Zhori was in the middle of planning a few things for next week's classes so as Penelope and Rose started working together, she returned to her desk, got out all her pages, and began to make some hastily scribbled notes.
Settling in, she kept one ear on her students as she worked, smiling slightly to herself as they tried to figure out what they should come up with. "Class is over, but you two are welcome to stay longer and work if you want."

Penelope Mikelovitch  Penelope stopped playing a little too suddenly, the final notes of the song lingering for, what felt like to her, an overly awkward amount of time. "Ah... right." She scratched the back of her head as she looked hesitantly at Rose, indadvertedly ruffling her hair in the process. "Well... It's a... A study period now, so... do you want to just keep working? I mean, we don't have to, if you don't want, but I'm not exactly... er, opposed to it."
She turned back to the piano, starting to play again to work out her nervousness. The song she began playing wasn't anything fancy, just something to distract her from the fact that she was sitting so close to this girl. Okay, so she still felt uncomfortable around her. Couldn't deny that now. Though, really, it wasn't without reason.

Rose Martin As Zhori begun to speak, Rose looked up at her. Oh. Class was over, thankfully, Zhori let them stay. Penelope was fast to say she didn't mind staying. "...Umm. Yeah... I guess we can stay.. I have nothing else to do" Rose said to the girl who seemed rather nervous. Well, Rose was too.
She begun to play another song. Rose listened. She had a song she felt like playing. Rose found another keyboard and proped it next to Penelope and begun to play the song that her grandmother had taught her to play when she was young. Her hands moved gracefully over the keys. This was one of the only songs that she could play without failing horribly. As Rose played the song it reminded her of her grandmother and mother. She missed them.

Penelope Mikelovitch Penelope faltered in her song, stopping as she heard Rose begin to play over her. Oh... okay. So it was her turn to play then. Penelope placed her hands on her lap. Well, she had already played a song, so she couldn't really complain, she just wished Rose would have let her finish...
She sat and politely listened to the song, clapping when it led to its eventual end. "That was ah... very pretty." She said. "A ah, a sort of melancholy sweet sort of tune. I mean, it sounded sad, but ah, not the entire time. So yeah, it was nice." She shifted uncomfortably in her seat. "Ah... so... so... do you ah, do you want to work on the song now? I mean, we don't have to, but you know, if you want we could... work on part of it... a little."

Rose MartinAs Penelope spoke about the song Rose had played she smiled.. "Oh, thanks... Its just a song my grandmother always played" Rose told her. She seemed to stammer alot when she spoke.. It was awkward. Very awkward between them.
"Oh right. The song. Yeah..." Rose said and paused for a moment. "The one you played earlier.. Yeah.. It's nice..." she said to her. Oh man, Rose hated how awkward this was. She kind of wanted to go hide somewhere, escape the.... Awkwardness.
Rose turned off her keyboard and put it back and sat down on a chair infront of the keyboard and looked at Penelope. "So. Should we.. err.... Start with the song?" she asked and scratched her head.

Penelope Mikelovitch "Um... Right! Sure." Penelope gave Rose the friendliest smile she could muster and began to play the song again. "So, do you want to sing the melody? Or the harmony? Cause I know both... You could sing the melody if you want, you'd just have to learn the words... Or ah, do you sing? I forgot to ask." She looked down at her moving fingers for a moment before continuing. "If you don't, I could teach you how to play the piano part, and I could just sing... it's whatever really I mean, I'm fine with ah... with whatever."
Well, she deserved a medal for her eloquence. Somehow she had managed to keep playing the blasted song through that mess of words without making that many mistakes. She looked down at her fingers again, concentrating on the tune and not on the fact that she couldn't seem to utter a coherent sentence.

Rose Martin"Oh I guess I sing abit.. Not too good at it.. But, I could do the harmony" Rose said and listened to the piano playing.
Ohh, this seemed awkward for the both of them. Rose didn't know how to make it less awkward. So she just lived with it for now. Rose stood up and put her hands in her pockets. And walked back and fourth. "Is there going to be any piano?" Rose asked as she stood herself infront of Penelope playing the keyboard.

Penelope Mikelovitch "...Yes?" Penelope said, unsure of what Rose meant. Hadn't they just been talking about (and playing) piano? Well, a keyboard on a grand piano setting, but still. "I... There should be right? I mean, well, you could- o-or I could play another instrument as well! It doesn't have to be piano, that's just what I know the, the best." She twiddled her thumbs. Try as she might this girl made her quite uncomfortable. "Um... um... look, why don't we just... we can work on this later if you want. It doesn't have to be now I mean. The song is pretty easy to find online, so you could ah, you could practice it and we could play it and sing it... er... next time. I-f you want."

Rose Martin"Oh right.. Sorry" Rose said and shook her head. Of course they would use piano, why else would they play it. Rose nodded "Oh yeah, we will still have the piano.. I could try to sing and do piano" Rose suggested and looked at Penelope.
"We can do it now.. I dont mind, I've got no where else to be" Rose said and looked at the girl. "...........Unless you ... have somewhere to.. uhh.. be of course" she said to Penelope and scratched her head. Man this was awkward.

Penelope Mikelovitch "No no! I don't really." Penelope said, waving her hands in front of her face. "It's just, if you want to play the piano part, then you're gonna need to practice it. I can show you it if you want, or you could just get the sheet music off of the internet I don't ah... It doesn't matter to me." She sighed. They were really getting nowhere with this conversation. That's why she had suggested just meeting later. It seemed like Rose was ever so slightly wary of her, which didn't really make sense anyways. Wasn't it supposed to be the other way around?
"Here. Have a... have a seat." Penelope smiled, scooting over and tapping the bench beneath her lightly. "I'm fine with you playing the piano part, but you need to... you know, learn it first. Our grades are riding on it right? So let's get on it!"

Rose MartinAs Penelope explained, Rose nodded. "You can teach me if you'd like.. I'm hopeless with computers" Rose admitted. So they were finally starting to talk without it being really awkward. She looked at her hands and then put then in her pockets.
Rose nodded and took a seat next to Penelope. "Oh of course. I'll work hard on getting it right" Rose said to Penelope then put her hands in her lap. "Lets start"

Penelope Mikelovitch "Al... alright then." Penelope said. She began to attempt to explain the song to Rose, showing her the chord progressions and where the right and left hands went. "I... singing the song while playing it always helped me memorize stuff... " She said hesitantly. "But if you don't know the lyrics... well, I could always write it out for you. If... I-if I may..." She gently picked up Rose's hands and placed them on the keys, blushing slightly. "It's really simple really. A lot of F majors and B flat majors with some C's and D minors thrown in... I-in places." She shrugged. "Well ah, go ahead and try the part I showed you for now. I'll write out the... the lyrics for you real quick."
She grabbed a notebook and pen from her knapsack and flipped them open, beginning to scribble the lyrics as quickly as she could.

Rose MartinWhilst watching Penelope play the song on the piano, she grabbed Rose's hands and put them on the keys, Rose let her, after all, she needed to know how to play this song, and the only way it would work was if she was shown. Rose played the part that Penelope had showed her. It wasn't too hard, but it would take some practice. Like everything else.
Rose looked over at Penelope as she wrote down the lyrics. And she played the piano part over again, it didn't sound bad, just needed to be practiced more.

Penelope Mikelovitch "R... Right then." Penelope finished writing and ripped the sheet of paper out of her booklet. "Um... here. It's about time to... I mean, school's pretty much over... for the day, but ah, here's the lyrics. I don't ah, I don't think we're in the same dorm, but, you can... I mean, if you want to practice over the weekend... I'm around. Yeah."
Gah, what was she saying? Was she actually setting herself up to spend time with this girl? Things were uncomfortable enough now, and she was actually going to subject herself to more of that during her leisure time? Why couldn't she just stop talking?
"So... yeah. I'm in the ser-... Topaz dorm, if you feel like... if you have questions about... a-about whatever." Penelope laughed nervously. "So... yeah. See you... next time?"

Rose MartinOnce Rose had played the passage, class was pretty much over. She turned off the keyboard and packed up after herself. Rose looked at Penelope as she stammered. Work on the song when it was weekend? Rose looked at Penelope with a look of.. What? Rose wasn't sure about spending time with Penelope.
Before Rose was able to answer, Penelope had already told her the dorm she was in, and such. Rose nodded but didn't know if she would end up seeing her. Class time would be enough.
And Penelope was out of the classroom before Rose could say anything. "Bye then.. I'll see you around I suppose" Rose said and put her palm in her face.
Sigh. That went horribly
Rose put her bag over her shoulder and headed out of the classroom door.
