This time, patiently getting the ropes to work in her benefit, she carefully used her chakra to lace the ropes itself and get rid of the friction that was making it hard to untie. She almost didn't make it, but with a little struggling Sakura was able to slip the rope from under and untie her one on the lower part of her forearm. Now with only three lest, she sagged a little. As much as she wanted to keep going, she had to rest pretty soon. Feeling a little glad that she had managed to get this far so soon though, she hoped her good luck would last and get her out of these quickly. Then she could follow Amaya and perhaps get aquainted with that new chakra signature. She was so sure she had felt it somewhere before, but she didn't know if her feelings were right. It didn't really matter, she decided, because she would try to get along with that person too. As long as they weren't that bad and snobbish, she didn't think she would have too hard a time working with anyone. A little lighthearted, she went back her task and got to work again with renewed determination.

Amaya nibbled at her meal a little more while Akeru was adjusting his sword and talking. When she decided she had enough, the child closed up the box and slipped it back into her pack. She wasn’t one for meals, so even a full bento box was usually a bit much for her. However, that gave her something to munch on if she got hungry and had the time to later. There was nothing wrong with leftovers; at least in the small girl’s book.

Eseinin: so that made Akeru a medic-nin. She should have been able to guess by his calm mannerisms, but she wasn’t accustomed enough to the shinobi world to confidently make sure guesses. Amaya listened to him as he explained why the Hokage had assigned him to the task of training the newest graduates while the small girl adjusted slightly by leaning back on her locked arms so that her body was slightly tilted. Amaya knew that it was the entire village that was understaffed; then again, if made sense. What would happen if academy classes stayed as small as her class was? Sure, it would be easy to have enough chunnin to teach them all, but they would be horrendously understaffed everywhere else in the village as larger numbers began retiring and as more and more people died off. Sure, while there wasn’t a line on the home front, the village was still at war at it was still requiring a massive number of shinobi in order to foot all the missions, hospitals, and training facilities – much less all the other things that she couldn’t come up with off the top of her head.

The child smiled when she noticed Akeru’s demeanor change quite suddenly. He seemed to be more comfortable, he didn’t stutter, and the only time his pausing seemed to stop was when he was trying to figure out his phrasing. She couldn’t blame him there. After all, his audience was only eight years old. None the less, he carried on and almost startled Amaya with the ferocity of his final statement. There were a few groups that was indicative of, but the girl wasn’t going to start prodding and guessing.

“Am I disappointed?” Amaya echoed his question, trying to figure out where exactly it came from. “What is there to be disappointed with?” As she fired back another question, the girl made a point to look up at him, questioning clearly resting beneath her blackened eyes. “I find what you do quite admirable. Eseinin are vital to any operation and they do have to last longer than anyone else in their squad because they are a person’s real last line of defense. Sure, a group may lose ground or they may lose a post, but once you start losing people your chances of victory decrease exponentially.” She child was almost proud of her analysis, but she was also a little bit ashamed about the fact that she had been explaining the worth of a medic-nin to an eseinin. Plus, she had more or less just reworded what he had just told her. “I apologize, Akeru-san.” There was just a little lace of shame at the edge of her voice. “I shouldn’t be ranting, much less telling you what you already know.”

Just because water conforms does not mean it is any lesser an element.

He rewarded her answer with a dazzling smile. What a curious child, she had not expressed disappointment that he was not an offensive class. And though she was of no shinobi lineage of renown, she expressed truly deep thought on a field he had expected her to be little versed with. When he was a child, and taught by the Uchiha Elders the history of the village, the other children in the clan attending the same classes had always said they liked best the "Shodai" or "Nidai" Hokages -- even though both had been enemies to the clan, it was because the children had admired the Senju Kages for their strength. Nobody had ever said they admired best the Senju Godaime, who was an Eseinin of unrivaled caliber.

Even he had not truly understood why the Elders stated calmly at that time Godaime was respected for different reasons, but those reasons did not in any manner make her inferior.

"How wise a child..." Replied Akeru. "At your age, most are blinded so by the grandeur of the shinobi, by the prospect of power." Such children do not understand truly how filthy this line of work was until it was too late, and they were inevitably broken in spirit. "I, too... Once desired to be 'strongest'."

"But I had the fortune to meet excellent people."

With his next words, even the bright light in his golden eyes seem to reflect his earnesty.

"...I think it would be a great honor, to have you as a Genin."

The child felt a sense of victory when Akeru flashed her that smile of his. It truly was a gorgeous smile and she couldn’t help but drink it in. Amaya felt rewarded with this smile, like she had done something right. It was obvious that something was racing through Akeru’s mind, even though his eyes still shone in the sunlight. Where had she seen that color before? Unfortunately, though she had begun working in the shop, she had not had enough exposure to customers to begin distinguishing traits from one clan to another. It was a skill that she would eventually acquire, but with working in the back as much as she was it was difficult to learn about all the fascinating people that came into the forge: for the average chunnin picking up an order for the academy to the collector who had travelled the world for business. They were all so fascinating and Amaya wanted to hear the stories from every single one of them, but that was also bad manners when conducting business.

There was another gentle welling of pride when Akeru referred to her as wise, something that she never would have applied to herself. This was a man that she was growing to admire as they continued to talk, to the extended compliment put a close mouthed smile on her face. Praise was something that she was unaccustomed to, though there had been no need for it in her household. So she took in every bit of it when she did receive it so that it would keep her moral high for as long as possible. While there weren’t occasions that had tested that self worth, it was nice to have a little store in the back of her mind where she could pull moments like these to lift her up if the time ever came that she needed it.

Not only had he blessed her with a smile and graced her with a compliment, but Akeru even mentioned his past. It was at that point that Amaya knew she had gained a new friend, though their ages and statures in both society and the shinobi realm were drastically different. He was opening up to her, even though it wasn’t a “pour out your heart” open. Then again, that wasn’t something the child wanted. She liked that the door was opening slowing. That meant that camaraderie, trust, and friendship took time and that is what made it meaningful and worthwhile. He hadn’t given her much, but a past ambition was something that Amaya treasured knowing.

However, little did she know that the best part was about to come. Amaya saw a flash in his lovely amber eyes, coloring of the eyes was one of the few things she was occasionally envious about in other people, and she couldn’t help but wonder what was coming. Amaya returned the man’s earlier smile with one that shone with happiness, though not as dazzling as his had been. “It would be an incredible honor, to have you as a sensei.” Sure, she more or less mirrored what he had said and she would have used great if her mind had not been so suddenly jumbled. Then, the child’s smile started slowly vanishing as her eyes turned away and toward the grass. While it didn’t fade completely, she was almost always smiling slightly, Amaya realized that this probably couldn’t happen with her place in the Academy.

“The Hokage told you that the first three graduates are yours to teach.” She trailed off slightly before bringing herself back in; she had been taking toll of her classmates and, though they hadn’t made much progress over that day, they were still far ahead of the young Keiji girl. “While I would like nothing more that to have you as my sensei, this is only my first day at the academy and there are students that are far ahead of me in the curriculum. There is very little chance that I will be one of the first three to graduate.” Though Amaya saw no way to make that a reality, she still managed to look up at the man beside her and give him an honest smile. It wasn’t like her to get upset at news like that, she typically flowed with whatever came her way; no matter how much she wished it was different.

Within the confines of his mind, Akeru's thoughts warred with her reply. Ah, so he sees. She was only beginning the curriculum. What to do? He could designate a student by the Claim of Druthers and delay when he officialize his team so that she graduates with them. By his birthright as a member of an aristocratic family, he could choose a student upon the reason that she has potential to become a great treasure of Konoha. It would be the one and only request he'll ever ask from the Uchiha Ichizoku. But given the village's state of war, his godfather would also be very angry with him. No, more than that, the anger from the Hokage he can weather, but he wasn't sure if the Nara would act unpredictably and instead express disappointment...

The look in his golden eyes grew calculating. Perhaps, there was another way. A way that will not require him to outmaneuver his godfather. He was not one to appreciate duplicity in utilizing the Druthers: look where that got his godfather, the former Senju Zephyr, whom had the heirs to two clans and a child born to important parents from a third. No, rather than relying on a silly law to determine for certain at least one of his students, he could help her train.

"Hokage-sama said I can take a leave from the hospital in preparation." He said slowly.

"I could guide your training."

Going at the ropes again, Sakura reached for the knot on the upper sides, but it was harder than she had thought it would be, her fingers just scraping the edge of the knot. Struggling and twisting her right arm upwards so that it was a little bent, reaching for the knot in the middle. It was just out of her reach though, and Sakura had to rest her tired arms for a while before trying again. Wondering again as to how much time this would take, she pondered over the progress she had already made and decided that she was doing remarkably fast. Perhaps she had felt that it was faster because of her dash of good luck, and the fact that it was going a lot better than the chakra molding. Constant use of the chakra was helping her have better control over it too, so all this was good practice. The way she had been brought in was a little... embarrassing, but all in all, she was content with how things had went so far. Steadying herself, she got ready to work on that troublesome knot again. This time, she would definitely make it work!

Having come to her reality, Amaya arched her back to stretch it. The day was gorgeous. Tucked back in the shade was just cool enough and the warm breeze was like being cuddled. That same breeze, however, was still lifting and swirling the little wisps of black around the child’s head. Up against the gentle blue sky there were thin, almost transparent, clouds floating across the sky in their ever renewing forms. The child looked up through the leaves of the massive oak tree that was providing their shade as Akeru fought with himself, unbeknownst to his young companion. She loved the glimmering effect of the rustling leaves interfering with the light that tries to fight its way to the soft, lush grass below. She couldn’t choose a better day to have lunch outside and to make things better, she was with wonderful company; or at least her opinion was in his favor.

When Amaya looked over at Akeru, she noticed a change in his eyes. It seemed like he was trying to figure out a situation that the child just couldn’t help. Not only did she still have numerous assignments to complete, but she didn’t have all of her supplies. Ko-sensei had yet to hand out weapons, Amaya would be asking to throw senbon, because they were supposed to do that as a group activity; or so she assumed. It seemed like everything he had set up was in a group format, but there were students at different points in their training and they were all working at different speeds. Amaya seemed to be working the quickest, but then again she had also been bubbling over with excitement and anticipation all day because she had started in the academy.

The young girl was pulled back from her thoughts when she heard Akeru’s voice. Amaya found herself listening closely as he spoke slowly, measured in his words. While most children her age wouldn’t pay as much attention, Amaya was the kind of person to focus on one thing and take it in entirely when she could get away with it and this was one of those times. Her expression changed slowly to one that would most commonly be translated as disbelief, though that wasn’t quite her attention. The girl’s eyes widened slightly and her mouth slacked agape just slightly as she looked at the young man beside her. However, with a couple of rapid succession blinks, the girl was able to pull herself out of the self induced stupor. “Akeru-san, it would be a wonderful opportunity to train with you.” Amaya wanted very much to work with Akeru. She knew that he could teach her things that she had yet to imagine. He probably knew all of the little tricks that would help make a training session more successful. Plus, this would allow her training to move much faster than it had been since everything she had learn as of so far had been under her own power. Amaya had yet to take assistance from anyone. “However,” the child knew that she couldn’t overstep some boundaries, so she had to put some insurance out there. Amaya knew that Akeru was a higher level than Ko-sensei, so that wasn’t a concern. “The Hokage gave you time for your preparations, I wouldn’t want training me to get in the way of what you need to do no matter how much I want to.” The child hoped that the meaning was clear: while she wanted to train with him, if he had stuff that he needed to get done then she wanted him to do that first before volunteering his time to help her. Amaya just hoped that she didn't come off as rude or forceful because she really did hope that he would choose to stay and train her.

Patiently reaching for her chakra pool, Sakura finally grasped the rope that she had been trying to reach the last time, and pushed her chakra through, surrounding the rope itself so it would reduce friction within itself. Even if she reduced the friction usiing chakra however, it still put her in an awkward position where it was uncomfortable, verging on painful, to hold her srists like how she had it right now to release the knot. Tugging and pulling, she finally got the rope undone, making it come loose.

Relaxing, she checked to see how many there were left. Because Sakura had focused too much on the assignment, she had almost forgotten how many she had left. Using her almost free hands, Sakura counted two more left until she was completely free. Silently pondering when the others would come, she sat straight and got ready to start finishing up, getting the tape off her mouth so she could finally breath properly.

"Right then!" he shouted as he figured that enough people had gathered in the classroom "I won't be able to sneak attack them all.. I did the whole thing to see how they'd fair when faced with a few seconds of utter confusion.. I have to include it in some other exercise then" he cleared his throut before speaking once more. "If you would all follow me to the secound floor, I have a room prepared for this next lesson!" he took the lead and went out of the classroom first, down the hall and up the stairs.

There he waited for everyone to have followed him before he slid the door open and saw Sakura-chan still tied up. "Now then, you will each take a seat next your name sign. There, by the sign, is a lunchbox. Your lunchbox. You will have the privelge of this lunch after you have escaped the ten knots I am about to tie on you. And of course, this wouldn't be a jutsu lesson if you didn't actually use chakra. So, as you try to escape, you use chakra too. I don't want to give you any more details. This is something you will have to discover on your own. So, please everyone, have a seat!" he noted that he sounded a bit pompus for some reason, but he stack with it since it sounded a bit funny. He fetched a bunch of rope and placed it out by each lunchbox, then he started with the tieing of the first student "Oh, and Sakura-chan. If you are confused to why I didn't sneak up on them like I did with you and Amaya-chan, well.. That is because I am kinda lousy at close combat, and I couldn't handle more than two of you. Four(?) students would have been too messy" and with that he tied up the rest, gave everyone some tape around their mouths, before closing the door and returning back downstairs. "If I haven't misstaken, the only person left is the girl whom I shouted at before.. Herou-chan? Heouru-chan?.. What was it?"

~Resting post~

Just as she was about to get on to the last two knots, Sakurayuki heard some commotion outside the door, followed with several footsteaps signaling multiple people. The door to the classroom promptly opened and Sakura watched as eveyone except Hoeru-san file in, with the sensei explaining the purposes of the Nawanuke no jutsu. Then he proceeded to simply get the rope, and everyone allowed themselves to be bound and taped on the mouth without much commotion.

Sakura balked as Manabu-sensei explained his reason for the lack of ambushing the other students. If she knew this was going to happen, she would have taken as long as she could in order to finish with everyone else. But nooo, she had to go and finish early and embarrass herself as she was ambushed by her very own sensei just because he could. Exasparated, Sakura just simply looked away from the sensei and attempted to smile. She shook her head sideways just a little to convey that she was ok and to say hi. Now, as... touching as this reunion was, Sakura was more than ready to get out of her bonds and run and escape the now-full room in favor of going outside and climbing into a nice tree branch to rest. Getting ready to summon her chakra, Yuki shut everyone else away again, batting down the mild irritation from earlier.

The method was now pretty set in a standard method for her, but Sakura had difficulty in reaching the last two. She had barely made it for the last one, but even with the use of her chakra, she couldn't get it to come down enough for her to reach. It also didn't help that everyone was staring at her just because she was there first. It seemed that she would need to use some more chakra in order to force the ropes downwards so her could reach them easily. Trying the energy, she first probed the rope to see how tight it was and how it was tied up, then proceeded to make a mental image in her mind. That would have to do for this try, and deeming this a good enough place to stop, she released her flow of energy to bulid up another one. Feeling quite tired, she told herself that the next try would be her last one before doing anything else. She was verging the end of her reserves quite often today, and it was taking a toll on her concentration a little. Yuki wouldn't let that hinder her, however, and she went back to the ropes with a new-found determination.

Well, she was almost out of these infernal ropes, and Sakura silently congratulated herself as she utilized the chakra in order to get free of the ropes and shake them out of the way. She was almost done now, with only the last knot left to go. However, Yuki felt a little faint, and although her instincts wer screaming at her to just push herself, common sense told her to refrain from using any more chakra unless she wanted to faint in front of everyone else.

Impatient, Sakura just contented herself with bringing the ropes downwards. The last one was so loose that she could almost slip out of them, since the circumference of her forearms were larger than her wrists. Impatient to get on with it, she told herself to rest up before trying anything else.

Shiro listened curiously to his teachers words, wondering jutst what they needed to go to the second floor. After they reached their destination more more instructions followed, his mind spun as he tried to piece together each key part of sensei's instructions. It would seem that the object was to escape in order to achieve lunch. "mmmm..... mmmmm" Shiro said from behind the tape, but what it sounded like in his head was "Challenge Accepted." However there was one slightl detail that had apparently escaped his sensei, most likely due to an error on his previous teachers part. Shiro knew how to use the nawanuke no jutsu already. With that trick stashed away in his tool box, along with his skill in escaping, he was going to be out of this situation in no time at all.

Just because water conforms does not mean it is any lesser an element.

What an adorable, sweet child. She was worried that she might cause him inconvenience? It was rare to meet such natural consideration in one's character, and to think, at so young an age. Yes, he decided, he indeed liked this child very much. That purity gave the child a certain noble bearing that many of the aristocratic children could do well to learn from. But it was more than that, the more he talked with her, the more he became convinced that if the statement "the treasure of Konoha" was any truer, surely this child's determination, her foresight and natural insight would be values Konoha would desire in all their shinobi's character.

He brought his right hand to his mouth, the fingers curled just very lightly, as even though the sound that should've accompanied the gesture does not come, there was a faint coloring of his cheeks. Not that of an infatuated flush, but the pale adoration a parent would have for a child. It was rare, for him to desire to want something to protect. As a doctor, the eseinin meets many cases of varying degrees of tragedy, personal emotional implications were rare as they had trained themselves to accept whatever the divine will was in the end. After all, the esei arts were imperfect, and shinobi as merely human beings in the end return to the dust from whence they came.

Perhaps, this small flowering of human connection was the wisdom generations of Jounin firsthand learned. No wonder the village was insistent upon the tradition for each Jounin, if time allowed... It was so easy to lose one's sense of self in the line of work. Gaining children to teach, to adore, to protect...was also to remind themselves of the innocence they once held. And therefore, the children were not only a stabilizing factor but their presence was also to remind and renew the beginning vow of choosing the shinobi path.

Akeru's respect for Hokage-sama grew, as he understood a little better, Shikamori's blunt insistence that he needed students.

"Preparations..." Akeru thought about the order, and, the suggestion. "Hokage-sama..."

His brows slowly furrowed the more he thought about the advice. The next statement was visibly unhappy, almost bordering helpless in its quiet voice.

"He didn't say precisely what preparations..."

Yes, Akeru had no idea what to do to ready for a Genin team. He was only going to visit today, find out the names of the children, get a basic idea of what they were like, and then work in the hospital until the inevitable day came. He had some inkling about the "tradition" and suspected it could be what the Nara Hokage meant by preparation but that was for a later time wasn't it? After the students graduate, certainly. The only other type of preparation he could think of was preparing himself mentally, emotionally, for what the current generation was like.

The expression faded back to passive neutrality, and a faint smile touched his lips.

"We still have some time before lunch ends."

It was true, for that at least.

With hunger burning in his stomach Shiro wasted no time in going to work on the knots. He used the Nawanuke no Jutsu to feel out the knots and get a sense of what he needed to do in order to escape all ten of them. They appeared to be quite complex and wondered if his sensei knew that he had already learned the jutsu and purposefully made it harder. Doubtful, no matter though. He'd just have to work a little bit harder than he intended to work. After scoping out all of the knots with both his eyes and the jutsu he set himself to work with undoing the knots. His fingers dexterously navigated what little room they had to move as he worked the first knot. A few tugs her and then some over there, before long he felt some slack around his hands. He'd undone the first knot, though still bound at the wrist he could open his hands like a gators mouth now.

Lesson: Nawanuke no Jutsu (Practice)
Description: The teacher has tied ten knots around your wrists and forearms. Get out of it and eat your well deserved lunch!
