Chi was silent, then got to her feet and walked over to the window again. "I guess... I don't know what I want... I've always lived in fear of hoping that my sickness won't strike me down out of nowhere, desperate to live just to see the next day... Now that I have all the time in the world... I'm lost..."

Vale didn't say anything, or do anything for several moments before he slowly sat up, the covers shifting with the movement.

Chi turned in a flash when she heard Vale getting up. "Look. Don't make me strap you to the bed, ok? You need to take it easy..." she said as she walked back over to him, proceeding to push down on his shoulders carefully.

Chi blinked a few times, frozen in place at the hug despite feeling that her cheeks were getting warmer. "W-what are you.... Yo-ou shouldn't be getting up just yet. L-lay back down," she said, trying to remain focused as her fingers fumbled with his, trying to get him to let go.

Vale hugged her for a moment longer before slowly letting go, laying back down.

Once free, Chi took half a step backwards and sat down in the chair by the bed. She wrapped her arms around herself slowly for a few moments before looking back up at Vale. "Wh-what was... that for?..."

Chi stared at him, thinking, then let her arms relax and folded her hands in her lap. "Honestly?... Why do you care about me, honestly?" she asked calmly. "And don't give me the excuse that I stood up against the Hokage and my entire village just to help you. You've used that excuse enough. Sure, it's a reason to be thankful to someone. But for a hug in this case?..."

"Alright. Fair enough. You're the only person in my life to ever show me any form of compassion. Everyone else has treated my like trash, and sadly? Even my own flesh and blood has done the same to me. My loyalties lie with you. It also helps that I quickly liked you." he said, almost bluntly as he stayed in the bed.

Ok, who wouldn't be surprised by that? Chi sat there for probably five minutes in silence, trying to process what he had just said. When she finally spoke, or even moved after sitting still for so long, she brushed some of her hair back behind her ear and looked down to the side, staring at the floor. Again, the redness returned in her cheeks. "I'm... I'm sorry about your past..." Chi said quietly, unable to think of anything else to really say.

"A-and... Ha-ave you thought about h-how you plan on spending your future?... An-nd wh-who spends it with y-you?..." she asked, keeping her head down as she stared at the floor to her left. Why did she ask the who question when she sorta figured what his answer would be? Well, let's just call it reassurance to make sure that he's really saying what she thinks he's saying.
