The first kick was enough to wake her from her shameful state, groaning quietly and rolling off Jerry to lie on her back beside him on the ground. The second kick and the nudge were met with a bleary-eyed glare that only intensified as she was called that damn name. Et tu, Clarice? But she had a point...Dr. H was not coming at her for any kind of examination unless absolutely necessary. Especially not dressed like this. She put her arm over her face as if that alone would hide her shame. She was doing such an awful job at this. All of this. What was the most useful thing she had done this entire mission been? Keeping Jerry somewhat calm, and that was about it. She didn't even have to try at that.

You're being far too hard on yourself. You've been doing well with what you're currently capable of, Candace. It's alright to...not be perfect every now and then. Candace growled quietly and clenched her fist, slamming it down on the ground before sitting up. She was just in time to come face to face with a bazooka, eyes wide and jaw clenched tightly. Don't shoot! Don't shoot! What was he even...?! Clarice snapped at Jerry to stand down and Candace looked to see what had him in such a fright, making a soft noise of understanding when she spotted the horned demon thing. Looked very lazy to her...why did they have him and not the giant of of a man? Or the horse? Or the giant white Twilight Wolf she was going to affectionately dub Jacob White? Surely they would have been better catches. Even he shirtless bird girl would have done fine.

"Jerry, it's okay. He looks harmless anyway. Are you and Harrison okay?" She winced at Clarice's words when they reached her ears. They had done very poorly. Cael and Dr. H must have been pissed. "Let's go back inside and catch ourselves some brats, okay?" Candace rolled onto her hands and knees to get up to stand, offering anyone else nearby who needed it help to stand as well.

So many of them were here now...what had she missed? Candace glowered a moment before forcing herself to smile, needing to try and keep her cool for the moment.

(( Entering from Tent. ))

Davey stumbled out of the tent, blinking against the sunlight. He suppressed a sigh as he took in the state of the yard. Even with the monsters gone, it had clearly been the site of a battle. It would take a while for things to be put back in order.

Thankfully it didn't seem like cleanup was their main duty. Clarice was 'helpfully' waking the unconscious Hunters. Her advice about avoiding Caelius and the doctor was the smartest thing Davey had heard in several hours.

"Is there somewhere we can get bandaged up?" he asked her. "I feel about one hit away from joining the bodies on the ground."

Seeing the heartfelt reunions and general chatter, Clarice refrained from speaking up again on the matter, and just took a moment to rest and consider the situation. The trainees would either go and try to kick some a**, or...she glanced at the demon, or they'd figure something else out. Either way...this was a big first for most of them. It's only reasonable that they'd be a little bit sore and needy afterward. And speaking of..

"...you already had to use both your bandages? I told the doctor he should give you extra! Next time I'll take care of the special considerations myself, as that man is just so..." A quick glance back at the tent, a tech can be seen hurrying out with something on fire. She looked away, and then back at Davey. "Now this is my last one, so be careful not to over do it..." she held up the last of the pink Hello Kitty bandages, "Oh wait, sorry!" And then quickly drew the bandage back. With careful consideration, she opened the wrapper and peeled off the back, "...ok, where does it hurt?"

(( Davey got bandages??? D: ... oh derp redface redface I fail at reading thread. ))

Davey blanched as he took in the pink Hello Kitty design of Clarice's bandages. "Um, wait, you know what? I think I just found some in my pocket. Thanks, Clarice."

Let it be known that Davey HAD no pockets. But upon making a quick retreat, Davey did indeed find a pair of bandages in his never-opened pack. Oops. That was what he got for arriving late - miss making a group and miss the instructions on what was in the packs.

To recap:

Clarice = User Image

... Yeah. Davey was having a great day so far.

The Hunters that were waking up seemed...relaxed, at least. Grateful to see each other alive. The one jumpy fellow had been deterred. Barth smiled at him apologetically.

Barth shadowed Clarice, and sat down, grateful for the seat but cold with the information that the cages were empty. It was worse than just disappearing from the field. He was the only Halloween resident here.

There was a lot of discussion about hurrying to fill them again. But if they knew, or figured out the Hunters were here... with him as the only causality, a rescue mission would be- stupid. Even he could recognize it as stupid. Everyone would probably pack up and head straight to Halloween. And then...what for him? Death? Weaponization? Torture? Experimentation?

"Clarice. A little earlier," Barth said quietly, "you asked why I went on this trip at all. Which is a funny sort of question, because all of these trips have been disasters. You know, it's funny now, ha ha. A lot of us- went along for fun, you know, or a challenge. I just wanted to be better at surviving things. ...Better practiced safe in bed, isn't it?"

Jerry immediately lowered his weapon, but he didn't put it away, eyes locked on the cowering demon intently. Well, it seemed... mostly tamed. Or apprehended. Or weakened or something. It looked like it was about to collapse. "Y-yes, Sir. Ma'am. Er. Sir." No sooner had Roar been gently set down that he heard Candace's voice and his face lifted immediately. "Y-yes, yes, I'm fine... I'm just..." He cut off, Roar finally vanishing in a burst of green to hang from his neck in tiny flute form once more as he took her hand to stand.

The hum had returned to his throat. Even with that ridiculous mustache (hopefully it would be gone by the time they went into the house again) He couldn't help his blush. "That face- that face- that dangerous face, I mustn't be unwise... Those lips, that nose, those eyes... could lead to my demise..." The song was just under his breath, he barely knew he had been singing when Candace turned to help up Harrison and the others.

The hunter relaxed a bit, taking this moment to try to regroup his troupes- and speaking of which, he immediately spotted a familiar series of faces... "Robert! Miss Ennea and Madison! P-Petra!" gripping his ridiculous Mario hat in a gloved hand, he wobbled towards them, "How is everyone holding up? This place is insane. Absolutely insane." He did not want to talk about his various embarrassing costume changes. At least he had swapped out the ballgown with Candace before seeing the other Phoenixes. "Where's Alpha One? He's alright, isn't he? Are you all holding up ok without me?"

"Jerry!" Madison brightened when the older man came towards them. "Jordan's right there," she said, gesturing at their leader, who was still unconscious from the Soul Harvester's attack. She had taken up a post nearby to make sure nothing messed with him (especially not that weird-a** pet of Clarice's) - he was breathing, regularly and evenly, but he was still out.

Maybe he just needed the rest?

"We're doing okay... or I thought we were," she sighed, sweeping both hands through her hair in an attempt to comb out tangles. "We nearly took out a bunch of those creepy freaks, and then, like, we ended up here and..." She made a face. "That awful screaming thing, uh, screamed and took us all out. Except Ennea," she added, glancing back at the younger Hunter again. What had gone on while they were all out?

The last Jordan could recall, he'd been carrying Ferros in hammer form. This was not currently the case. A jolt of panicked adrenaline brought him fully awake and to his feet; he realized a moment later that the weapon had unsummoned himself, the now-familiar weight of the heavy ring present and reassuring. That was a relief.

Then, half a second later, the headache hit. This was possibly the worst headache he'd ever had in his life. No, it was definitely the worst. Jordan wobbled on his feet and pressed his fingers to his temple in a futile attempt to alleviate the stabbing pain. Light hurt. Sound hurt. Everything hurt.

Sorry, Ferros said, his voice muted to a guilty whisper.

Save it, Jordan managed. What happened? Where is everyone? Where are we? Wincing, he looked around, trying to make sense of the chaos around him. s**t, did everyone make it?

Robert, at least, was fairly easy to recognize. The big man stood out in a crowd. And it looked like - yes, the number of other figures nearby meant that his team was all there. He could look for the other Hunters he knew later. Right now, as far as he knew, they were still in the field, which meant that his responsibility was to his own group. "Guys?" he said, and winced again at the rough edge to his own voice.

Clarice pulled back the offered bandage, eyebrows lifted at the hasty retreat. She glanced back down at the bandage. Was this the power of Hello Kitty? She didn't have long to think on it because the captive was speaking again.

"Well, if it's any consolation, we have no intention of actually killing you or anything. It's just not how we work. So your continued survival? Really not something you need worry about. You'll be taken care of and not in the like...mob-esque sleeping with the fishes taken care of."

She paused and briefly wondered if explaining this was even worth it, and concluded lamely, "You'll be fine. Really." Survival? Yeah, she wasn't about to deride that particular reason for coming here. No hunter who agreed to undergo the initial exams was in a position to do that.

"Boss!" Madison slumped in relief; now there was only Petra still asleep, and she couldn't imagine a better, safer place for the black-haired Hunter than in Robert's arms. So that was pretty much taken care of... at least for now. "Boss, some, uh..." She glanced at Clarice. "s**t went down. And now we have to deal with it..."

Madison straightened as she remembered what else the more senior Hunter had said. "Clarice said that, like, we should either go back in the house and try and find some more freaks to capture, or we can talk to her about other ideas? Oh, uh, and stay away from Caelius and Dr. H, I guess they're, like, pissed. I think we lost pretty hard..."

Bix wandered the field until he saw Ariane laying, looking to still be unconscious. "Ariane?" He crouched next to her and patted her cheek.

He was glad to see that their whole team had been found and casting a glance back he noticed Davey bandaging himself. Bix wondered momentarily if maybe they would be able to bring the one armed hunter into their team. He'd been a good ally during the battle and he felt slightly bonded with the guy after they'd all survived and fought together. Bix was a little proud of his bros!

Surely you will not die. Barth had heard that one before.

"I appreciate the sentiment," Barth said.

Jerry went to check on some of the other guys. Horns was their only captive, and apparently...under control, or whatever. He desummoned B0nez, clipping him to his overalls.

"I'm okay," Harrison said. "Those mario ghosts disappeared too, huh? What the hell happened?"

"Thanks, Madison. Ngh. Give me a minute. Headache." Maddie must be feeling considerably more stressed than usual, Jordan thought; she'd fallen back into the speech patterns she'd been trying so hard to avoid. Not something to comment on. Extra stressor. "How long were we out? Do you know?" The pain in his head peaked once more, then began to fade, letting his thoughts clear gradually. He hoped that wasn't going to happen again. If it did, maybe he'd get used to it, but it was not something he wanted to have to get used to.

Jerry was hovering nearby, he realized, and managed a slightly strained smile. "How are you holding up?" he asked. "Is your group okay?"

"I'm doing alright, better now, was knocked a bit silly earlier, ahahaha, and er.. aside from the ah... constant costume changes. I'm... I'm feeling better now, anyway, a bit groggy but... I wasn't... wasn't quite myself earlier... ahaha..." He swallowed after his babbled tirade, glancing back to where Candace was checking the others to make sure they were alright. He fidgeted with his overalls, wishing he was back in his uniform.

He was glad his fellow Phoenixes hadn't seen... whatever had come over him in the rooms. He wasn't sure he liked it, no matter what Candace thought about it. He drew in a sharp breath, "I'm glad to see you all in one piece at least!" A quick glance to the unconscious form of Petra, he frowned, "Is... is she going to be alright?"

Robert returned Ennea's hug, and gave Jerry and Jordan a grateful look. But when Petra's health was in question, he turned his gaze down to the girl in his arms and shook her gently.

"Sunshine, rise for me." He whispered into her hair. "I need to see that shining face smiling up at me, sunshine." Why was it taking so long? He even gave Clarice a frantic look, wondering if maybe a Hello Kitty band-aid would do the trick..
