear tacky (skipping them over and whatnot) lol. If they do not respond by tomorrow night, I'll have another post up.

Okay so so far I'm not hating Age of Ultron, but as a seasoned veteran of Brian Michael Bendis crossover events, allow me to make a few bold predictions about where the story will go:

1. Nothing will actually come of it, and everything will be completely back to normal in the most ridiculous way imaginable in like an in-story week after the event finished.
2. It's going to end on an extremely unsatisfying note.
3. A lot of useless cheap deaths that don't even matter in the long run.

Because it's Marvel, and more importantly, a Bendis comic.

EDIT: I feel like every event comic ever should take example from Annihilation. I consider that the benchmark for great event comics in the modern era.
