Miranda chuckled at the mischievous look on her face. however she composed herself as the phone rang. It rang for awhile before a woman picked up.
"Hello?" her mother said in an absent manner. Probably working on some social event. "Hello, Mom." she said.
"Mir! Why haven't you call me sooner?" the woman scolded in her lightly accented voice.
"Well, I've kind been getting used to the love shack you threw me in. Very subtle Mom." she said sarcastically.
"How else way I to make sure you didn't ruin your life? We wanted you to start thinking about having a family at least. We thought you could learn something there."
"Well, I'm pretty sure you don't have to worry anymore. I've been wanting to settle down for awhile now." She winked at Luke. "I'm just annoyed you think you can force a man on me."
"Well if you really hate it there I'm sure we can find some better arrangement, with a man you'd rather be your husband."
"Too late for that. I'm already engaged and expecting my first child."
There was silence and a clattering sound. Miranda placed a hand over it mouth to stop from giggling. A faint "Carlos!" could be heard in the background.
"Ma?" Miranda called, biting her lip. There was no reply. "Don't think she's coming back for awhile." she said, hanging up the phone. Her face was red now from holding back giggles. She rested her head on the table shoulders heaving.
