Sigh... He saw no one he knew; of course. The halfbreed just began aimlessly walking about the cafeteria, glad to have brought his own lunch today.. It was so loud in here, though, and even if he wasn't in line.. There were tons of people. And nowhere to sit. He chewed at his lower lip lightly, trodding along slowly, nearly running himself straight into a girl headed for the trash. He jolted slightly, lifting his gaze from the floor to look at her.
He nearly flinched, mismatched eyes drifting elsewhere, "Sorry.." He took a step back to allow her to continue on her way, grinding the heel of his boot into the ground idly. He hated placed like these. He hated school.. And he didn't even get to bring Alexei, his mouse companion. So.. He was all alone all day, walking around a bunch of people. Yes, Spiro very much hated this place.
It's not that he didn't SEE people he knew. After all, he knew a lot of people that went here, but... He couldn't speak to them. He wouldn't bother them. They never seemed to notice him, so obviously they didn't want him around. Fine enough.. He'd just keep on his own path, then.

Peering through the main door cautiously, Aqua quietly tiptoed inside the school, peering about, her eyes wide with curiosity as she walking softly down the hallway, tugging her sister along. Unsure of where to go, she hesitantly tugged on the sleeve of a very tall adult walking by quickly, asking where the "sign up" place is. Exhaling in exhasperation(sp?), he quickly pointed out the main office before running off again.
Glowering at Aqua as she was yanked along, Sere simply folded her arms, stuffing the barbie doll head in her pocket lest some adult "take it to fix it." Rolling her eyes at the thought, she couldn't help but look around with faint curiosity as her and Aqua walked quietly down the hallway. When her sister stopped the tall man, Sere glared at him the whole time, before brushing past Aqua to the room the man had pointed to, shoving the door open with a bang.
Sighing in uselessness, Aqua quickly ran ahead of her sister, talking with the lady behiind the business desk for a few minutes before being handed 2 schedules for second and third grade, then being somewhat gently shoved out the door to the cafeteria.
"It's lunchtime, dearie, go mingle with your new classmates and make some friends, okay sweety?" The woman said in an over high voice with a halfway welcoming smile.
Making a face, Aqua relents and tugs Sere after her again into the cafeteria, the amount of noise almost deafening her as she shoved the doors open, narrowly missing a purple haired boy with blue and red wings. Fidgeting a little at the fact she knew no one there, she trotted over to the boy with a cheery smile. "Heyla! I'm Aqua, an' you are?"
Snatching her schedule from Aqua, she glances down the list in irritation while rolling her eyes at the secretary person and heaving a breath in annoyance. She was about to start a stream of foul words as Aqua pulled her again, but the sheer volume of the noise in the cafeteria shut her up handily as Aqua introduced herself to a nearby boy.

The boy's head lifted as someone else spoke to him, and he turned to face Aqua, fingers tugging idly at his messenger bag. Nervous energy. "Hello.." He looked from girl to girl curiously before speaking once again, "I'm Spiro..." Now, normally the quiet boy could have kept to himself. But now he was somewhat curious- he had waited until everyone was already in the cafeteria before coming in... So.. Had they just gotten here? Everyone else was sitting or in line. "Did you just get here?" He ground the toe of his combat boot now.

Oops. Looks like she needed to pay more attention to what was going on around her, apparently. "Sorry, my fault. Didn't mean to get in the way and whatnot..." Kaja bobbed her head slightly at the boy she'd almost run into, totally flushed with embarrasment; like most small children, she tended to blow things out of proportion. As it was...running away just seemed like a good plan. Especially when there was another child there, talking to the boy...she must have walked into a rendevous or something! "I'll just be going, then."

Shrugging, she smiles at the other girl, waving. "Hiya! And kinda. Me'n my sis Sere just signed up or whatever, just got out schedules. The lady behind the desk told us t'go to the cafeteria for lunch." She looks around again the the immense number of kids, shuddering a little, and grinning sheepishly.
Sere rolls her eyes. "No, we've been here for just hours and hours. YES we just got here, spike head." She spits out the spike head insult, glaring at both Spiro and the unknown girl.

Kaja frowned a little at the older of the other two girls; she seemed like a real meanie. Almost unconsciously, she drew Oliver's tote closer to her, aided by her lunch tray; the older girl didn't seem like she'd be a good person for Oliver to be around. The younger girl seemed nice enough, though... "Well, the lunch kinda leaves stuff to be desired; it's kinda...gray." She nodded her head at the unfinished food on her plate, which was carefully not touching the lettuce still there.

The halfbreed looked towards Sere curiously, but seemed generally unphased by her anger. He just glanced between the two, "Oh." He shifted his weight from foot to foot, glancing back at Kaja as well before eyeing the mentioned lunch thoughtfully.. Ugh. Boy was he glad he brought lunch. He almost cringed at what he saw. Nasty stuff. "Yeah.. I brought my lunch today." He glanced about the cafeteria now. He wasn't too good with people... But he would try. It wasn't that he didn't want to meet new people and all that, its just that it was hard.. And the more people that knew him, the more that could possibly hate him. And he didn't want to be hated.

Kaja nodded her head at the boy, having to smile at the lunch comment. Why hadn't she thought of that? Because she hadn't been thinking, obviously. As it was...she had no idea what she'd been eating, other than the fact it had a consistancy similar to wallpaper paste. "That was a smart thing to do; if I'd brought my lunch, then maybe I could have used this gray stuff for something better. Like sticking things together." She eyed her tray with distaste, but that just reminded her of her mission. Lettuce! So she balanced the tray in one hand, and with the other swiped the greenery off the tray, tucking it into the tote with Oliver. He'd probably like that, a private dining room...

The boy hesitated a moment, watching as the girl tucked the lettuce away, unable to stop himself from being curious. It was frustrating- he used to be able to just let it go. But now, ever since he began to change and open up, he found it harder and harder to stop asking questions about things he knew were none of his business.. But here he was, asking, "What's that..?" He motioned towards the tote slightly, "I mean... What do you have?" He knew people didn't normally put lettuce into their bags just for the fun of it. Or, atleast, thats what he guessed. He wasn't so good with normal people stuff.

For a moment, Kaja simply stared at Spiro, a bit puzzled at what he was asking. It was lettuce, wasn't it? It certainly looked that way to her...
Then she blushed as she realized what he was referring to. Oy, she'd been so used to running around outside on her own that she'd forgotten about some of the social niceties involved in being in a group, such as 'don't put vegetables in your bag' and other similar sentiments. Whoops. And she was trying to be really careful, too! She wasn't sure if Oli was technically allowed in school at all, really...
"Um..." She glanced down at the bag, from which soft munching noises were now emitting; obviously Oliver was finding the private dining area to his liking. But he wouldn't like it if he got kicked out of school! And neither would she.
Glancing up again, she sidled a little closer to Spiro, lowering her voice to a semi-whisper. "Promise you won't tell anybody? Like a teacher?"

Spiro's brows arched slightly, a curious expression coming to him. Well.. She had just stared at him like everyone SHOULD BE putting lettuce in their bags, and then asked him to promise something or other about not telling anyone. Hm.. What was in that bag that was so important? The halfbreeds teeth set into his lower lip and he nodded slightly, taking on a somewhat distant look as his mind wandered over what could be in that bag. His imagination wasn't as bright and big as it should be at the glorious age of seven, but thats not to say it didn't exist. "Promise."
He finally came to the conclusion that it must be an animal. Freize had said he wasn't allowed to bring Alexei, thus why the girl didn't want him to tell anyone.. And thus why she was feeding it. He shifted slightly, trying to get a better look at it without drawing any attention to himself. What kind of animal? Most of them didn't like him, but he was curious anyways.

Kaja let out a sigh of relief, then broke into a bright smile; after all, she was immensely proud of her Oliver, so the chance to have someone else admire him as well was very pleasing. Besides that, there was the added temptation of the secuity of a promise; every child knew what would happen if they broke a promise!
Still, promise or not, it was just a little too crowded in the cafeteria to risk showing off Oliver, so she'd have to pass on that; a pity, really, because he was such a cutie! All the more reason to find another turtle like him...which was going to be harder now that had to go to school. Parents were so mean! She made a face at that thought, her hands clenching around the lunch tray. School was stupid anyway. But yeah...what was she doing? Oh yeah, Oliver!
"Well...my turtle is in there. Oliver. He always goes places with me, so I didn't want to leave him alone when I went to school." She nodded her head at Spiro, reaching down with one hand into the tote to pet her turtle. He must be almost done eating, since the crunching was dying down; obviously he liked the lettuce. "But I don't know if I'm allowed to have him here or not, so...I dun' want him to get caught, you know?"

The halfbreed shifted slightly, curiousity only growing at her smile. It must be something like Alexei... Because the mouse had the same sort of affect on him- well, more on the inside, as it was rare to find him smiling unless he was completely at ease. And you were fairly close to him. His hands slid back, hands locking behind him, fingers lacing together.
He was still for awhile, with the exception of a slight swaying motion taken up by his tail.. He was slightly confused by her seemingly random change in emotion, head cocking to one side just slightly. And then his brows were arched up again and he was eyeing the bag thoughtfully as she responded, "Oh... Yeah, I understand."
Spiro pondered a second before speaking again, "I have a mouse named Alexei I usually keep with me, but Freize said I wasn't allowed to take him to school.. So I had to leave him at home.. Don't worry, I promise I won't tell anybody." He felt that an animal-friend was so important it required a repeated promise. "Um.. I'm Spiro." Introductions were always good.

Her behavior might be a little random, but she'd always been one to change emotions at a drop of a hat, and this little interview was a prime example of that. Now that Oliver had been safely dealt with, she was in pretty good spirits; and to make it even better, the boy...Spiro, she corrected herself, hadn't made that strange face that people always made when she said her pet was a turtle. Really, what was wrong with turtles? Just because they weren't fluffy didn't mean they were cute and wonderful pets.
"Aww, that's too bad about Alexei, Spiro; I don't really think that I was supposed to bring Oli to school, actually..." But technically, no one had told her she couldn't; all that Cajmera had said was that it wasn't a good idea to bring him and that Kaja had better not plan on it; and she hadn't planned on it! She'd just done it. "But I knew he'd be sad if I left him, and he's really good at behaving. Oh, and my name's Kaja!" She sort of tacked her own name on as an afterthought; it never seemed to occur to her that others didn't just intuitively know her name, so she was always forgetting to mention it.

Spiro didn't think any less of turtles, to be honest.. They were kind of neat. Most animals didn't like him too much, but atleast he had Alexei. Because of Alexei, he knew how it was to be attatched deeply to any sort of animal; be it turtle, or warm fuzzy critter. And along the lines of emotions- he showed very few himself. He had sort of a bemused look that he was most often found with, which sometimes shifted in order to show vague curiousity or something of the sort.
The halfbreed nodded, "Ah, yeah... Alexei's really good, but he always likes to be out on my shoulder and stuff.. And gets sad if he's not." He shrugged slightly, "And he has a nice place at home..." He paused, "Umn... I think... I was really just worried about losing him. I couldn't imagine ever not having Alexei.." What a terrible thought. So terrible he expelled it from his mind almost immediately. Forget that.
