Devon breath in her scent, the smell of shampoo still in her hair. "Home. Always home." he said. So all that was trapping her was her mother? That is what it seemed from her earlier explaining. Did she really feel that she was to blame for her father's death? What had happened to him? And why was her mother never there for her. The more he thought about this woman the more he disliked her, to put it lightly. "If you ever want to tell me everything, do so." he said. "You are mine and no matter what you say, I will always be hear. Okay? Just remember that."

Lark opened her eyes and looked at him sadly but a little hopeful. "Do you promise will always be together and you won't leave me alone because I can't stand to be alone even if you do hear about how it was my fault that my own father died do you promise?" She whispered as she reached for his hand

Devon started to answer, than paused. "I can't always be with you. There will be times now and then when I'll have to go for a time." he said. "But until that happens, I'll be here. And I'll always come back, I promise." he stated. He made a note to himself to have either Bo or one of the others to stick with her if he left. He was also curious about this father of hers. What made her his dead was her fault?

Lark looked him with tears in her eyes as she pressed her body a little more closer to him. "By why would you leave and where would you be going is it because of me?" she asked scared it was the case what if she really was a burden to Devon she would rather he tell her now instead of hiding it

Devon brow furrowed as he look down at her. Would she always break down like his at the thought of being alone? He hoped not. He'd try to comfort her as best he could, but what about afterward? He almost didn't want to go anywhere at the thought of her panic. He wiped the tears before they fell. "I leave for business. Meetings and law enforcement. Never because of you. I'd bring you with me if I could. But it's never because of you." he assured her the best he could.

Lark sniffed and leaned against his hand which was resting against her check a light smile on her face. "I'm sorry I'm such a cry baby I don't mean to be it just happens but could you really take me with you I mean what would be stopping you?" She asked a more bright tone in her voice as a wind blew her hair around her face

Devon frowned. "I'll be busy all day. You'd be in a big city by yourself all day. I'm not letting you do that. And no way I'm a letting you around strange weres." he growled protectively. He could imagine getting lost and into trouble. She was so fragile. Plus there was no way he was having any pack around her either.

Lark poked Devon in his chest right in the middle of his growl cutting the sound off short while she was giggling a smile on her face. "You make it sound like I haven't been to the city before how do you think I get back and forth from the collage with no car and by your tone you seem to think the minute you take your eyes off me I'm in some kind of trouble I can behave you know."

Devon didn't like that at all. But she was somewhat right... as much as he hated to admit it. "I trust you." he told her. "I just don't trust everyone else." He sighed. "This place has a large city, I admit. But the thought of you walking the streets alone don't comfort me at all." He rubbed his eyes. "There's no helping it is there?"

"No there isn't because you can't keep me locked away forever just because you are overprotective and besides am I really going to be in any more danger with you than I would be with someone like Sheryl but if it would make you feel any better you could have someone watch me as I'm in the city or keep tabs on me some other way because I don't like the thought I begin a bother but then again I could stay if you were to ask me nicely. " Lark said blinking up at him with her big brown eyes

Devon grumbled unintelligibly. "I won't put you in a cage. But you can't come with me. I have control over my people. But we're territorial by nature. Having you there right now might make me a bit short." he sighed. "My pack I trust. At least my second and third. I know you'd be safe with them around." Devon looked into her eyes was grinned. She was so innocent looking sometimes. "You're never a bother." he murmured softly. He kissed her lips lightly. Teasing. "Stay here for me, alright?" There faces were barely inches apart.

Lark had a harder time not kissing back this time but she managed it she really wanted to play this game again she wanted to see if he really was tempted by her or was he just saying that and yes she knew testing a wolf could be dangerous but she didn't fear because she knew in her heart Devon would never hurt her. "Your going to have to ask nicer than that I'm afraid or I just might sneak into the truck of your car." she laughed a bit at the growl that answered that statement

It had taken a lot of effort just to kiss her lightly. A second time didn't work. The minute his lips met hers it was like fire. He pulled closer to him, kissing her thoroughly. He was pleased when she responded It was a while before he pulled himself away. He put his face in her hair, breathing in her scent. It took a minute to piece back together his thoughts and control. "Please don't do that, Lark." his voice rumbled. "Around you my control is almost shot."

Lark was taken by surprise by the fire that started the moment he kissed her again and she was equally blown away by her response to the kiss in fact she matched his kiss with her own fire but she didn't fight it in fact she let it sweep her away she was a little worried when Devon made a sound in his chest that wasn't exactly a growl or groan it was something like a purr but she couldn't be sure when he finally did pull away she found herself breathing a little heavy as she was held tight against his chest with his face in her hair the only response she could give as she catching her breathe when he made that request was a nod but she was smiling

He was taking deliberate breaths to help calm himself down. He needed to be more careful. She was... He didn't even now how to describe it. She torn up his control like fire and he found himself wanting more then just one or too small kisses. He shook his head and stood, picking her up as he did. "Come on. You must be starving by now." he commented absently. Food wasn't really that important to him at the moment.
