((I actually got so caught up in making the first part clear, I'd neglected to mention that. Yes, using an item uses up your turn. You cannot use an item and attack on the same turn.))

((Additionally, while status like Sleep, Freeze, and Paralysis do make do take away the Pokemon's ability to attack, it is still technically possible to use items during this time.))

The Minccino and Snivy clashed with perfectly opposing force, the leafy tail of Edgeworth managing to parry his adversaries tail inches before it would have otherwise struck his body.

Still mid-air the Minccino flipped, landing upon it's small feet and sliding back a few steps. Ears twitching, the tiny beast seemed to catch something...some command. Turning around swiftly, the Pokemon once more began to sweep his shaggy tail across the floor like a duster. Picking up the pace of the movements, the Minccino began to kick up a massive cloud of dust just as it had previously.

If the strategy wasn't broken, why fix it?

((Now I'll move on to the most important item for any Trainer...the Pokeball.))

((Just like with any other item, a Pokeball can only be used during your own Attack Turn. When throwing a Pokeball you must roll 1D20, this is called a Capture Roll.))

((Every Pokemon has a Capture Rate, I'll be frank and tell you that this is generally the Pokemon's Current HP + 1. So if their HP was at 10, the Capture Rate would be 11. To successfully catch the Pokemon your roll must be the Capture Rate or higher.))

((To make that clear, if the Capture Rate was 11, you would need to roll 11 or Higher to succeed. If you rolled even one below, such as a 10, the capture would fail. When a Capture fails the Pokeball used for it is broken, and thus unusable.))

It was relieving when the Snivy blocked the attack. Edgeworth did a backflip in the air, pushed back from the momentum, and landed swiftly on his back legs. Grounded once again the Grass type gave an audible snarl of sorts as the Mincinno took the defensive once again.
"Nice one trick Ponyta, you got there." Nicolas stated, though his tone was not mocking. It was flat, as though simply stating an observation.
Edgeworth was far from amused though, rather than await a command from his trainer he launched forward into a tackle, sprinting towards the zombie Pokemon before the tall boy could even utter a protest.
Nicolas was left simply watching the battle progress without having initiated it. It was only a little annoying, Edgeworth was a new Pokemon to him and they'd yet to develop a trust of any kind. It was only natural it would rebell at one point or another.
It did pick the most inconvienent time to do so though.

Ooc//: Alrighty, so game logic basically. Gotcha.

((That pretty much sums up the battle system. There are a few more advanced things, but you'll be taught those once you've had a little more practice with the basics. Details on the different moves and status effects can be found in the Information Center. Abilities can also be found there, though those qualify as one of the more "Advanced" parts of the combat system.))

The dust cloud would obscure the Trainer's few, however Edgeworth would just be able to see it. Ears alerting him to his opponent's movements, the Minccino sidesteps the Snivy perfectly, lifting up it's tail in such a way that caused it to brush against the reptiles face as it passed.

"That's one trick you still haven't managed to beat! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" The voice cackled, clearly mocking the youth "Iron Tail!"

Even before the dust had completely settled the Minccino was off like a shot, tail gleaming like polished silver. Angling it's body, the Pokemon looked as if it were going to aim for Edgeworth's right side; but at the last second the beast pivoted, redirecting the attack toward the left!

Ah, well. The voice was correct. They hadn't managed to break that defense yet, and his thoughts was distrupted when the Mincinno began it's next assault.
"Well, if you can't beat them..." Nicolas began an idea occuring to him at that moment that might just turn the tides of battle in his favor. He tapped his cane on the ground to call for Edgeworth's attention, the Snivy didn't turn his way but his tail flicked in significance. He'd heard the sound and he awaited the next quick order that left his trainer's mouth.
"Use your Grass Pledge to obscure it's sight!"
Fighting fire with fire, huh? Or dust with grass, either way Edgeworth seemed amused at the idea and leapt back before sending a hurricane of leaves into the Mincinno's face. They were harmless, not sharp-edged as they were when he used them to attack, but they'd do nicely in ruining the decayed normal type's accuracy so long as the plan worked.

Ooc//: Alrighty, thank you very much.
Edit: You rolled a one and I rolled a 20. That's pretty amusing to me.

"You don't know the meaning of real pain dear child. There are a myriad of ways to inflict suffering you haven't even thought of yet...ways to flay the mind and flesh alike...the crush the soul like one would a berry...if you disagree I can show you personally...show you pains which will have you begging for a death that will never come..." The voice spoke, both calm and cold; his words weren't a taunt or a threat, they were a promise. The child hadn't even the faintest idea of what true suffering could be like.

The voice paused a moment "You look too close, and miss whats right in front of you fool. What students face in this room is as random as drawing a name out of a hat" The voice stated, beginning to sound a tad irritated. Here the boy was trying to prove his intellect, when it was his precise lack of such things that brought him here to begin with. Children truly were foolish creatures sometimes.

One did not truly learn till they let go of the illusion of actually knowing anything.

Meanwhile the Snover would find itself faced with an issue. The Pokemon's attack melted almost as soon as it came into contact with it's swine like adversary. In the next instant the Tepig slammed into the miniature tree with all it's weight, knocking the Snover to the floor before retreating.

"Well then, lets see if you can actually succeed at something the second time around, eh boy?" The voice mocked in it's usual, more sinister tone. As if taking some silent cue, the Tepig set it's feet against the ground. It was a simple defensive stance, but there was little doubt it would be effective.

((Now that I've explained accuracy I'll explain how damage calculation works.))

(10 - 7) + (8 - 7) =

Six chuckled. "I dont think there is one way that you know of that can cause me any pain. Why break something thats already broken?" Obviously this voice doesnt know what Six has gone through to know what pain really is rather than a mere wound. Six found it pointless to argue so he kept his focus and tried to strategize on how to beat this Tepig who was at a type advantage.

Why bother fighting something when IT was too afraid to show itself

Right before the Powder snow made contact, it melted w/o even making contact. Somehow long range attacking wasnt going to work. Six was going to think close combat wise."Snover get close to Tepig" Snove listened and dashed towards the Tepig that was in a somewhat in a defensive stance. As soon as the snover got close enough......"Jump over and used Powder Snow again behind him!" Six figured he would try again at his earlier approach.

Once inflicted with this status, the opponent will be frozen for a maximum of 5 turns, if they are unable to roll a accuracy roll higher than thier opponent for all 5 turns. Until that time, the opponent will hit thier foe with thier attack/sp attack base stats. This means that there will be no inclusion of the accuracy rolls, or even an opponents defense. They will literally take the full blunt of the attack, without any way to defend against it. This goes for all attacks, and if one is poison or any such other stats affliction it will cancel out frozen, except for Infactuation
))

[CRITICAL! +1 TO SNOVER'S ATTACK ROLLS!]

"So says all the whinny emo brats, then we break every last bone in their body, scorch and flay their skin, rub salt in the wounds, and still keep them very much alive boy; and that's just for starters" The voice was getting more malicious with each passing second, this child was beginning to annoy him now "You have all your limbs intact, clothes upon your body, food in your stomach, and nary a scar to be seen boy. You don't know the meaning of real suffering."

"Oh, well look at that..." The Voice suddenly called out, distracted "...we've got a frozen porkchop! GWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" He called out, laughing hysterically.

The Snover's attack had indeed struck home, and although the blow had not been fatal due to the Tepig's natural defenses, there had been certain noticeable side-effects. The Fire-Type was frozen in a solid block of ice. Unable to attack or properly defend itself.

((I've put the explanation for the status effect above, for the others go to the "Information Center". Now let me make one thing clear, though your roll will not effect damage against a FRZ target, you do still need to roll. The reason is that if the your opponent rolls higher then you while frozen, they will break free of the ice.))

((Next I'll explain Critical Hits and Fumbles. As you know the highest the die will go is 20, and the lowest is 1. When you roll a 20 you will gain a Critical Hit. The effect of which is that you gain +1 to your roll for either your defense or attack [depending on when you rolled it] for the remainder of the battle. This only effects damage calculation not your accuracy.))

((Now opposite to this is when you roll a 1. This is known as a fumble. Rather then gaining +1, you gain -1.))
